Robin you and Barry have every reason to be proud of the Music you and Barry and Maurice wrote. Be PROUD of everything you three have done. Be PROUD of yourself . We in America LOVE you Three and always willl.
Yes, I feel that too. So deep, articulate and thoughtful. Despite the drug problems which can affect the mind, he was so with it and ahead of his time. Amazing family and also so lovely. I think geniuses are often good human beings.
Billy Everett He’s a professional journalist. His job is to prod and question and cross examine. He’s not given Robin an unusually hard time he’s acquitting himself very well. If you’d had a chance of asking him I doubt he would have felt aggrieved.
@@JulianGlass The intent behind the prodding is questionable. Clearly Robin seemed uncomfortable by the line of questioning though he handled himself quite well. I miss Sir David Frost.
To me, this is the best part of the whole interview. In this Part 3 of HardTalk, Robin is less defensive and actually taking time to think about and answer the questions. He was very passionate and determined to do his part of establishing "The British Bomber Command" memorial. And oh Yes, it was indeed built and it is nothing short of Spectacular!! It's massive and breath-taking and located in Greenspark. As a very old gentleman, one of the actual surviving members of the Bomber Command said upon viewing the memorial,....."Bloody Magnificent!!!!" So very proud of Robin for his unrelenting efforts on helping to bring this into being. There are pics here on RU-vid showing the incredible statue honoring the fallen heros that Robin spoke of here. Do yourself a favor and take a look at this fantastic momument! Though Robin did not live to witness the grand opening, he did get to view the finished work by being lifted high up on a scaffold. Those pics are also here on RU-vid.
Robin actually did write music till he did drop. He lived as he was, He was incredible ! He was so passionate in everything he did. I so admire this great man !💜
Robin was blessed by God, his success is a wonderful blessing. All the Gibb's brothers are very Special and Adored by millions of people. Rest in Peace our Beloved Robin Gibbs.
Robin is a true gentleman. A lot of people would have told this asshole off. He is a jerk. It seems he is trying to irritate him. Robin is a peaceful, pleasant person, who shouldn't have to put up with him. In other words Robin is a better person. He is much more intelligent than the interviewer. Unfortunately Robin wasn't alive for the unveiling of the statue to the soldiers. Thank you for your hard work honoring others. I love and miss you, Robin. ❤️🌹❤️
I keep learning more and more about what a special, precious humanitarian he was!!! We have lost not only a great talent.... but a great man!!! Miss and love you, Robin.....
Clearly Stephen Sackur had a problem with the Gibb Bothers. The problem is Stephen is no one and nobody will ever remember him in the UK, let out somewhere else! On the other hand the BeeGees will always be remebered as one of the best pop band in the world. Around 300 million recors sold, 40 Top 10 Worldwide hits and more than 25 #1's. Their music catalogue is the most valued catalogue in the world. In 2021 it is estimated to be worth more than 500 million $. The brothers Gibb are absolute Legends and their legacy will last forever🙌
Always a complete gentleman. I have never seen a rude interview from him. He was an activist, as well as a genuine human being. His causes? Animal rights, song writers rights, music for the young, history of his Nation. What a guy.
Robin was really an intellect. His mind so far above the interviewer that he could hardly keep up. Robin was quick, direct, and always very accurate in what he had to say. Unbiased and very clear in his thoughts. He could think on his feet better than most anyone I've seen. That itself is a talent few people have. Fielding questions posed in order to try to trip him up in his past quotes.......,many times these were spoken during times of real grief when all of us see things in a different light. Robin got no sympathy for that . Still he prevailed. He was in the driver seat and I always loved to see him out maneuver jerks paid to try and get one over on him or screw him up. They picked the wrong tomato! LOL Not gonna diminish Robin one bit or succeed in making him feel he has to defend himself. He's a champion and I'd want him on my debate team any day. Smart, funny ,polite, respectful but always capable of cleverly nailing anyone to the wall before they hardly knew what hit them. Better not talk to Robin or down to him unless you are prepared to be put in your place!
Robin Gibb, I don't think he ever spoke without speaking about something interesting, such a brilliant mind. I could listen to Robin Gibb for hours on end.
Robin was studious, a historian & well-versed in European culture, as well as the US, and Australia! He was well-prepared. I could just sit and listen to him for hours.
Robin had more sense in his little toe than this jerk has in his entire body. I love all your music, with your brothers and solo. You are one of a kind. I love you and miss your sweet voice. You will be in my heart forever. ❤️🌹❤️
This man is wonderful. I don't think anyone could outthink Robin. He has experienced so much. He saw to it the WWII soldiers had a huge statue, before he passed away. He wrote The Requiem for the Titanic shortly before his death. He is the most successful person I know of. God bless him. He truly cares. He was an amazing man. ❤️🌹❤️
Robin Gibb is a walking book of knowledge. No one can best this man. I understand what he says about happiness. Sorrow and dark times are what most artists feel drives them. I am an artist; when I paint it is, in part, to release my angst and put it into the painting, and those who look at it can see it for whatever it is to them. It's the same with music; feelings put into words. Does anyone think that happy songs and pretty pictures would paint their lives accurately? Robin is honest.
What a nasty piece of work that interviewer was, he tried to dominate Robin and was seriously out classed. Well done Robin you came across as the real gentleman we all know and loved..
Katherine Sage Oh, indeed he DID!!....Google up the Bomber Command Memorial in Greenspark London! As one old surviving soldier of the Bomber Command stated when he saw it..."Bloody Magnificent!!!"
Can see he already ill and so sad about it.. He has lost a lot ofweight.. Really poor.. He is a good, great, handsome guy, always will, awesome talented what he is doing, nice voice, sings so well with his brothers! He is always love by his fans around the world! RIP along with his brothers, Andy, Maurice.. What did the interviewer said? He is rude? ☹️

@@magg93 Unfornuately as you are arrogant and don't understand investigative journalism you are the stupid one. Watch this guys hundreds of other interviews. If he was incompetent why is he earning living doing what he is doing? Grow up and stop being a sycophant. He is not like a fool, you are
@@JulianGlass - I watch "Hard Talk" all the time and Robin knew what he was getting into and acquitted himself admirably. The journalist was not being mean, simply doing his job. At the end of the interview I am sure there were no hard feelings. I guess he should have asked him the usual sappy questions about the Bee Gees. If he did we would not have learned about Rob's true intellect and passionate causes. Robin was no fool. At the end, both smiled and shook hands, IMO, out of mutual respect.
The interview went the way Robin wanted to take it, it's beautiful to see inside of what makes,Robin tick. Brilliant mind and wasn't afraid to speak with passion for what he believed in.
Robin knew what he was in for when he went on,he would have been ready for the questions about Bomber Command and the future of the BG s.He was coming into a new sphere of his life and maybe oneday would have been a spokesman against war on the World stage.Lovely, honest man in touch with his self and his fans and just about everyone who met him.Go visit the memorial which is now proudly open to all at Greenpark and think of Robin and the boys of Bomber Command.xLesley
Yes, Robin for a man fabulous, unforgettable memories of my youth so rappy! I think we will never hear another voice like the great Robin again. You are always in my heart! I Love Beautiful Robin Angel! Sweet Voice, always in my life! Robin's Forever! Thank's Julian! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
A very very special human being, blessed beyond all measures out of this world. Talent given as a gift before we even knew. God bless our rob with angelic heavenly voice. Never be repeated or the same in anyways. World class, the best wel ever see or hear. Unique in every way. ❤❤❤ Missed so bad n will be always. Bless you our Rob. ,xxx
They will always be the Bee Gees. Robin is so right all of the war heroes need to be recognized because freedom isn't free. Why not him is a great thing he said. I miss him and his brothers. May they rest in peace.
@@kimpyeatt2595 I never thought of it quite like that, but you have a valid point. If Robin was being investigated for some corrupt thing, I would understand this guy's style. But Robin is a singer for Heaven's sake, not a politician. The interviewer should stick with interviewing politicians and such people.
RG talks about BCM as an anti-war-memorial. he talks about the necessarity of fighting against fascism and about young people who gave their lives to this fight. and the interviewer asks if he was too lucky in life that he had to do this campaign. - robin, you and the bee gees were often judged as something only to laugh about. but a lot of people always knew what you really were and love you because of that. really and sincerely. p.s.: i am from germany
Robin has stated that his work with the campaign to establish the Bomber Command Memorial was the thing that he is the Most Proud of. He said it meant More to him than All the awards and acknowlegements they received for their music thru-out the years. Robin truly Believed in this cause. It wasn't a popular cause to be involved in.. but Robin stood firmly behind it and pushed relentlessly to see it through. And It's a Beauuutiful thing to behold!!...If you haven't seen pictures of it, google the Bomber Command Memorial, in Greenspark London. Get ready to have your breath taken away!...I am SO proud of Robin.
of course he did. it was/is an absolutely important thing. and he explained why it is and also why it was so important to him. the question if he had to do this because he himself was too lucky in his life is a stupid offense which was to prevent a really important and interesting discussion. Robin was not a popstar who had to find new, exciting toys, he was always a thinking person with a great interest in history and politics, and it was a life-theme which finally induced him to do this campaign. and to do it in this brave, determined robin-gibb-way which anybody could know who takes a serious and kind look at the bee gees.
@@gloriamaryhaywood2217 IT CERTAINLY DID GIVE HIM FIRE IN THE BONES. ROBIN WAS A PASSIONATE HISTORIAN. SEVERAL MOMENTOUS EVENTS AND PEOPLE OF 20TH CENTURY.
@@hazzachannel1 totally agree, he was very passionate about history and spent a lot of money on it. he raised a lot of money singing with the solders on cd,s and concerts to help returned solders. he donated millions of dollars to childrens causes.he donated one of his songs to charity. he did many good things to better his country
I can relate to this. When people ask about the passing of my father I don't go into detail because I prefer to remember him alive. If you look at 2003 interviews, both Barry and Robin's responses are very different - they didn't want to continue without Maurice because it was too painful for them, but 9 years have passed and time is the only healer.
Robin Gibb, what a beautiful, intelligent man, what beautiful music. And as someone whose uncle [I sadly never knew him], was part of the Dam Busters raid and was shot down and killed over Germany aged 29yrs I am really grateful for Bomber Command Memorial. xxx
Dorothy Scarth I've seen pics of the Bomber Command Memorial, and a friend of mine, a long term fan of the Brothers Gibb, recently visited Greenspark in London where it is located. My word! It is simply Breath-Taking!...As an one old surviving soldier of the British Bomber Command stated...."Bloody Magnificent!!" So very, very Proud of Robin.
Dorothy Scarth - My dad was a Mosquito pilot in WW2 so I totally agree that this was a wonderful thing. Besides, those brave boys, and they were boys, shortened the war for the German people too. The politicians of Dresden didn't complain about the Blitzkrieg inflicted on London did they?
yes, host kept accusing the fact that their father 'pushed' them into entertainment but not true, the 3 boys pursued it themselves, and their dad merely helped them get into singing venues cause they were minors, but this guy kept repeating the fact that it was dangerous for his dad to do that, but wrong...the lads did it themselves. host just wasn't listening. the dad was utterly surprised of their talent and merely helped them along, but no, no credit to dad, those 3 chose to become all that they wanted to be, and their persistence paid off big time. Even the Beatles didn't have a saturday nite fever!
@@rosalindsey6841 - He did get the monument built and the Queen unveiled it. Sadly he died a month before it was unveiled but he knew it would happen and was lifted on a crane to see it under construction. There is actually some suggestion Robin should be knighted for his work (He was also President of the Heritage Society that designates historic sites in the UK). Unfortunately, at present people cannot be knighted posthumously but that policy may be changed and he was on the list. I would certainly vote for him. Barry was knighted even though he took up US/UK dual citizenship while Robin was always proudly BRITISH and did not! Robin certainly deserved it! He also did a lot of philanthropic work in the UK. As for the interviewer, that is how he interviews everyone and the title "Hard Talk" means precisely what it says. He is a journalist who asks hard questions of everyone, not to be mean, but to get the facts by challenging the interviewee. That's what a good interviewer does to get to the facts. I didn't think he was rude per se but straight forward. Robin certainly knew that and went in with his eyes wide open. It is still on the BBC and I watch it often. It is meant to ask hard questions and Robin acquitted himself very well. He was nobody's fool.
Agreed, Ya.., RUDE interviewer! Dont like his attitude, go back to school please ! Why is he pushing and pushing ? He better read this so he knows his stupidity..! He should be put him to a lower position of his job !!! We feel sad Robin is gone, he is a good man anyway and he has nice voice and sings well! The world enjoying it ! He writes music, just missed him so much.. Thank you Robin for showing ur beautiful music and songs.. We love u and ur brothers🙏♥️ May ur soul RIP!
that's one thing that maurice said in an interview that his bro.robin is really a book of knowledge you can ask robin everything & surely he will answered back w/ full of colors...indeed he' s a genius in all aspect...missed robin & mauruce& andy too.🙏🙏🙏
Robin contradicted himself which was stupid. He would know that's a huge no no on this show. Yes, he's well read and knowledgeable but that doesn't make him intelligent.
helios He’s a professional journalist. His job is to prod and question and cross examine. He’s not given Robin an unusually hard time he’s acquitting himself very well. If you’d had a chance of asking him I doubt he would have felt aggrieved.
@@simonamercuryjackson1874 This show is for hard talking. Robin knew what he was getting into when he agreed to appear, which was by choice, he wasn't forced.
The interviewer seemed to think that because Robin was an entertainer he was too shallow to truly recognize the importance of the sacrifice those people made. How sad.
People constantly refer to Saturday night fever as a bad thing. It is the biggest selling soundtrack of all time, give it the credit it deserves. Barry even said they can no longer wear white suits. No other artist in the disco genre gets the same ridicule.
I will never understand why reporters kept asking Robin why he didn't stand by something he said TWO weeks after his TWIN BROTHER died. He was was in a state of deep mourning. When the pain pain subsidized and they were able to think more clearly he and Barry probably realized that not even Maurice would want that. It doesn't take a genius to figure that out. Shame...
Again a journalist, who creates nothing and only leaches off the doings of others, won't shut up long enough for the interviewee to answer the damn questions! Massive respect for Robin here. Always one of my favourite songwriters, vocalists, comedians, personalities, and intellectuals.
