wow, saudara ku ( indonesia ), saya saudara mu ( malaysia ), ingin mengucapkan tahniah kerana pencak silat kamu menarik perhatian saya walaupun saya mengamalkan silat gayong... =)
one of the most mysterious, misunderstood and underestimated arts... Silat doesn't need to prove itself in the western sports or have to conform itself to the latest McDojo trends. It has been used centuries to defend the Malayan people to which matters most... life, liberty, and pursuit of happiness. There is an old Silat saying... you do not choose Silat, Silat chooses you.
its actually hella useful especially when ur foe is hella close and they are striking carelessly. come on you know it happens a lot at the bar and you know its fun fighting at the bar. but dang i wanna learn this style and all the other pencak silat.
Hello Lansanak! Nice to meet you. I think maybe you misunderstand me. I wanted to explain that it is not martial arts styles that make someone a warrior but the individual within a given style. Thank you for the cultural background explanation. I have great respect for the style and your people. I learn as much as I can from others. Thanks for teaching me something new today.
Well, the issue on that is they're not supposed to be kicking towardsthe inner thigh; it's just below the side of the knee. Imagine someone performing a dropkick to that part of your leg, while your momentum goes forward. Its meant to break the leg, not simply hurt you. Now I'm not saying it's the greatest form, hell I don't even practice it (muay thai, pekiti tirsia kali, and my primary form is Capoeira), but I've sparred against some truly talented and nasty silat fighters, respect to them.
silat is a self defence art...if the followers were good at it...they can beat anyone...this also apply to all martial arts...its not about the art, its about how good you are.
silat born from culture not from practition as u said as it born from minangkabau culture that every boy untill he get mature must be outside from house, he must sleep at surau(prayer place, there they learn how to read holy qur'an and in the night they learn silek), house just for woman, and when he get mature he must marantau(go to other area to get experient of life) and backhome to get married thats our culture the minangkabau culture thank to Allah the greatest
this i quite true. I met one man, who was trained in silat, he was also trained in china and some spetsnaz stuff. A man of fantastic quality, dangerous as a real tiger, he showed me how good silat stuff actually is. I must say that silat ground fighting is incredible in it's deadliness. guys on the vid look like nerds.
as kuntawista said, BBJ only focused in one person while U r down there, in the street while there is much more than one enemy, the other oponents will kick U in the head
Drawing comparisons between martial arts styles is for ego filled newbies. The truth is that it is not the style but the practitioner that makes it work. It is pure arrogance to say something doesn't wok if you don't train in that style and have not tried to put it to use. It is blatant disrespect to those that came before you and paved the way for you to even learn what you know today. Have some class and workout with someone from the style and maybe you will truly learn something.
ha3 muay thai/tomoi memang hebat tp tomoi sndiri pun byk kalah dgn lawan jenis bergelut (gusti, judo, jiujitsu, brazillian jiujitsu) skang ni sibuk masukkan silibus bergelut kt dlm sistem dorg. usahkn kalah dgn lawan jenis bergelut jer.. lawan dgn spesis berdiri penumbuk, penendang, penerajang mcm tomoi sendiri pun byk kalah. cthnye tomoi vs shanshou/sanda, muaythai/ tomoi vs savate, muaythai vs let wei, muay thai vs kyokushin karate dll lg la.
I practice muai thai. I am quite familiar with the value\pain of an inner thigh kick. His was just exceptionally worthless. I have a couple of buddies who practice silat, and they can't fight. They are tough and talented, but they cant stand up with a boxer, and they can't roll with a wrestler. Silat requires a belief in magic. I believe in physics and bio-mechanics. Silat does not utilize either in a particularly impressive way.
@@silatguy I wrote my original comment a very long time ago. I am sure the guy in the video is tough, and he is likely far more dedicated to what he does than I ever was or will be to anything I do. Apparently, I watched this video and had some urge to talk trash. Sorry if I made you mad (even a little). Life is too short for bad feelings, and RU-vid comments can create a lot of them (for whatever reason). It is unfortunate that BS comments like mine just sit there forever. I doubt I ruined your day, but my comment gave you enough of a bad/charged feeling that you replied. The offense is probably somewhere between bumping into someone on the street and flipping off another driver, but as someone who is trying to get away from the pointless bad feelings of life, I am sorry for that.
@@slaphappyjacko it's ok, I don't totally disagree with you I was just going to say there are some silat schools that train mechanics really hard and are very tough. I have seen and been at both of each. Some of the practitioners also had 5-30 years background in multiple arts and considered what they studied then the best. I still think boxing, muy thai, etc are great but I am a big fan of silat and it's (potential) with a good teacher.
too slow n make a big jump by the time his enermy should already wake up..i not pro but just give a small comment..nice art but too slow for real combat
I think it's absolutely pointless to have the facility for viewers to post comments on videos of this nature. It only attracts the most moronic statements from the most narrowminded people, who haven't got a single intelligent thought in their heads!
x payah arr ko nk wat hal kt sini cik faizal kt malaysia dah lame dah ade silat ni..x payah arr lepas ni ko nk cari publisiti murahan plak kate malaysia claim silat indonesia plak..
