It's same and more then super mind blowing feeling like we saw when tars the box shaped robot reviled that it has legs and arms by moving those legs and started running towards crew to rescue with its arms when big waves started to strike on water planet in Interstellar movie and when tumbler batmobile get damaged Batman activates the motorcycle mode and both left and right front wheels of tumbler shift to sides automatically to become a rear and front wheels of batpod motorcycle and to our surprise and shock some parts of front end of tumbler Transformers into a coolest batpod (unlike any bike we scene before any of Batman movies not even Nolan's own Batman begins which is part one of dark knight.) and then that batpod come out of tumbler and run straight. Even if we knew that there will be batpod in movie beacuse of trailer we didn't even have a slightest idea and imagination that this is how batpod will be introduced in dark knight backi in 2008 in our wildest dream we had less then zero imagination and that scene just captured our imagination. Even all transformer movies pales in comparison to that scene. That batpod scene deserves the standing ovation in the theatre halls when it begins. Now that batpod scene is old and classic but it was far far way ahead of its time and era, it is timeless and never will go out of fashion (just remeber just seeing that scene first time in theaters) iam Not a cringeworthy or cringe type fanboy or fanboy of Denis and Nolan but i have to say and admit that Genius and original ideas which are inside minds of Denis villuvene and Nolan get displayed in thier scenes of movies. And we get to see orginal and never scene before scenes and ideas even if we have experience of watching tens of thousands of movies and even if we are most evolved movie goers. This geniuses doesn't fail to explode our mind and aww inspire us.
I love the director man, I wasn't too sure on Dune but I eventually went to see it because of the director and I'm glad I did, I loved his bladerunner film too.
Best thing is that they are portrayed as cowards. They are only brutal when they can have the upper hand, otherwise they are all self preserving bitches.
That would be intense!! Their team could never lose with fan service like that!! I was a Marine for ten years and unlike a lot of others, I loved Drill & Cadence. It was probably my 2nd favorite thing in boot camp apart from shooting. Call and response cohesion is a human language in itself and it resonates in small or large groups.
@@winstonpeanutbutterNo, it wouldnt. Since when is soccer brutal? Your soccer stars are like American basketball players who cry over imagined injuries.
This pretty much is what a futuristic Middle Earth would look like if Sauron succeeded. Except everything would probably be red instead of black and white.
The black and white motif to all Harkonnen culture was a genius touch. Really evokes the Giver+1984. All Harkonnen citizens have dull, drab half-existences.
Thematically it also fits them because they have a very simplistic existence, seeing everything as black and white, and they live by pleasure alone. Whereas Paul with his prescience sees all possible futures, many colors, and does "what must be done" rather than what gives him pleasure.

The artillery vehicles are a masterpiece in visual and audio design. They look like wingless moths with their bellies full of rocket launchers pointing directly forward. Love it.
1:14 The way the annoucer shouts *FEYD RAUTHA* is envigorating. Post edit: Denis Villeneuve is absolutely inspired. The most memorable moments have these chants and Sardukar (mongolian throat) singing. All based around the human voice.
@@____Carnage____ The announcer literally says it "Under the light of our glorious black sun...". The sun over Giedi Prime emits infrared light, and that's why Harkonnen are only dressed in black or white. There's no color to see when outside anyway. But the overindustrialisation adds to it. Giedi Prime is so polluted that even the Harkonnen's blood has the chemicals in it, as the Fremen stated when they took the water of the Harkonnen soldiers they killed
Yea, GW used to be a business that sold various scifi and nerd stuff. So they kinda mashed a buncha tropes together to make 40k. The Navis Nobilite was heavily inspired by the Navigators of the spacing guild and God Emperor as...well...from the worm god emperor later on.
The sound design of the Harkonnen's was unbelievable. The chants, the creepy voices anf the language of the Harkonnen, which almost sounds like a disgusting violations of your ears, totally mesmerized me.
They need to be elaborated on further, I’ve never seen them mentioned that much. They’re probably “tanks” or some other form of ground vehicle. I would actually be interested in seeing more unique vehicle designs in future Dune movies.
I genuinely can not believe this, ever since i saw this scene i wanted to get back home and hear it again, NEVER THOUGHT YOUD BE THE ONE TO POST IT after 4 years!!

It sounded a lot like the Uruk-Hai warcries and how the orcs and uruks from Sauron besieging Minas Tirith. *This part between [ ] is to be picky with, for I tried my best to decipher what's behind the crescendo.
I honestly think that's a good attempt right there (didn't read the novels tho) But considering that the roots of the harkonnen are estimated to be from Finnland + their role as agressive people made those consonants and apostrophe-placements all the more fitting. But again, I'm just an amateur on that departmend
Harkonnens arent supposed to be from Finland but from Russia, the baron name after all is Vladimir... The writter said he found family name in the phone book and sound to hime very "Soviet" so he added Vladimir to complete that evil russian vibe.
between the Sardaukar chant from part 1 and the Giedi Prime scenes in part 2, Dune makes me feel the same sort of way LOTR made me feel when Easterlings and Haradrim showed up
That scene... in cinema I felt like being offered to the Harkonnens. From 0:38 I couldnt help but tap my feet on the rythm, especially my 2nd and 3rd viewing. Its just so moving. The whole atmosphere and the chanting, alongside the Sardaukar, is pure perfection. People that know me always ask whats your favorite movie and I never have a number 1 spot, but dang does Dune (part one and two) come closest of me saying, yes there is a number 1 spot.
I love how the symbol of House Harkonnen could be interpreted as either the black sun of Geidi Prime or a hook to symbolise their brutality and ruthlessness.
It becomes interesting too - because in the books their symbol is the Griffin, but in the video games and Brian Herbert novels, their symbol is a bull or ram-head. The bull is quite a wonderful symbol, because it mirrors their aggressive nature, their emphasis toward domination, and a connection through the manner in which The Old Duke Atreides lost his life to a Salusan bull. No matter the symbol, most of these images communicate a house that is aggressive, sadistic, domineering. A culture utterly obsessed with control at any cost and to every pleasure.
During the dinner party in the novel, Jessica at one point notices a Harkonnen spy by his Giedi Prime accent. Even I would notice if somebody talked to me like that.
That one Harkonnen retaliation scene, were they all looked uncertain and one of them puked from nervousness, humanized the common Harkonnen troopers more than Star Wars managed to humanize the stormtroopers in 6 movies (thr prequels are exempt)
Harkonnen's were more alien and otherworldly than the majority of alien races in other fictional universes. There's weight to the design of Dune, to the point that it made a universe with only humans feel more exotic than science fiction universes with a thousand sentient alien races.
Man, it’s like night and day comparing Dune Part Two to Rebel Moon Part Two, Dune is sci-fi done right and Rebel Moon is what a child thinks sci-fi is.
harkonnen>sardukars ... i am sorry but when I saw this scene in the Cinema with my ex we were both fraked out lmao, we had to go the next day again and re-watch it just for that arena scene alone, Jesus H. Christ.
Сцена боя на арене сделал почти весь фильм. Также как сцена с наймом сардаукаров сделала первую часть затмив положительных героев своей харизматичной брутальностью.
As a new fan of the Dune series, I was not aware of the depths of the Harkonnens' depravity. Slowly but surely, I'm realizing the true nature of their house's evil. Like the Dark elves of warhammer fantasy, this is a cruel people, to whom death is not a tragedy, but simply an occurrence.
@@haitaelpastor976 by what measure? To my understanding, even as normal humans, the harkonnens are universally hated. The plot is compelling, the largely abstract art style is a wonderful choice for Arrakis, and the retelling of the war for Arrakis is exciting and emotional.
@@paytonkraft7564 "by what measure?" By too many, but let's list some: - Lady Jessica did not breed a male because she wanted to breed the Kwisatz Haderach, but out of true honest love for the Duke. Further events she did not really foresee. But of course, it's modern feminist Hollywood... women can never love men. - Dr. Yueh's arc lacks context. He was never suspected to be a traitor because potato, but because he was a Suk, so he went through a proccess known as "Imperial Conditioning", which in theory prevents him to willingly harm a human being and betray his patrons. It was only through the machinations of Piter de Vries that, for the first time registered, Imperial Conditioning was broken, and de Vries was not just a mentat, he was a Twisted Mentat, born out of an Axolotl Tank. - To the above we have that both Gurney Halleck and Thufir Hawat were blinded by their suspicions about Jessica, who would be believed as the potential traitor, given her Bene Gesserit upbringing, because the Gesserit first and foremost owe their loyalty to their order. Again, nothing about that is mentioned. - The villains, the Harkonnens, are plain. They're the villains because they're the villains. Nothing is told about their ancient feud with the Atreides. And even worse, the Baron never appears as the mastermind of intrigue and manipulation that he is in the novel. The Baron is not just an "evil fatso", is a man everyone in the Landsraad not only despises, but FEARS. - Liet Kynes is not a black woman in the novels, it's a white born man that only got a bronze skin through his prolonged life with the Fremen. Again, woke Hollywood doing stupid things. - The movie is missing a key, and I mean a KEY character: Paul's sister Alia. It is implied that somewhere in the future she'll be born, but that's a shattering of the story at so many levels. It's because of Lady Jessica undergoing the Water of Life ritual while pregnant with her that Alia becomes a full Reverend Mother even before given birth, with all that the event implies. Oh, and it's Alia who kills the Baron, simply with a poisoned knife.
@@golagiswatchingyou2966 It feels more like a H.R. Giger thing than anything, a world-building choice that seems to explain aspects of their culture somewhat. It's possible a literal black sun could be commentary on far-right authoritarianism or etc, but it seems a bit of a stretch; especially when compared to the very unsubtle Nuremberg rally/North Korea-esque march at the very end of Geidi prime scenes.
The emperor wanted the Atredies gone because they were getting too popular. Their “voice was rising” as the Baron said in the first movie. I doubt the Harkonnen were very popular considering their brutality.
@@carsondrover5028 Harkonnens were hated and vilified by everyone, emperor included. They were a disgraced house that rose again thanks to trade and shady financial shenanigans.
You went from this to Chani pouting on a sand dune (again) Stilgar blissed out on Lisan Al Gaib (again) and Paul making a tiktok rant in front of the tribes. I don't think this movie intended for us to suddenly find the Harkonnen's more bad ass than the Fremen, but that's what happened.
To be honest, I prefer the Harkonnen faction as they were in the previous movies and video games. Also consider the fact that if they won the war, billions of lives would have been saved, so they weren't necessarily evil, just cruel and greedy like all the other factions. Note: What I love about Frank Herbert is that he makes the audience cheer for the true villain in the story. Absolute genius!!!
Only the book was written WAY before any of the Game of Thrones books. Also while Dune is set in an alternate universe, earth is actually mentioned a couple times. It's a nuclear waste land
