Love the way you say "it's down to preference" as it is each to his own. Here in the UK, I am still a learner and as you probably know we are stuck with 125cc till we pass our test. I have a little Suzuki Marauder and put on floorboards and a heel-toe, they are the best things I have added to her. The top speed is only 60mph with the wind behind me. But most of my driving is in 40mph restricted roads so this makes it a great commuting bike for me. What you teach is great for all motorcycles, not just the big heavyweights.
@paullee6663
@paullee6663 4 года назад
* Donald McPherson personally I wouldn't be spending any more money on your Marauder, as trust me, when you have passed your 'test' you'll want to be 'trading up' as soon as you can afford it. Make sure you are 100% capable with the floorboards, gear change and braking before your test. I've seen on here very experienced motorcyclists not enamoured with heel toe shifters. Good luck on your test and welcome to the fold!

Just a kind of FYI. Victory didn't really "go out of business" in a sense that most people think. Victory was being sold I believe at the same time as Indian, but the first year of Indian sales, sold more bikes their first year of release than Polaris sold the victory line their entire 8 years. People wanted them both to stay going but it was smart for Polaris to shut the Victory line down, they'd be competing against themselves. And having to run parts, and service, and tooling for a line of Motorcycles that really just didn't sell all that well would have cost them unnecessary money.

I loved my Chieftain when I had it. The main issue is the infotainment system doesn't respect battery level. So if it sits for several days 7-10 days, make sure you start it before you try putting in gps info. Or put it on a tender. The infotainment system boots so fast, it can power draw the battery so hard it kills the bike. The Indian suspension is light years above the stock Harley suspension. I wish the Chieftain had a 6gal tank. The new Challenger does. this is my exp, and opinion.

That was fun. Challenger next? I live about 10 minutes from one of the highest volume Victory / Indian dealers in the country, so I see a lot of them. The Harley dealer is even closer. And to tell you the truth I find the variety, refreshing. I get to enjoy a lot of eye candy in my neck of the woods. Choice...it's an American thing! In Soviet Union they have freedom of speech. In America we have freedom after speech...it's a nice touch!

I have a 2015 Roadmaster Indian. I have been having two wheel fun since '71 on the highways. This bike is the best handling big bike I've ever rode. The rear suspension is air ride adjustable. The bike has plenty of power with my wife and me on it, and a really fine tune ride. My bike is bone stock. The only gripe I have is the radio is not as nice as the HDs I've owned. It just does not pick up very well, but I guess that is from the antenna being positioned so low.

I've ordered 5 of these levers and always sent back the stock lever so there was never a charge on my credit card. Had I NOT sent back the stock lever, I would have been charged, understandably 50 dollars more. I have sent 100's of people to softbrake and no one has ever been scammed. It sounds like a simple misunderstanding.

Nice, quick, and dirty comparison. I owned lots of Harleys for over 30 years, mostly Softails. My last one was a Fatbob though, and probably the best handling HD I ever owned. Then I bought a Chief Vintage to compliment the Fatbob, and eventually traded that on a Chieftain. So now two Indians. Even now, I think HD has a bit better finish, but I love the look of the valanced fenders, the suspension, and the Indian engines are a work of art. Also, the HD in this comparison is 114 cube, compared to a stock 111 (not even a stage 1 kit on it). So it's going to be a little "less" right off the bat. That said, I agree the throttle control is totally different on the Indians, and can take a little to get used to. I'm keen to test the Challenger, but for now, I'm happy with my mini "tribe" :) ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-c0x8rmQQ3_0.html

@@roar666 No need to get your panties in a bunch, pal. You said stock 111...the 116 is now stock in most bikes. No, it doesn't have anything to do with the review Jerry did...it pertained to your comment about the 111 being a little less that the 114 off the bat...and that's why I mentioned that now the 116 is standard and would make up for any "less" the Indian 111 felt.

Victory was a good motorcycle, Indian is just a name brand that Polaris bought. Doesn't take anything away from the bike by what it's called, but doesn't add historical value either.

guys does the history or brand name really matter? What matters is the product you’re about to lay your hard earned money down on. Both brands sell a great product, as does several other manufacturers, we just need to do our due diligence and figure out which bike is best for us. The bike that’s best for me may not be best for you. It’s awesome that we have choices and able to support many different companies, which in turn evolve, improve and continue to provide us with choices. It would be boring if there was only 1 brand monopolizing the motorcycle market and restricting our purchase options. All motorcycles brands and models are great, people are unique and are best suited to various models based on personal preference. Thank god for our unique tastes and personalities, it keeps life extremely interesting . Love these videos and subsequent debates/opinions, please keep em coming and let’s all not forget that we’re all brothers on this Chanel that share the same passion for the way motorcycling makes us feel, not a single motorcycle brand, but motorcycling in general. Ride safe and ride often brothers.

@@Shaken_AND_Stirred H-D was owned by AMF, then bought them back.Polaris bought the branding of Indian, then brought it into the present, maintaining the original styling. But, it is an original bike in the sense, other than the looks ( front fender ) it's a completely original bike. Believe me, I had a '47 Chief as my first bike... the NEW Indian shares nothing mechanically remotely near the original. Yeah, they capitalized on a name, and it seems like a wise decision, it's working for them. Jus sayin'.

One thing worth noting might be that Indian bikes currently have a better customer satisfaction rating than Harleys... that is to say, they seem to have less mechanical issues. Nothing worse than spending a ton of money on a new toy and then having to spend a bunch more to FIX the thing. #Motorman: Do you think (or have you HEARD any rumors) we might see Indian get back into the police market in the near future?

The big advantage of owning a Harley is the huge aftermarket selection that allows you to change the seat, handlebars, foot controls to fit each individual Harley rider vs buying an Indian big twin.
@SpykeZ0129
@SpykeZ0129 4 года назад
I don't know why people say Indian doesn't have aftermarket or are you people just too lazy to look so you can justify sucking on that Harley logo? Anything that's customizable on an Indian has huge aftermarket. Want a different seat? Corbin, Mustang, Saddlemen, Ultimate Seats, SS Custom Cycle. Handle Bars? Indian alone makes different sets. Dirty Bird makes them. Arleness, Klockwerks (or however you spell their weird name). Foot controls? Can't name them all off the top of my head but Arleness and Kuryakyn pretty much have every aspect of that covered. Want performance? We got about 5 companies making cams. Countless that make Intakes. Hell Lloydz even makes his own Big Bore Kit (121ci) and if you want to get crazy, has a bolt on super charger kit for the TS111 engines. Oh but what about windshields, ya we got like 4 companies making those. Want a custom leather crotch saver that blocks off the rear head? Ya we got that too. Exuast? 3 companies making True Duals last I checked (I have the freedom set), I forget how many are making x-pipes, probably close to 10 companies making slip on mufflers, so you get the sound you want. Bassani, Rinehart, Rush, Cobra, Vance n Hines, Freedom, Indian Aftermarket, Dirty Birds, Tab Performance, Dr. Jekill & Mr. Hyde just off the top of my head. www.indianmotorcycles.net/threads/indian-links-master-list.269308/ literally spend a few minutes fact checking your dumb statements.
