It's your starter drive clutch, you can put theist powerful starter on the planet in but if you can't connect it to the pinion gear, it'll just squeal away
mickjaeil martinez no it’s just a sprag type clutch that “slips” in order to keep from fragmenting the starter and primary parts, in the all too common cold start engine backfire event where the motor is pushing one direction and the engine suddenly explodes in the opposite direction, for half a rotation they wear out, search online for the “All Balls Starter Drive Clutch” copy and paste these words, but make sure to verify visually, actual names of parts are often mislabeled or misstated out of (it’s actually some such or another but that’s what we call that!”)
Here’s a jp cycles link www.jpcycles.com/product/630-299/all-balls-racing-starter-clutch it may not be for your year and model make sure you reference it
Trying to get the nut off mine, jackshaft keeps spinning. I got a new pinion gear, one-way gear some call it, but I can’t get the old one out. Gotta be a trick to it. No circlip no key just a nut. Grabbing the old pinion gear does nothing the shaft still just spins away…fk!
