We're glad you're all enjoying our blast from the past overviewing the new Harmony Guitar range! Make sure to stay tuned as we have plenty more Harmony videos on the way, going in-depth with each of the new models! 🤘
I recently inherited my late grandfather’s 1959 Harmony H65 archtop and H306 amp. Had the amp serviced and it sounds great. Guitar will be next. I love hearing his “voice” come through his rig 25 years after his passing.
This was a great idea to bring these back, as I don't think I'd want to wade into the murky waters of trying to find a good vintage Harmony guitar, and getting them playable would likely be a challenge. A brand new line of American-made reissues makes more sense to me, as someone who is neither a collector or a guitar tech, just looking for something different than Fender or Gibson.
Oh Captain my Captain… You have been practicing! I've been watching Anderton TV for about four years now and I will say if you can do it I better get on the stick and do it too because although I've been playing while you've passed me up. Which is not saying much but still you have improved your improvisation multi fold! I guess it's another product of Covid but nevertheless I'm impressed! Love the show as always.
Nice to see Harmony back, and great jam today, Lee & Pete, thanks. Folks, if you've not see it, 'The Captain Meets His Dad' episode is well worth watching from start to finish, even if you have to watch it in instalments!
My first electric was a 1967 Harmony Rocket with dual mustache pickups. Bought it in 1995 for $75 at a pawn shop. I still have it and it's my favorite. All I've done to it is replace the tuners and clean the pots. Anyone who says the vintage ones are crap haven't played one.
I'm actually playing my dads 56' harmony branded holiday h16 bobkat in my profile picture. Such a unique sound. They aren't worth very much at all, but I wouldn't sell either way. Love it.
My father has a late 50’s Harmony Sovereign acoustic, fond memories of singing along as a family with my dad playing and singing. He still has it, but it’s confined to its case now as the bridge is lifting.
My first ever electric guitar was a Harmony. I bought it and a matching color amp and cabinet from a guy in high school for $40 in 1987. Wish I still had it.
We hipsters from the 60s played the acoustic Harmony Sovereign H1260 which I still have mine from 1972. Many early blues players like Mance Lipscomb played Harmony too. Cheers, sideman
With the best will in the world, the lovely pic of your dad in 1964 just screams Alan Partridge to me. (Harmony? They've re-badged it, you fool). The recent video interview you did with your pop is one of the most engaging and touching I've seen.
Just a quick one to say that your service is top notch captain. Ordered the boss sy1 at 2 o'clock yesterday and it was at my door at 9 this morning! 😊👍
Hi again...just come over from the juno vid and again would like to let you know that I am listening without headphones on a laptop not renowned for quality sounds out of the speakers and these guitars have done something magical at Andertons, the sound from the vid's is in my opinion, is quite awesome, who needs computers and DAW's. inspired your playing me thinks. Ta for now.
My first guitar is a Harmony Classical I bought in 1970 new. I recently replaced the tuning machines and made it playable for the first time in probably 30 years.
I love my mid-60s MIA Harmony H72V (w/factory Bigsby and gold foil DeArmond pups). Weighs almost nothing and has the grooviest vintage vibe. I've only had it a few years but they cost $249.50 in 1967 - which would be almost $2k today!
Man is it just me or does the Captain vibe well with that one in the intro. That’s a great neck pup tone. It’s like a fat Fender with that hollow tubular tone
I tried a used one at guitar center the fret works is so well done. Checked a new one to be sure if the used was worked on, but seems the new one also had the same amazing curved fret work done so well.
I started learning to play the guitar in 1967, and it was an acoustic. For Christmas of 1969 my folks gave me a Harmony electric guitar. They got it from the Sears catalogue for around $40 American.
My first guitar was a Harmony Bobkat. That was the late 60's early 70's , but in the early 80's it disappeared! Stolen? I will probably never know. I've been drooling ever since this new line of Harmony guitar came out. I will own a Silhouette!!! ✌👽👍🎸🎼🎶🎵🧠🌌♾
My first guitar was Harmony Rocket single cut semi and I had a National amp. It had one knob to turn it on and off plus it was the volume control. Tube amp of course.
My first guitar was a Harmony acoustic and I still have it 30 years later and I have an old 1970s H-802 in mint condition. Also so have my oldest daughter the middle name Harmony since playing guitar means so much too me
Awesome! I've been really interested in the new Harmony's for a while. I love their retro vibe and unique styling. Everything I've seen about them indicates that they are seriously good. The price for a somewhat "niche" USA-built guitar is nice too. I'll be in the market for a new electric in a few months' time, and I want something distinct from all my others (sound- and looks-wise), so one of these could tick all the proverbial boxes.
Wow Lee! That outro was amazing. Pete of course great as always, but man, I actually think I preffered Lee in that outro :D Nasty and gnarly - beautiful!
Made me homesick! My first guitar was a mid 60s Harmony red with white pickguard S-style with a little reverb and tremolo Silvertone. Rocked me some Crimson and Clover riffs on that bad boy... both are looooong gone now unfortunately
My very first instrument purchase was a Harmony bass guitar in 1978. It was a copy of the Gibson EB-3 (SG bass). I ordered it from a JC Penney catalog for $69. It wasn't a bad bass.
Love the channel, entertainment galore. I would like to hear a bit more from Pete. I get the idea he has to squeeze his opinions in as fast as he can between Lee doing his stuff?
Great outro jam! My parents bought me a Harmony 12-string semi-hollow electric for my 13th birthday. I was thrilled until I realized what they had saddled me with. But at least my first guitar wasn’t a cheap acoustic. ;-)
Harmony makes guitars I wish the other major American brands would release. Offsets, DCs, LP-ish, all amazingly appointed with classic American finishes. Tough choice between Harmony and G&L for an offset with HH. And may I say that the Captain's has gotten insanely better over the last year or so. One upside to COVID and having Danish Pete around.
My first guitar was a Harmony. Around '85, Sears model, the cheapest of the cheap. Unfortunately, mine was a piece of crap. Lol. A friend of mine had one that was a step above mine in the range and his was pretty great. I'm looking forward to seeing more!
I do believe the vintage Harmony guitars are undervalued and under appreciated. I played many ‘Cheapies’ at Sears in the 60’s and some were awesome but many were almost unplayable. These new Harmony guitars look well made and sound great. I’m interested.
Wouldn’t say I would purchase one to be my go to instrument, but would definitely love to have one in the stable for some inspiration when things get a little stale.
