Harry Potter Books | French Deluxe Slipcase Editions 

As a French guy, it was awesome to hear Peter try to read the book titles!

Oh, those are gorgeous. I've been studying French for a few years and have read the first two books in French. Did you know a magic wand is called a Baguette Magique? It cracks me up every time!

Those are gorgeous, and I totally see why you love them. I love the book content segments. I learn so much from these types of reviews/features and, plus we get to see special editions that we might not have the opportunity to do so otherwise. Beyond the ultimate signed or ultra rare author editions everyone wants, are there any prints/editions you deeply desire to have in your regular collection but have yet to come across them for sale or have access to buy them?

French speaker and compulsive re-reader of Harry Potter books in french AND in english here, which made me discover a few differences between the original books and their translation ! I actually have a whole document with the list of differences I found throught my re-readings, from meaning lost in translation, to changes ( a spell that makes things glow in english makes things change colors in french ;) ), to suppressions and even add-ons !!! I have the Folio junior pocket size serie, and I'm only missing the seventh book to make it complete ( I'm re-reading from another one of the adulte version in french, and from a hard cover in english, with a greywash owl and Hogwarts art on the dust jackets ) Not perfect for the pronounciation of the titles, but not too bad ! Fun fact, the original Gallimard edition (the one you call Adult Edition ^^) has the same artwork as the Folio Junior (aka, pocket edition)'s one The Gallimard edition you own must be more recent ^^ EDIT : Also, I'm glad to hear you'll do more book related videos in the future :) Nothing against the boxes, parks, merchandising.... videos of course, but your channel is one of the only ones that shows us the different books, and I really like this aspect (not sure about the word here?) of the channel :)

the set is gorgeous! a small detail i noticed from your video and loved is the fact that in the spine of the books you have small stars to say which number of the series the book is, so pretty

I bought that edition of POA in a previous Potter Collector sale so it was nice to see the other books in this style! I’ve studied French since middle school and I am slowly working my way through the book. I can tell by Peter’s “creative” pronunciation that he took Spanish in high school. 😀

Hi, I'm a French bookseller. Actually, we do not have "Adult" or "Children" edition for Harry Potter. In France, we have, two different edition for every books which are published. They are called "Grand Format" (Big size) and " poche" (pocket size). What you have is that. The big book you called "Adult" is the original edition published. The Folio one is the "poche". It's published a year or more after the publication of the big sized one. It's less expensive for small budget. :)

Any chance you could show me a comparison of the font sizes of the French versions? I’m learning French and want to be able to write out translations on the page. I can’t find this info anywhere.

I own the paperback versions of these books. I love them so much, they've been with me since I was 6 years old for the first book ❤

Books with original artworks are so great ! It is really cool because some publisher instead of hiring someone to draw artworks are simply buying permission to use UK or US cover arts and their books are missing personality .

YES! I love your book videos. These are really great books. such different and quirky artwork. Now I'm going to have to buy them. The search begins.

These are just phenomenal! The artwork is perfect and so beautiful. By looking at the “texture” of the illustrations it seems they are made using oil pastels. So if the originals are somewhere out there they are probably extremely rare and very fragile. Great video as always looking forward to more book presentations!

I love how each book is colored differently. I love the artwork of each book. Great try of saying the titles. I remember taking French in high school, so I remember some of the words.

I love these book-specific videos. Glad you are planning to do more of them, Peter! And I agree with you: I think the Deathly Hallows edition of this series is the most stunning, though I also loved Half-Blood Prince.

One interesting thing is that the first book in french translates to Harry Potter and the school for wizards!

These are so lovely. The Goblet of Fire is my favourite book and film but the artwork on all these is wonderful. The last one was so sad but so beautifully captured. Loved seeing your print by the same artist.

I’m from the french speaking side of Switzerland and I’ve never seen the Deluxe versions of the books. The books themselves are gorgeous but I really hate the artwork on the HP books (they were always the same since they were published and never changed). Juste my personal opinion, but aI find the artwork ugly (even as a kid I though so). So I don’t have the French versions in my collection at all; only multiple English collections! 🤪😅🤣

in french whenever you see an "e" just say it like (eu..) like in english ( euleur's number ) (for example ) not like "é" in french its like (elephent .like ayyy )(in english ) see the difference

what about plastic wrapping increasing the risk of mould, if any moisture does get in, though? also you can't speak to the quality of the book inside if you can't examine it. let's normalise no shrink wrap on books

Peter, I have to tell you that this video made me so excited to add these editions to my collection and then you dropped the price and I was 😅😅 I think I will eventually add these in the future for a myriad of reasons. Mostly because I love the French language and I'm learning, plus the artwork and the gold pages have won me over. I have to agree that my favorite art is also the Deathly Hallows book. I love the expression on Harry's face and the way the scene portrays the sea breeze. It's absolutely breathtaking. Also, RIP Dobby, you free elf!🦋Loved this video! Amazing job!

I am a french student, and I really want the french versions of the books but they’re so hard to find, especially ones with beautiful covers! Your french may need some work 😂 but it a difficult language to pronounce as a lot of letters are silent 😂

Man ,there are some french vowels that u just cant explain to other language speakers,try getting an american to pronounce "feu" lol!!!!,in my country we start learning french from the age of 8-9 so its fairly ez for us to speak in addition to our genetic ability to prounce every letter sound there is

I grew up reading those books. They are so beautiful. Btw Your pronunciation is not bad. Just don't pronunce the T in mort and for the letters with the apostrophes you just have to read like if they were part of the word. Ex: Lécole , Dazkaban, Lordre

I'm a huge fan of slip covers, be it books or albums etc. Seeing the small square picture in the middle of the book is just like putting cherry on top. I loveeeee how they look. Super pretty 😍 💕 Edit: I love blue, but mostly the sky blue like in PoA book. But the teal color is pretty too.
