The smirks make me shudder. It's called Narcissism🤦🏽‍♀️ One of my many close Jewish family friends, who I grew up with, is a professor at Harvard - they're giving him a hard time. I can't wrap my mind around it - our parents fought in civil rights movement together! Many of the beautiful things I learned and experienced about my own black culture - in the US and around the world - were from his parents. I baby sat him and his siblings while their dad was protesting Apartheid in South Africa. We cheered watching him being arrested on tv lol! Aaaall my family's many close Jewish friends - most of them offspring of Holocaust survivors and victims - fought in the civil rights movement with my family. My grandfather (he's white - I'm mixed), recruted and trained his Jewish medical students at Einstein to be Freedom Riders. I remember when being a true liberal meant being intellectually and emotionally intelligent. The snakes in grass of Communism play the long game. It's VERY dark, and the rabbit hole goes deep. The only way to make sense of ot all is to know this is about a spiritual war between good and evil, and empathy is weaponized. The reason for Jew hatred, antisemitism for thousands of years, is a spiritual one. Maranatha.

I’m sure they would’ve answered similarly if the question was “is it considered harassment if you misgender someone?” Or “is it harassment to call for the reinstatement of the confederacy to black students?”

I attended state colleges. I actually scored higher in the GRE than most Harvard graduates. Education is what one makes of it.

It’s interesting that Stefanik is a Harvard grad. You are 100% correct that these university presidents claiming that calling for the mass murder of Jews requires “context” before deciding if it classifies as bullying or harassment should immediately disqualify them from their job. As to Gay claiming that Harvard values free speech, that’s an obvious, blatant and laughable lie. Where was their concern about free speech when politically conservative speakers were banned from campus and leftist professors were bullying and intimidating students into parroting their Marxist views, fearful of being academically punished for voicing conservative opinions?

You cannot hide behind free speech when you have not supported it. My one regret is that it took personal experience and impact against people with power and money for repercussions to be felt. Reminds me of that poem, "First they came..." People so willing to do nothing when they weren't directly affected.

When witnesses refuse to answer YES orNO questions with a YES or NO, they should be held in contempt of Congress!

It wasn’t the demonstrators that bother me , it was their violent behaviour, that included universities in Canada. Very disappointed in their behaviour.

Claudine Gay is just the face. She was appointed by The Board of Trustees of the California State University, in partnership with the Chancellor, is responsible for the recruitment, selection and appointment of each campus president. These are the people that needs to be expose. They are responsible for all the DEI craziness.

Resignation is a joke - she’s still on Harvard Faculty with the same exorbitant salary.

She resigned but she’s still at Harvard and she still has her undeserved PHD. She plagiarized her dissertation. She couldn’t defend it so Harvard let her revise it. Penalty for everyone else expulsion with a notation on their transcripts.

They think the resignation ends it. This is a much bigger issue, that was only peripherally about the testimony or plagiarism. It’s about the fact that this person wasn’t supposed to be there in the first place. Moreover, she represents a much larger group of lightweights that don’t belong where they are, and a movement that is actively, and illegally discriminating against people with more merit based on a false premise. It is not the end. It is not even the beginning of the end. It is, perhaps, the end of the beginning.

Thank you from the bottom of my heart for articulating the insanity that has taken over education. Ive got a lot ofvschool age grand nieces and nephews and cIve been scared of what kind of world we are creating. Say goodbye to DEI! Say goodbye to DEI!

Claudine Gay's resignation is an important thing, not just for fairness, but for the exposure of the machinations and perils of institutionalized DEI--which Gay represents in a huge way. DEI has specific guidelines for protection and support of marginalized groups: BIPOC, the disabled, and gender identity ---but NO protections for Jews, a traditionally persecuted group. By the way, Harvard's history of discrimination against Jews is well documented. A century ago they had a cap of 15% of the student body for Jewish admissions. So there's a tradition there. Watch tho--Gay will cry rac*sm once she's out.

Colleges are supposed to be a scae place to challenge your ideas and those of others. As it is now there is no challenge, either you believe how rhey want to you believe or your ostracized. That said, if your business/college/university is paid for, in full or part, by tax dollars you MUST follow the laws and rules of the United States which includes the foundation of the laws, the constitution.

I'm with ya on FREE speech. I have only one position. Say anything as long as it's NOT calling for offing, assaulting, physically harming American citizens. Say it all because there is NO speech that needs approved. The more speech is hated ,the more protection I give it.

I truly didn’t know how bad it has gotten on US campuses. Hopefully, it can change. Doubtful that it will.

I agree on what the presenter is saying about the narrowness of "acceptable" socio-political discourse at many universities. However, colleges and universities are not only about this kind of discourse. Early in my career as university professor, I taught at Harvard for six years as an Assistant Professor of Germanic Philology. I taught courses on older Germanic languages, the history of German, academic German reading knowledge for graduate students, and 4th semester college German. Admittedly this was pre-Woke, but there was a great deal of post-modern claptrap in certain kinds of courses. But I think that most students in my courses would not have even known (for sure) whether I was a Democrat or a Republican. Studying and debating different approaches to Grimm's Law or helping graduate students to unpack wildly complicated German academic prose did not call for commentary on contemporary politics. During my years as a non-tenure track Assistant Professor of Germanic Philology at Harvard, I also had the opportunity to sit in on Noam Chomsky's Thursday afternoon linguistics courses. Chomsky NEVER talked about politics *in class*. There was sometimes very animated debate about linguistics, but the class was purely linguistics from the moment Chomsky walked into the room. This is now my 30th year at Indiana University. It's not a big secret that I'm much closer to the US political center than many of my colleagues. But this is just plain irrelevant to the courses on linguistics and language acquisition that I teach. And I suppose that their politics is totally irrelevant to the teaching of many of my fellow faculty members here.
