FYI - The marigolds I grow and use are safe for cosmetics and consumption. Please research your variety and make sure yours are safe before you consume them in tea or salves. They’re not all the same and very few can be harmful. Just like with anything else you see on RU-vid, make sure to do your own gathering and research! :)

Even though calendula is sometimes referred to as marigold, it is not really a marigold. If you're using marigolds to make calendula salve, you're not actually making calendula salve. Just in case you weren't aware. 😊

Thanks for sharing your tea garden and salve making. I have been making salve for a few years and found the best way to clean out the glass mixing cup I use is to scrub it with baking soda once cool. The baking soda can be disposed of and the wax doesn't clog up the drain.

wow that is nice salve. I buy Glycerine blocks. I have 2 forms for soap. I melt the glycerine 1 3/4 cups in my microwave or you can use a double boiler. a soon as it is melted for one minute you add vegetable color or fragrance stir it in. Then pour into molds. Let set until firm and put out. this makes 8 soap bars. So far ours have lasted 16-18 weeks. Wrap in parchment paper and we put them in a paper bag to store until we use it. the blocks can be bought at Hobby Lobby on-line or in the store.

Marigolds are amazing in so many ways. I use them as a border around the garden to keep rabbits and deer out, too. My marigolds are seed we keep saving from ones my daddy has been growing since(before?) I was a little girl, so they are special to me for that alone. And, I love your hutch/cupboard in the background! 😊

Hey Jenn and Zach, Fabulous video! So worth the wait. Really appreciate all of the time and planning that went into this video. You two are an amazing couple. I was ready and waiting for this video. I ordered a Stivers Homestead cup and picked marigolds, basil, and chamomile and set it out on tea towels to dry a week before my trip. I am going to make a cup of chamomile tea tonight. It is supposed to be good to help relax you before bedtime. Some say it helps with snoring too but since you can hear my husband in the next county, I doubt it would be very effective. I love him so. Twenty-five years ago today, I said "I do" to that amazing man. I am so blessed! Thanks again for sharing!

Awesome to see you growing and using herbs! I love making herbal products and using them in my cooking too! I couldn't see clearly what plant you were using when you referred to Marigolds and Calendula. Are you using the name interchangeably? Are you using common Marigold, Tagetes, and Calendula, also known as Pot marigold, or just one of these? I'm wanting to clarify because they are not used interchangeably in Western Herbalism. I am also wondering if you had researched ourgassing of the silica gel packs? Just curious. I have not researched it because I had not thought of using it in my jars of dried herbs. I live in the PNW where is is moist year round. Keeping herbs dry in a high priority for me. Thank you for sharing! So much fun to see what others are doing!
