@@imonoke7903 well, the survivors film all the shots themselves so they piece it together the best they can to make it entertaining but not to over produced which gives it a more real feel to it, which I actually appreciate.
Love it!! better than the other so called survival shows imo. I love that they do the filming and are truly Alone. Other shows have a crew that pretty much are there 24/7. Definitely a more authentic show.
My buddies daughter works on the crew for this season's Alone. She has worked at the lodge that is the base camp for the crew for several years, and she attests that it is completely legit. The contestants who tap out arrive at the lodge in rough shape, many requiring medical treatment. She also tells us the medical staff and safety people are the best in the business.
I sure hope it renews. Finally got my Dad interested in watching it this weekend & he’s hooked. He’s 83 & won’t retire because he’s never had hobbies & refuses to sit around watching tv. His eyes lit up watching these men & women on Alone & peeked his interest in my desire to buy land & live off the land in an effort to be closer to my families location without moving back to California. And giving my parents a place for respite from the city. 🤞🏼🥾✨
Alone is the last true reality show. It's literally the only show I still watch on TV. Everything else is fake drama bs. Definitly ready for whatever season 9 has in store!
Yep, only other show still going that might be or should be real is Mountain Men and the show I do not watch Naked and Afraid/XL version thought the second has claims of not being real and Mountain Men 2 of the guys faking it. Everything else currently is fake/redone after it happened or had some major big incident that took down the show. Where are some of the shows that were real like Dirty Jobs or River Monsters/Ocean Monsters? gone with the more hunting/fishing shows being protested and if not, faked/stupid scandals taking down the show.
Yes. Alone is great, and so far the producers have not ruined it. Mountain Men is OK but there is so much over dramatization by the narrator, as well as some really ignorant script. For example, Eustace once went to a secret salt brine hole to collect salt because, according to the narrator, it was free from preservatives, unlike grocery store-purchased salt! I couldn't believe the narrator said something so stupid! Salt IS a preservative! What would you preserve it with, more salt? 😂
I'm alone most of the time anyway in the city. I find I hate most people as they're full of shit. Wanted to try the show but would have to learn some serious hunting and self defense.
@@juliejules7780 You sound like me. I'm an older lady who's from the country but had to move to an apartment in the city a few years ago, where it's nothing but druggies, alcoholics and complete whackos, and I want nothing to do with them, so I don't talk to them and stay by myself. My adult son comes by about once a week, we talk on the phone daily, and I talk to other family and friends by phone, because they all live in different states, but I spend most of my time alone, except for my little dog. I can't stand the people who live in this apartment building, and I do my own thing. I would love to go back to the country, even if I were all by myself, because I've had enough of these idiots around me here in this building and in this city, except for my son, of course.
Big difference between choosing to spend time alone when there are people around you and actually being alone without the option of popping down to the local high street even if it's only to people watch! And I like being alone!
@little drane I understand the logic and appreciate your viewpoint but this is a show produced for public consumption and I enjoyed seeing their builds and creativity. Just watching them lay around the majority of the time would get boring. I liked the mix of both. And when they cast the show I think they look for that mix. Season 5 Sam, our young Mighty Mouse killer, won he came in with his reserves packed on his body in fat and we did not see him much in the shows at all as, I believe, he was laying around conserving calories. Alan, Season 1, definitely employed calorie conservation to win.
This is true entertainment. I've enjoyed every episode to date with the added Norwegian, Denmark, and Sweden. To put yourself against the elements with only 10 items and your knowledge of how to survive is better than Star wars when it was released. The high when someone first catches a fish to eat, to the lows when someones cabin burns down, finally when a contestant thinks their getting a medical check and they see their family and realise that they have won, what joy and relief on their face.
they all take the wrong items. you dont want the paracord, snarewire, fishing kit, gillnet, cookpot, bow, big knife, axe, saw, ferrorod or sleeping bag. You want the XL size reflective tyvek bivy, the reflective 12x12 tarp, the big roll of duct tape, the block of salt, the rations of gorp and pemmican, the saw-edged version of the Cold Steel shovel, the 2 person cotton rope hammock from Amazon, a slingbow and the modified Crunch mulitool,
My brother is a cancer survivor , lifelong outdoorsman , hunter , fisherman, gatherer , a true man's man. I think he'd be perfect for the show. How can or how do I submit him for the show ?? If I didn't have full confidence he can thrive, and survive, I wouldn't ask. Tough times don't last tough people do !!! Go Kev
I watched until the end . This show is my favorite to watch, been watching it from the start and record every episode so I don’t miss it . I’m into bushcraft and I learn some things from the people that are on it . If this show was ever cancel I would go bonkers , lol
Jordon leaving early bummed me out so much! His shelter was incredible and he was doing so great with getting food. Understandable he missed his family though with everything he has been through. ❤️
@@melissamayer2052 nobody's done great about food. The only animal up there in Canada with fat is a bear, late in the fall. They are not allowed to take more than one of any large animal species , even porcupines. They will never make it more than a very few months with no fat. You cant choke down enough lean meat/fish to keep from losin weight. Jonas lost 5 lbs even AFTER he got the moose.
I don't really even watch stuff like this show. I stumbled on this show and binged like 2 seasons straight. Nothing about this show seemed fake whatsoever. I have a whole new respect and realization I stand zero chance of survival outside modern civilization
I have watched all the seasons until the end hope they renew very interesting show. I love that there is no conspiring between contestants, just simply them.
Season 4's contestants (the only season in which pairs were the contestants) said they were allowed to take 2.5 lbs of food; either jerky or a trail mix. They are not 100% foodless, but this isn't shown on air as far as I remember.
Alone in the wilderness!! For real! No wonder viewers get hooked. Looking forward to seeing Alone in Australia this year. People get excited about our snakes, spiders and sharks. Oooh! Watch out! Truly, they are mild compared to bears, big cats and wolverines.
Josh Chavez set his shelter right Ona bear trail! I saw that when he did it. This shows you why the Native American were nomadic. You can’t survive in one place in those environments. I watched till the end
There were so many ppl on season 8, I couldn’t wait to tap out. A few of them were just unpleasant to watch or listen to. I don’t remember any other season having ppl I knew weren’t going to make it. I cannot be alone in this though. Some of them weren’t even thinking of staying long term.
nobody has handled it, they have all just starved. Jordan lost 25 lbs and 5 of that was after he got the moose. The ox-torturer lost 44 lbs, You cant choke down enough lean meat or fish to not lose weight. You have to make a lot of netting out of the cotton rope hammock, use it to catch several hundred lbs of fish and use 100 lbs of fish to bait in a 300 lb black bear, fat for the winter. Bears are 25% bodyfat when ready to hibernate. They are the same as pigs, basically. Bear meat is as fatty as pork, for the same reason. They will eat anything
the shovel can be a spear, paddle, vertical ice-chipper, post hole digger, stand up shovel, adze/hoe/rake/pick. Without its handle, the shovel is a 'big knife", skillet, trowel and prybar.. You can slit logs with a saw. Make some kerfs into the ends of the logs. Baton fire-hardened, green-wood wedges into those kerfs. Once the split is started, drive more wedges into the side of the logs, widening and lengthening the split.
Drill out the mounting holes on the ferrule of the Cold steel shovel, Tig-weld some bits of drill rod across the ends of the longer, larger OD bolts Weld matching nuts on the female side of the ferrule. This mod lets the shovel's handles be changed quickly, without tools. Change the angle of the corner on one side of the shovel's blade and create 8" of real deal saw-teeth on that side. Heat that side of the shovel and hammer it flat, removing the curve of the blade for about 2" below the teeth. Case-harden those teeth.Once you launch, make several different configurations/lengths of handle for the shovel. The existing handle and the two handed axe handle (with stone weight lashed to the blade) should be tapered ovals, so as to increase the accuracy of your swings and to relieve stress on your hands, wrists and forearms.
when you dont waste a week on a shelter-build, a week on boiling water and 2 weeks on firewood, you can easily make the raft, chumline, netting, kiln, charcoal and pottery, and you'll be WAY ahead if you do it my way You can either eat the 3 lbs of fish and 1/2 lb of cambium per day (2100 calories) requiring that you catch 400 lbs of fish or eat 1/4 that much fish and use 50 lbs of whole fish and 50 lbs of fishheads and guts to bait in a bear (fat for hibernation) and arrow it (at 10m) from a tree-blind that's 20 ft off of the ground.
I love this show. will be watching it until it's ever cancelled. I also have a little ulterior motive. In the deep wilds of the pacific northwest, it's only time before someone gets bigfoot on tape! lol. but, seriously, takes a hell of a strong person to compete here. physically and mentally.
Tim tapped on session 8 he was concerned he’d have a heart attack I think it was A year ago I watched it Also let’s go Clay i’ve seen his Archery videos and I knew he would win as soon as he went on the show
those lakes are well-proven to be full of big fish. Net fishing has always been at least 10x more effective than hook and line fishing. When you can't use treblehooks, barbed hooks or organic bait, which is the case in Canada, you'll catch almost nothing on hook and line.
I've watched many seasons of Alone and what I think is very unfair is that some contestants are placed in an area where they are already set to FAIL! I've seen some locations where the water is calm, barely any wind and they have great opportunity's for food in water and on land compared to some where they had to deal with strong winds and waves crashing into their shoreline on a daily where fishing was next to impossible and hunting consitions was just the shi@ts! I really think ALL contestants should be placed in locations where they all have equla chances...
MY BMI Was 12% for years from pedal biking over 600km a week and As a body builder in my teens and 20's. Carly was pulled to soon. As an adult I'm anti social. One of the biggest things I've noticed is Stamina. A lot of the people don't have the stamina. The mind set you need to be ready to die and that everyone you known is dead.
none know to practice at home making the tent. Use cheap clear sheet plastic from Home Depot, wally's , lowe's. Mark the outlines of the tent pieces on the plastic and assemble theme. Change what is needed. then copy those outlines onto your tarp, using permanent ink. You can get a bottle of adhesive release-agent so that you can remove the tape and change things a bit. Saves trouble and money. Then you can assemble the tent in an hour, after taking 1-2 hours to source and process the poles you need for the tent. That's all you need in the way of a shelter for a month. Then you can add the external pole frame in a 1-2 hours, depending on how long it took to source the poles. Same time should suffice to source and add the 6" thick layer of dry debris. Another hour should suffice to put the 10x16 ft tarp that they give you over the debris, make the stakes, get the tarp tied-down securely., with bent-green sticks, in a "u" shape, serving as bungees at the tie off points, so the tarp is not so easily torn in the wind. Lay some boughs on the tarp so it doesn't flap in the wind. On day 60, remove the tarp. Fold it in half, stuff it with 6" of dry debris, Fold it in half again and tie the edges. Presto, sleeping bag. Put the reflective tyvek bivy inside of this bag. Remove enough of the debris-stuffing inside of the tent to let you put the debris-bag on the 8" high raised pole-bed. Replace as much of the stuffing back into the tent as possible. Wet down the exterior of the debris on the tent and add a 2" thick layer of wet debris. Do this at dusk. Let it freeze overnight. Repeat this step 2x more, for a total of 6" of frozen debris, on top of 6" of dry compressed debris. You'll have a foot thick layer of dry, compressed debris around you inside of the tent, too, as well as 8 layers of clothing and 7 layers of debris between the clothing layers. You'll be just fine at 0F degrees and no heat source inside of the tent.
The Heart thing also happened in Season 8? as well in the 2020 for 2021 on Chilko lake. He had some issues that were in the past 7 years ago at the latest, that the doctors not just in gave the clear and he had swapped in some emergency medication for one of his 9 items that the bears broke into and ate or lost all of the meds along with lost a bottle. 97% of the other reality shows are fake or rather are actually more like contest say Amazing Race with that number of fake/being mislabeled going up, some former there was more real like Dirty Jobs or MythBusters or even the earlier seasons of Deadliest Catch, and that Gold Rush show but in later years they have falsely added drama. The show Mountain Men might be the only other show still going that did not have fake drama Yep Season 1 was when History/Discovery reality shows the president of the channel for them, they had the biggest obsession with Bears still has a big one and tried to manufacture that into this show by dropping the contestants right into a place with one of the highest concentrations of bears in the world even if they were black bears that are less aggressive.
The people on this show are supposed to be "wilderness and survival experts." Really? I've sampled 3 seasons and you know what I've seen? People setting their huts on fire, people falling into holes and injuring themselves, people hitting themselves with axes, people slicing themselves up with knives, people losing their equipment, people getting lost in the forest and endless philosophizing and whining by people who "miss their [insert you choice here: kids, wife, husband, fiancee, whatever]" - despite the fact that the series they signed up for is titled - wait for it - "ALONE." What were the contestants expecting? Daffodils? Unicorns? Strings of 7-11s and casinos dotting the landscape? Whether it's scripted or not, I don't know, but the incompetence of so many of the participants make it tedious to watch. What I saw of 3 seasons were enough for me.
The show needs to change up the rules and the contestants should be required to endure the first 30 days without having the opportunity to throw in the towel. Get in trouble, stay in trouble for 30 days then they could call for help. Like to see those claiming to be vegetarian be on the show and see how they would survive without animal or fish protein.
if they take the gear that i tell them to take and do the things that I tell them to do, anyone can last a month longer than they otherwise would have. If you use that saved month wisely, youll win. The average season, under current rules, has averaged lasting 70 days. That's not very long, folks. A month has separated 1st place from 4th place, every season.
They need to up the prize money to 1 million bc of taxes and bc ALONE is the real deal. Teresa on season 8 blew my mind. Her mental stamina was amazing and her skill set was pretty solid minus getting food...lol...oh yeah cops don't try this, u cannot carry a gun and let's face it without a gun u guys
1. Satalight phone 2. solar charger for phone 3. Portable solar power box 4. Starlink WiFi hotspot 5. Flat screen 6. Xbox 7. Deer rifle 8. Dehydrator from academy 9. Ketchup 10. Garbage bag of weed
The weekly med checks are important but I feel it should be up to the participants if they want to be removed or not. What happened with Callie and Roland was B..S.
Pulling them was the right thing to do. In that state, you don't realize how close to death you actually could be. I almost bled to death and didn't realize I was that depleted because I wasn't capable of thinking clearly. I needed 5 units, the human body has 8-11 units depending on size. I'm only 5'2" tall. They gave me 1 unit and my numbers came up enough so they didn't have to give me more. I was no longer at risk of going into cardiac arrest but it took me months to return to normal.
@@thelnepoet1 I'm sorry you went thru that. I have had a similar experience with a placenta abruption where our baby died, but i kept bleeding so had to have quite a few units and then had to come back once a month to get more blood for almost a year and a half. I am also a retired nurse. I still believe it should be the contestants choice if they leave or not unless it's a case of a severed limb. When I say limb I don't mean a finger or toe I mean leg or arm. In Callies case she had frostbite only just starting on 2 toes. That should have been her decision. She didn't have long to go make it to the 100 days to win a million dollars and if I was in her place I'd gladly lose 2 toes for a million dollars, it was clear she felt the same.
@@jenniferdavis6608 I am so sorry for your loss. My sister had a stillborn at 9 months because of an incompetent nurse almost 30 yrs ago and it still upsets her when she thinks about it. I disagree with allowing her to stay with 2 toes that had frostbite. Severe frostbite can lead to tetanus, gangrene or sepsis. She may have been suffering from hypothermia as well. The rewarming process with hypothermia comes with dangers as well. No amount of money is worth your life.
Some of these people are such babies. They know exactly what they signed up for and start complaining the first day. You can always tell who will win because they aren’t whiners
the bear is 25% fat, so even a smallish one (200 lbs) offers 200,000 calories. 400 lbs of fish is just 120,000 calories. You can't choke-down enough lean meat or fish to keep from losing weight. With bear fat, tho, you can REGAIN the 20 lbs or so that you lost before you arrowed the bear.
Season 9 starts on May 26th! Hoping on high IQ contestants! It's way better and more authentic than other shows. Still, a little less drama and little more action would help.
There have been NO episodes filmed in arctic conditions. The NW territory episodes were filmed in SUB-ARCTIC conditions. Sounds better to claim arctic, but sorry, it does qualify for the designation.
they all WOULD have died of starvation, most of them in less than a month, actually. They are limited to a 2.5 sq mile area of land and that's just not enough area to let you find the several black bears that are the only thing that can get you. The best thing to do is make a lot of netting out of the 2 person cotton rope hammock and use 100 lbs of fish to bait a stake and log box, 10m from your tree blind (20 ft up). Youll get many shots at bears that way, mostly at night. The winter is from mid october until 15 april, at least and youll need 3000 calories per day for over 180 days, to keep from starving out. that's IF you have enough body mass to spare 50 lbs of it. That's IF you just hole-up in your shelter and dont waste calories on stupid stuff like bowhunting grouse and rabbits. That means that you'll have to catch 400 lbs of fish and arrow 3 smallish bears or 2 REALLY big bears.
It doesn't make sense to me that they should have any hunting/fishing restrictions like not being allowed to use bait when fishing and not being allowed to hunt certain animals. In real survival situations, all methods and animals must be allowed. They should have to find locations without restrictions.
Too bad the Allahash in northern Maine isn’t a good site. It’s packed with resources but there wouldn’t be enough room for 10 people 10 miles apart… well maybe it would be… but the black flies rule the area and everyone would tap out based on that alone
