Have I replaced the Rolex Pepsi ? Me sharing a little about the watch journey and what I’ve been facing recently decision wise. Could a Daytona be on the cards one day?
The pre ceramic pepsi is such a nice watch. 5 digits are some of the greatest of all time. Really hard to go wrong with any from that period, before Rolex went way over the top. Funny that you’ve sort of arrived at the end of the watch rollercoaster you described in previous videos.
Nice to have you back! Picked up a no date, two liner, 14060 sub recently. The dial is minimum and clean without all those extra lines of text and the date. Love it!
Hey Mike, you gotta speak upon the removal of chamfers on 6 digit Rolex era. I’ve noticed you’ve never discussed this topic. It’d be an interesting take…especially in the comment section. I have an 114060 and just realized this recently.
Love that you’re back Michael! I made a huge mistake last year picking up a 16570 with a no holes case and instantly regretted it. Gotta get a holes case and never look back. Rolex has gone backwards on this issue.
you mean drilled lugs? Why do people call them "holes" 🤣 . On a more serious note, could you expound on what makes the version with the drilled lugs so much more lovely? Different case shape? Thinner? Would love to know your thoughts!
The “stick dial”, transition GMT II with the 3186 movement is a perfect keeper. You get all the 5-digit goodness with the 6-digit movement. I still prefer the holes case on my 2000 16710 since I change from an oyster to jubilee pretty often. I heard you say you don’t like the old jubilee’s but man oh man they are so damn comfortable. My only gripe is with the clasp not having the flip locking mechanism like the new jubilee’s. However, that said, I have worn the jubilee quite often while being active / playing ball with the kids, swimming / diving, etc and I’ve never had the clasp pop-open on me. Enjoy the new Pepsi - absolute perfection! Cheers!
Ah Michael, the journey continues!! Sorry I just saw this video 3 weeks after you uploaded but it's always a pleasure to check in with you and see where your are on the watch journey. I say, go for that Daytona!! You're not in love with that GMT, sell it off and try the steel Daytona out. Just my two cents. All the best to you!!
Nice to see you back! Daytona would be a good add, especially zenith, Patrizzi dial is awesome but expensive. Otherwise have you tried 1680 or 5513? Plexi charme is unbeatable. Also 16800 is transitional cool mix but not plexi. I tried many models and those would be my pick if willing to pull the trigger again. Although I respect your position of taking some distance form the market. A bit better than last year but still madness. Cheers
Hi Michael, definitely the 5 digit Pepsi for me. I'm loving my 14060M as well. So versatile. I did pick up a steel Daytona white dial 2002 model a couple of months ago, so I like the direction your thoughts are going on that. Best of luck with your decision. Regards, John

16710 pepsi is my first Rolex. Lot came lot left this is always there . By the way I also kept 3 watches .. sold a lot but in my case lost couple of money ! Last purchase / trade was the submariner cermit mk2 was my grail the last years but I trade two Rolex to get it ..
I got rid of my seamaster 300m, guess i dont like white dials and the thickness/weight compared to the rolex felt a bit clunky.. got the batman, what an absolute gem. GMT Master 2 really is one of the greatest watches of all time isnt it!!

That is the problem I’m having. I’m on a waiting list for a Pepsi on the jubilee. And who knows if I’ll ever get it. But there is something about the 16710 that I love. Especially the bezel. Does the bracelet on the 5 digit feel more flimsy compared to the new one? I really don’t know what to do.
After watching yourself & Austin Daniels, I had the intention of buying 1 of these. When I got hands-on, I was very disappointed. The quality of the bracelet & the clasp in particular felt poor. I couldn't justify the price.
I was like you for a long long time going through the same cycles one day you will just wake up and realise not to over think watches. took me 20 years just stick to the 2 u like and ignore the rest 😊
There is no doubt that 6 digits Rolex are way better executed than older one. However that is not point. Wearing 5 digits is completely different feeling plus they are not contaminated with Instagram and flippers stories. There is no "weight" of BS we have been listening and experiencing last couple of years, ONLY WATCH AND YOU...timeless.
The Pepsi in any iteration is the greatest hits when it comes to Rolex especially the 6 digit. Think about it, The Pepsi colours, ceramic, jubilee bracelet, cyclops and Mercedes hands. Nothing new beats it. However I'd rather any Pepsi iteration before a steel Daytona. The Daytona is overkill in my opinion unless you go for a white dial and the new iteration which is better than any old Daytona which to me looks like a bit of a cheesy 90's mall watch especially the shiny steel bezel variety. With Daytona I think most buy it because it has the crown on the dial and we are all victims of it. Objectively the Zenith looks better than any current Daytona. But it's biggest Achilles heel is that it's not a Rolex.
