I originally started this Short Barrel Shotgun project in 2017 and just never got around to finishing it. Well, here it is in all its ridiculous splendor. Credit music: @Full Tac
@@booliganshootingsports Keep it that way! I accidentally shot myself in the left hand with a NAA 22lr revolver in 2019. Went through the flesh of my ring finger and then shattered the tip of my pinky. Nearly $30,000 in debt later and I can never shred again. My pinky is half an inch shorter than it used to be and the tip of the bone is rough so pressing down hurts a lot and I had to make a prosthetic fingertip like Tony Iommi of Black Sabbath. I can still play intermediate level guitar but my hand is ruined. Definitely take care of yourself, one minor mistake can seriously ruin your life... Hell, I'm currently in pain typing this because of the nerve damage.
@@aniquinstark4347 wow that's lousy. 30grand! expect you're recovered Tony iommi is the man. get a brass tip for some slide. I know nothing about guns (not American) are those sort of Injuries common? why the finger tips? is it the recoil or something?
@@aniquinstark4347 damn man, I’m a fellow guitarist and I play metal guitar (Chuck Schuldiner of Death is my inspiration if that says anything). Couldn’t imagine what it’d be like to not be able to pursue that passion of mine. My heart goes out to you, props for finding a way to keep on playing regardless I respect the dedication rock on🤘
@@aniquinstark4347 My massage therapy instructor lost the tip of her index finger. Her rehab involved running it over material. Lightly first, and then harder with time until her body adapted. Not saying it's the solution for everyone. Talk to a physiotherapist if you like the idea of being able to use your shorter pinky with less pain. P.S. O, Canada
@@booliganshootingsports I would love it if you did this same thing to a Steven's model 9478 10 Gauge! I think people would donate to the tax stamp fund
The issue is, $150-175 base pump action shotguns just aren't good right now. The old days of finding an old 500 or 870 for that price at a pawn shop or something are pretty much gone. So you're stuck with a VERY cheaply made pump action option which personally, I've just never had luck with.
Goddamn man of culture I see. I have a signed copy of “If Chins Could Kill” by Bruce Campbell. The echo on that first shot is glorious my dude. Sweet room broom!
i thought about that with my steven 94c 20 guage, but i was going to have a stock and a grip for it. but its such a fine performer at the turkey shoots, that i cant bring myself to mangle it. but i still like what you did here, very nice, i need to do something like that with my forend, so you did give me some inspiration.
I did the same thing with my Winchester Model 74 single shot hammer gun. Got it threaded and choked though. It's a beast and my young kids love it. I reload under powered bird shot for them.
I love your work and your channel. This thing is a reason to do the tax stamp, just for the heck of it. And with that it's still cheaper than a Shock wave or even the other PGOs. And unique, till the rest of us follow suite. Don't have too much fun man.
What were they thinking by outlawing these? Did they really think these were more dangerous than the semi automatic handguns that existed when the law was passed?
@@SW0000A It's too bad they didn't go the executive order route with the whole National Firearms Act. Much easier to reverse. Getting a law undone is 100 times harder than passing it in the first place. Booze is a good example and they have been trying to get weed laws off the books forever as well. Executive order rules can get washed away by the next administration in many cases.
@@notmefrfr wouldnt be too much of a surprise with chokes cause the length of the barrel doesnt matter unless its like not even covering the shell or is only long enough to cover the shell or something like that what matters is the size of the hole at the end of the barrel for shotguns
wouldnt be too surprising if he used chokes cause barrel length doesnt really matter too much when talking about shotguns the size of the hole at the end matters more for pellet spread on shotguns usually
I was expecting to put 2-3 rounds through it and call it a day. I put a whole box of birdshot and a few rounds of mini buck shells before the end of the day. It's shockingly fun.
Nice! Good thing to put a tight strap, especially if you let others try it, when your use to standard length barrels a muzzle so close to the forend gets wild. I bet should you need to lay down the firepower on a whole flock, right hand toggle switching rechambering shells you'll get lunatic swift.
he or anyone else would have to make to gun more bulky so it could shoot bigger loads but in the case of making it more bulky he could make it look like a borderlands weapon and that would be dope
plastic isn't going to contain the kinda pressure's a 12 gauge makes i don't see pla standing up to that you'd be lucky to get 2 rounds out of it before it blows up in your face. If you want a gun go to a shop and buy one if you cant pass background you don't need one.
@@austinbarley942 Congratulations on defying EVERYTHING about the 2nd Amendment! *"...SHALL NOT BE INFRINGED."* *NOT* "...shall be infringed a little bit here and there."
If I can find a pistol grip only shotgun that never had a stock and has a barrel over 18” I can get one in Cali and have it made into a AOW. One of these years I’ll do it.
I made the exact same thing, not the sbr version but 19 inch barrel and pistol grip, and I was shooting and the metal peice you screw the wood foregrip came clean off while shooting, any tips on how to repair the metal peice so I can reattach the forend?
@@newman793 not saying I wouldn’t do this to a 12 especially for an umbrella stand gun, but to just go out and shoot for fun I’d prefer a 20. But ultimately yeah I probably am
You're still getting about 70% of the energy from most shotgun shells. Also as you probably discovered vectors don't require distance to establish. A 10-in cylinder bore shoots the same pattern as a 34-in cylinder bore. The only time shopping increases a pattern is when you cut off a choked section leaving a cylinder behind.
@@jeromeb. This is kind of tricky but the basic idea is want something is moving in a straight line it can't be moving more in a straight line. The vectors of the individual pellets are all established as they exit the muzzle whether that muzzle is very close to the start of travel or far. So what really matters is the shape of the barrel at the last little bit of the barrel. How long the barrel is doesn't matter. Part of the reason people believe that a short barrel has a wide pattern has to do with how they were made in the 1800s. They tended to get a tube which was fatter in the middle. Therefore it would narrow down at the muzzle creating a tight choke. If you cut off that tight choke your left with the fat bit that is possibly even the reverse of a choke.
@@GunFunZS Understood thanks, I think I understand. The question interests me because I am in possession of a Baikal IJ18 (single shot, 12 G.) , with a very (too) long and a fixed full choke. I wanted to shorten it, and in the process switch to cylinder choke which would allow me to pass everything through it (shot, slugs...). But I read everything and its opposite: for some it is the ultimate modification for an all-purpose one-shot, for others it will transform it into an unusable watering can. Not to mention that it will have to go through the test again, and that if it does not pass, it will be destroyed by the organization that does the tests...
@@jeromeb. If you are going to that trouble, thread it for chokes. Remchoke is preferred. Or any other choke which goes parallel, constrict, parallell, if that pattern will not fit.
I am thinking of what to do with a hatfield. I have one of the adapters to shoot pistol calibers through it. I have the 7" rifled adapter for 45 colt and a few short ones for 38 and 357
I love compact shotguns,I have an AOW.Mossberg 12 gauge compact cruiser with the 7.5 inch barrel. The $5 tax stamp took 5 1/2 months from purchase until receiving the stamp. It may hold only 3 rounds but really no more than that needed.I'm usually loaded with 00 buckshot.Best close quarters protection. At the range I'm only allowed to shoot slugs. What's funny is so many people think it's illegal until I show them the tax stamp and how to purchase one.I just have to figure out how to make a custom mount for the car.
I agree pending research sucks. Even with very clear photos I had some back and forth with an inspector asking for not photos and information. That was with my CZ Bobwhite 12GA SBS.
Awesome little gun man! Saw your comment on the other video very impressed no need to explain why you did everything if people can’t figure it out clearly they in the wrong area
How did you get the pistol grip to stay attached? I’ve recently sawed off my own shotguns (same model as yours) stock and am debating if I want to shorten the included bolt or go for a different method of affixing the grip.
Well one cool thing is here in Michigan an sbs or sbr with an overall length of less than 26" is considered a pistol. So you can carry something like that for self-defense here. Not practical but definitely more useful than you would think
