The Tyson plant I worked in had like 10 employees per supervisor. And I somehow still ended up stacking 60 tons of chicken quarters alone, with one arm, in a 9hr shift. It was ridiculous.

I think that if you have to deliver a derailed engine in a similar way in the future Kan, what you could do is take the flat bed to the workshop and then re-rail the engine in the workshop. Love your videos man

Honestly, at the place I work (I'm a cnc machinist specializing in milling) the people on first shift are absolutely fine, we make the parts, we debur them completely, we make sure our parts look like a quality part. Second shift just seems to do things quantity over quality, so they'll sometimes just skip deburring, and run parts at the absolute minimum size because they don't measure the parts often enough.

Friend of mine worked second shift at Boeing for a while. First shift had over twice as many people and did less than half as much work. Eventually they found out that it was because first shift wanted weekend overtime and if things didn't get done, overtime was mandatory for everyone. Second shift retaliated a few times by finishing everything, but eventually gave up and accepted that they would have to work weekends to do first shift's jobs.

There _is_ a type of rail car with rails and a smaller "train" running on top! It's the cars that transport railroad ties for new track. It is a flat car with rails along the sides. Once at the construction site, gaps between those rails are bridged so that a small crane car can run along the entire length of the train. Job of that crane is to gram ties from the flats and bring them to the front of this entire train where the ties are fed into a machine that tuns them perpendicular to the track and lays them on the ground.

In nz our rail is naro gauge and our intermodele cars have slots to lock rails into so you can stack them so you can fit more on the ferry because there is only 1 boat that transfers trains from the north island and the south island

In Australia they had Standard gauge flatbeds with rail ontop where they would run a whole narrow gauge train onto the flatbeds.

Could you load flat cars on top of each other and still load them all? That way you could carry say 5 flat cars worth of load only using the footprint of a single flatcar

While I'm not sure what timeline this game is set in and I don't play Railroads Online myself, I wonder what if the Union Pacific "Big Boy" locomotive was brought into this game. Being a bloody massive and powerful steam engine (even though It's now assisted by diesel engines as well), I think Kan and Hyce would have an interesting time playing/ working on it in-game. With all the mountainous terrain and I guess the need for speed and/or power, being able to pull over 100 cars/ trucks or other trains and a top speed of roughly 80 mph, I think it would make a really interesting episode. Also sorry if I got anything wrong, I may be only a few months away from getting my auto tech certification but I haven't been on an actual train in years.

Hey Kan something you could ask Hyce. How often where trains robbed by gangs or attacked by native americans?

the devs of this game should add a breakdown train so if you derail you have to go and get a breakdown train to take it back to the depo and repair it but it would take time 10:33 what the heck am i looking at😶

I know this is coming from a Brit and a random video watcher, but have you thought about having a dedicated recovery train consist? Say 2 Cabooses, 1 Boxcar, 3 Rail cars, and maybe 1 of any other wagon? Then all you need is a dedicated loco for it EDIT: Have the Shay as the dedicated Recovery Consist loco

Call it misogynistic if you want, but I would bet ships, cars, trains, planes, are all female because men were traditionally the operators and caretakers of the vessels. Well cared for vessels, in turn, provided safe passage. When you spend that much effort and time on an object, one develops an affinity for it, and it's not very odd to anthropomorphize it. It's also a feedback loop, because then one is more motivated or inspired to care for it, as opposed to something that is just a lifeless object.
