As an engineer I never rated the Kitchenaid. When the brand was spun off from Hobart, the quality and solidity dropped. But my main concern was the design of the reduction gearbox, much of the speed reduction from the motor is done with a worm gear, these are very inefficient, up to 50% of the power is lost as friction, wearing out the gears. The are lots of videos on RU-vid on how to replace worn Kitchenaid mixer gears. Kenwood on the other hand use ordinary flat spur gears and belts, and though noisy, they last for ever. So this brand, Hauswirt, has only existed since 2009, what do we know about their engineering and long term reliability? Edit: I have found a cutaway drawing, Hauswirt uses a toothed belt and spur gears like Kenwood.

Thats nice. I have had my Kitchen Aid mixer for 10 years and love it. I have many attachments and cannot say anything negative about it. Was a gift from my Mum-In-Law when she passed and it works as designed. Could not ever see paying many dollars/pounds for a replacement as mine is great.

I do wish that manufacturers would consider how we're supposed to get their heavy objects out of their packaging. I recently purchased a new worktop oven. It took me an age and all sorts of gymnastics to get it out of the box, then out of the plastic bag. Why didn't they put a loop of material for people to pull the thing out of its box? 🙄

I have a Kitchen Aid. It was a birthday present when I turned 30. It's the classic Kitchen Aid, but it wasn't "classic" when I got it. lol. Anyhow, I never liked the dough hook attachment. So I never used it. I did buy the meat grinding attachment and used that a few times, but cleaning it was a chore. Also, I found that it wasn't practical because I don't grind large quantities of meat. It's more efficient for me to pulse "grind" 1 kilogram of meat in the food processor. But if you're doing a large quantity of ground meat for sausage, the meat grinding attachment is worth it.

I must say that's one pretty machine, retro colour that was all the rage back in my ancient of days. Heavy metal too. 😊 Definitely worth it if I hadn't already got another brand for a combined birthday mother's day prezzie several years ago - on sale too or I'd have said no thank you. Great review. I’ve never heard of that brand but from your review it looks to be a well built unit. Just looked it up on Amazon US and it is priced much better than the Kitchen-aid. I’ve seen lots of complaints on the Kitchen-aid mixers over the last few years and while I’m not currently in the market for a mixer at the moment, I will definitely be looking at one of these when and if I am. Their oven doesn’t seem to be available here in the US. At least not on Amazon. Will have to check out your video on that - to see what I’m missing, LOL. I’ve pretty much sworn off anything made by Kitchen-aid as I bought a coffeemaker of theirs a few years ago and they had to replace it 3 times in the first 6 months! Their customer service was pretty good but they didn’t want to replace it after the 3rd unit quit so I just moved on to a better brand. Cheers.

I sent you the equivalent here in USA as I couldn’t find one on Amazon like your but there was one similar about half the price but not as good as the one you have and reminds me of a Kenwood. You enjoy your new toy I know I would now make hot water pastry pronto👍🏼❤️

Wow. I nice piece of kit. Definitely made to last. It's made to have its own place in the kitchen and not to be moved about. It makes my nearly 60 year old Kenwood Chef look a bit dated. It's one of the things I brought to Thailand and has stood me in good stead. Things were made to last in those days and your new Hauswirt looks as if it's also made to last. Does a Liquidizer come separately? I feel sorry for your old mixer. It's like a woman cast off after years of love and devotion. You cad😉 I've no doubt it will go to a good home.

That's an impressive piece of kit, I looked it up and there are different price ranges, this one is £185.99. The basic one is not expensive at all considering the quality £79.98, but it doesn't do fancy stuff like grinding meat and sausage making, how often do you do that? Making dough would be a priority for me and it looks very capable. The Hauswirt is a world away, I'm assuming it's German manufacture or design.

That £186 one is used. Amazon UK are out of stock right now. I make sausage 5-6 times a year. The machines are made in China and the company has a base in Germany.

I don't know what you mean by that - to me Kenwood was always the best mixer - this KitchenAid thing only became popular in the UK about 10 years ago.

Their European base is in Germany. You certainly wouldn't be shipping it to China. There is an 18-month warranty.

Not understanding why you think it it " million times better" than the best machine ever made? You made a pizza crust! I have kitchen timers. I would say my Kitchen Aid, bought 15 years ago with a ton of attachments can do EVERYTHING your machine can do, in the same amount of time :) 😎

Well, my 'best machine ever made' has the top and bottom parts connected by a single pin that works its way loose, causing the top to wobble in use. It has a clunky lever for selecting the speed, and another one on the back side for releasing the top - not spring-loaded. It has a feed chute made of the cheapest plastic imaginable. Its paddle tool leaves a good half-inch gap between itself and the bowl. And its power drive barely grips any attachments you use - many's the time my pasta roller has come loose and fallen off. But if you're happy with yours, good luck to you!

There's nothing wrong with the KitchenAid as such, but it is a bit rattly and wobbly. I guess you need to see it and feel it and use it - the Hauswirt is much better engineered, especially the control panel. But my son will be delighted to receive the KitchenAid.

Did you hear the bit where I said it weighed 11 kilos? It's cast metal. The only plastic bits are the covers for the accessory drives. Believe me, there's nothing rubbish about this machine.
