Scrolling through the comments, I'm surprised that Mel is so polarizing. I find her warm and fuzzy persona, sometimes playing dumb and sometimes genuinely at a loss, creates delightful chemistry in counterpoint to Paul's quick wit and Ian's propensity for acerbic philipics. For what it's worth, I also really like it when Richard Ayoade hosts because he provides a counterpoint to Ian and Paul in completely the opposite direction.
@CEngelbrecht

I still remember Mel accidentally letting out a Cameron Diaz level burb on 8 Out of 10 Cats. And here she goes full Freud when talking about Manuel Macron's hairy chest, "We'll come onto that later. Okay, that sounds awful!" And was it also on Cats, where she blurted out about choosing between Jason Statham and Prof. Brian Cox, she said "give me Cox, definitely", before realising what in the heck she was saying?
@itsokay7989

As it relates to work from home and basically being lazy bums...productivity doubled for WFH employees and corporate profits have tripled. Demand and income are up but supplies are scarce. Put them together and you get inflation. People are able to do their work efficiently without mgmt breathing down their necks all day. They're just building resentment w/their staff.
@theinvisibleneonrainbowzeb2567
@theinvisibleneonrainbowzeb2567 2 года назад
It also makes it a heck of a lot more possible for people with chronic illness or who have disabilities if they can work from home, and also for carers, like people who are carer for disabled relative. For the most part as long as the work gets done, and in time, it's good. So people who'd be otherwise restricted or excluded from the workplace are able to seek employment, if they are well enough. I don't understand why so many corporations and businesses etc are keen to exclude the potential of a whole group of people that just have different physical needs.
@JJVernig
@JJVernig 2 года назад
Yeah it's infuriating, especially coming from Rees-Mogg who hasn't worked a day in his life, and had an enormous advantage in his youth... Those employees did their best work during Covid and were flexible, and now they get summoned in to the office. Ill doers are ill deemers: What did he do in his past to distrust those people? Oh yeah, there is photographic evidence... Sorry for this rant, but overhere I see the same thing happening and it doesn't help.. Not to mention the point of the (invisible) neon rainbow zebra..
@emeraldblue5291
@emeraldblue5291 2 года назад
@@theinvisibleneonrainbowzeb2567 that's my situation in a nutshell. The covid years have been my most productive ever. Mornings are particularly hard for me to get around. That makes showering and commuting beyond painful & exhausting. At home I have what I need to be comfortable. There's nothing that I'm missing or that I need from an office. They claim corporate culture. The extroverts may care but I do better without all of the daily drama and personalities. I can just focus on my work
@theinvisibleneonrainbowzeb2567
@theinvisibleneonrainbowzeb2567 2 года назад
@@emeraldblue5291 I can definitely understand that. It doesn't make it all any easier when the world is built for the early bird too, trying to get ready when you have additional needs or responsibilities is generally utterly exhausting. People really don't understand the levels of exhausted it is possible to feel, or that on a bad day you can't get up at all, and because they only see us on the days we're well enough to get out and see people they only see us those days, the good, or bearable days. A number of years ago I had a temp job for 6 months covering for maternity leave of a permanent employee of the place. The job was effectively just data input and word processing, I mean at the core my responsibilities were to be a secretary/business support type thing. It was supposed to be full time but I found that when they redid the office everyone worked from home for about a month. I got so much more done in that month, and bonus of no commuting so less polluting too! Also I was largely able to do my own hours so I could work on a Sunday or a Thursday night or whatever, as long as I submitted the work correctly completed by the deadline it was all good. They really didn't need me to be in the office other than that management required us to be in the office. So a full day of work, 8 to 4, but then an hour to 90 minutes commute on public transport each end of the day, means that the working day is actually closer to 11 hours. It's infuriating, I really hoped that work from home during lockdowns etc would help open up employment to more people and be more accessible . On top of it all surely it's cheaper for the companies to rent smaller workspaces and offices rather than pay the rent, rates, power etc to have everyone in the office at the same time, daily. So frustrating I hope things get easier for you

Hiensight is like a capacity for generalization from a distant or future perspective.... Retrospectively you made yourself appear moronic trying to insult Sonia, GO POLITICAL JOURNOS ✊😇

That was ,,, kinda garbage. I don't know who Mel is, but if she'd been introduced as Karen it would have made so much more sense. Silence your joking Osman, I want Sonia to speak. To be fair, the material was so piss poor this week that Mel and Paul pretty much propped up the show. The writers this season have been dreadful, Paul was phoning it in for the first few shows, and the guests have been mostly awful. Luckily all the hosts have been good, but the show is shuffling along towards the grave. It's a testament to how absolutely dreadful the BBC has become that HIGNFY is still one of it's best shows.
