Hopefully the discussions around back 3 is best combination. Telea is outstanding at 14, so a power 11 ( Fainganu'uku) with Will Jordan at 15 appeals. Pick the best team not just best individuals. Some very good players will miss out. Right now Clarke is not doing enough to keep himself in the 11 jersey.

I agree with you on Clarke. He hasn't kicked on after his breakout season a couple of years back. Defensively he's often all at sea. I'm a big fan of Fainganu'uku, but with him heading off to France next season and also not really stepping up to international level last year, I'd be tempted to leave him out of the ABs squad and look to the future.

@@tabou1 I agree, unfortunately the natural talent of those guys is stifled, poor coaching or diet possibly,most have grown up in NZ or Australia,so they should have some idea. Quite often it's conditioning. Look at Fiji, if someone could unlock their natural abilities,they would be unstoppable.

Besides, they can choose whomever they want, the All Blacks are going to be embarassed at the RWC due to having an incompetent coach who has no idea whatsoever about what used to be the All Blacks very high standards of excellence. In order to win the coach must be a 'winner'. the current coach is anything but.

I dunno, I'm a huge WJ fan but we haven't seen enough of him to command that first selection at 15 (yet at least), I would go Stevenson with WJ on the bench, take some pressure off WJ so he can ease into it.

We got the makings of a really good backline , with stevenson, clark, lienert -brown, goodhue etc.more than we need just gotta get a bit more ruthless and powerful in the forwards and in the top two inches and we can go deep at RWC 23

I just don’t get why the ABs persist with playing Jordan on the wing..and relegate him to a narrow channel down the touch line…where he COULD and SHOULD be playing fullback….chiming in and out of back play, busting defences up through the middle of the park..and getting more opportunities to counter attack

@@jaredwilson28 As long as he's fit, I'll be shocked if BB doesn't get selected, he's basically in contention with DMac for 10/15 cover on the bench if Jordan does get the nod @15. That leaves a space on the bench in a 5-3 split for midfield cover, who gets that spot?!

@@groovedohg yeah. On one game a try attempt went to the TMO. They were trying to establish whether the player was in touch before he scored. His legs seemed to be off the ground but it was hard to tell because the tackler, who was touching the ground, obscured the vision. Taylah " So the tackler is definitely in touch. Does that mean, because they're connected, that the try scorer is in touch too ?

Some players naturally are better on receiving the ball on their dominant sides and stepping back off a certain foot. Having said that, at the top level they should be equally good on both sides. The other thing is experience on thier preferred side, ie defending plays, knowing how to turn on kicks, stand in the backfield, having a preferred kicking foot, etc...

Emotionality of the All Blacks is the biggest weakness. They’ll need to be themselves with flair etc, but they’ll need to be ruthless and assertive. Like England in the semi in Japan. We can’t be standing around the ball and not committing up front.

B Barrett, Mo'unga, ALB, Ioane, J Barrett, Havili, Jordan, Clarke & Telea will definitely be going to the world cup. Then its a toss up between McKenzie, Fainga'anuku, Tuivasa-Sheck, Stevenson & Ennor. McKenzie would be my first choice. He can play 9,10,11,14 & 15. Sevu Reece is a big loss.

Jeff your off point on two accounts. 1) Caleb Clark has probably the best recent form for the AB’s. Fai’angnuku has one of the worst!! 2) Mate you bloody backs, think you know what’s going on, when really we forwards have to win the front line battles with enough regularity before you even get a sniff at touching the ball!! So let’s be honest! At present our forward dominance across the board is, at best, 4th best in the world. Our link play between the ruck and attacking line is predictable and ineffective. Hence we lose! Sam Cane Beauden Barrett ALB Dane Coles Shannon Frazell None of them would make my squad right now.

Our forward pack have been good since they changed the front row hence the 7 match unbeaten run and with 150 kg prop Tamaiti Williams likely to get selected NZ will have the biggest forward pack at the world cup

Agree. Kiwis always were good in the backs and what caused them years of WC failure was their pack being just up to scratch but found out in the big games (apart from the food poisoning WC). They got that sorted in past couple of WCs and now back to weaker pack with very good backs again. Now the game has moved on with excessive grind in professionalism, teams like France, Ireland and South Africa have more potency. Wilson is right, they have their own style and that's their best chance of winning but it probably won't be enough for a whole WC.

Agreed. South Africa and France especially will monster most other packs, including ours. Ireland have a powerful and balanced pack, which blitzes through ruck ball super fast to avoid real arm-wrestles and it works for them. It’s the forward battles that win knockout rugby and I can’t see anyone other than FRA, IRE or SA lifting the trophy later this year. I think ENG may get further along than expected as they have a favourable draw, they’ll meet AUS and Eddie again. That’ll be a humdinger. But NZ just need to show growth and perform. What will be will be.

They can choose whomever they want, the All Blacks are going to be embarassed at the RWC due to having an incompetent coach who has no idea whatsoever about what used to be the All Blacks very high staandards of excellence. In order to win the coach must be a 'winner'. the current coach is anything but.
