I'm pretty sure it's deep, everything we make is always inspired from everything else, so nothing new really, we just discover the combination from time to time.
But most of the fans just want to compare one anime to the other 😩 it's rare to see an anime fan who enjoys both without even comparing when it starts it's like a war
People don't understand that there's a difference between artists being inspired by others to create their work and breathe their own life and personality into it. And artists who just copy/paste a checklist of things that all manga have, like a lot of generic action shonen or isekai have. Keeping it all Naruto, the entire concept about Jiraiya, Orochimaru, and Tsunade is just taken from Japanese folklore. But he brings his own spin to it to create vibrant and entertaining characters.
Yeah Jiraya the galant i believe, he was a monk who helped a 3 legged frog and saved a princess called Tsunade now Orochimaru thats another legend Susanoo's return to godhood after burning Amateratsu's rice fields, he fough Yamata no Orochi and got Kusanagi from the tail and gifted it to Amateratsu thus regaining his godlyness
Well... They are both not original... They take their origins back to Shinto practices and the idea of chi. Maybe the way it was used is similar but that doesn't mean it was a ripoff
Chakra natures and jutsu are probably the closest we've come to a power system that can rival the HxH nen, but it falls just a little bit short. Nen system is just so damn well thought out.
Nen and cursed energy are nearly interchangable in their applications id say nen makes more sense though. Cursed energy stems from negative emotions and thoughts which implies that the most powerful sorcerers are immensely miserable people. This doesnt make any sense, and i think gege just kinda handwaves that away. Nen is just concentrated aura passively generated by living things. @@Paradox484
I mean Ki, chackra, Reiatsu, curse energy blablabla it's basically just random naming for special energy and whatnot. The real root however is actually Chi from Wuxia novel. The idea that one can train to cultivate and harness energy within to do the impossible is basically originated from China.
@@JeSt4m I'd say non-physical energy systems are more widely discussed to be simply be stated as having a singular origin. If anything I'd say that Wuxia is just a version of fantasy themed under chinese cultural influence. Now specifically over the top martial arts to a super human level is definitely specific to wuxia and chi/ki/qi might be more influenced by chinese elements... but non-physical energy is present in too many cultures to really be JUST one source
Also Naruto took some ideas from Akira Toriyama too. If you watched the OG dragon ball, you can notice that Kinkaku and Ginkaku appear there as characters, as well as the name "inoshikacho", but in Dragon ball it's the name of the animal
Ino, Shika, and Cho trio is a winning formation in japanese card game. So, both Toriyama and Kishimoto are inspired by that. Same way as Eiichirou Oda create King, Queen, and Jack trio in One Piece
@@levinkeluargapolca that is just very common in a lot of older shonen, I think it has more to do with being easier to remember, than knowing their specific names which can be very hard after awhile when watching tons of anime.
People on the Dragon Ball community sometimes seem to treat Akira Toriyama (RIP) was THE inspirer, meaning, the one who inspired others but NOT accept he might have also get inspired by others, like he was link 1 on the anime chain. Specially when Akira confirmed he was inspired by stuff like Astro Boy, Ultraman, and even Disney animated movies like 100 Dalmatians of all things.
Not just that, I'm pretty sure that Dragon Ball also had some inspiration from Journey to The West. One of the most influential pieces of literature of China
The OG Dragon Ball inspiration is Journey to the West and DBZ inspiration came from Superman (Saiyan saga), Star Wars (Frieza Saga), Terminator ( Android Saga ), Disney movie ( Buu Saga) @@balazscsotai8354

This is a good lesson: it's not that there's nothing new under the sun, it's that no work is an island. Everything has an origin point, and that origin point has its origin point. "Originality" isn't about having no inspirations or influences, because that's next to impossible. Even if it's something from your real life influencing your work, like a traumatic event or someone you love, you're still drawing inspiration from SOMETHING. It's about putting your own spin on what you're drawing inspiration from, giving it a unique identity, and making something that only you, in your time and place, can make. Only Kishimoto could've made Naruto, only Oda could've made One Piece, and only you can make whatever you end up making, if you don't just copy and paste that is.
This is a ubiquitous phenomenon. The father of Mary Shelley, who wrote Frankenstein, gave us the structure for fiction writing that has been echoed throughout time. It doesn't make it bad if it's an echoing of a thing before

In fact, there is nothing original in people's ideas, at least the majority. A bad artist imitates what he stole, and a good artist turns what he stole into something better
Togashi is one of the goats and i'm sick of haters talking shit about his back. If you're a JJK fan you should know buddy took a LOT of inspiration from HXH
HxH turned into shit with the elctions arc and YYH is a piece of outdated mediocrity. It's not haters talking shit bout it but fanboys who think that hack is the Best mangaka
I mean any good writer or artist will take inspiration from the prior works of his genre out outside of them. Standing on shoulders of giant and what not. Don’t see why people get hung up on “this person copied this” cuz it’s usually not even a direct copy it’s just an iteration on that previous idea.
Everybody takes inspiration from something. It's impossible to be a conscious human with completely original thoughts, you can try to mitigate it later in life, but you can't mitigate it during your developmental years.

Naruto actually takes a huge inspiration from Japanese Mythology, especially when it comes to names for abilities: Susanoo is the god of the winds and seas, Amatarasu is the god of the black sun, Izanagi is the supreme diety, etc I heavily encourage people to dive into Japanese Mythology and see how much of it was used to create characters and abilities from Naruto!
I actually feel a sense of familiarity if that's the case which makes me more interested since it's also sometimes easy to understand things like powers , plot etc
I’m a software developer and let me tell you this: if you’re not copying in some form you’re doing it wrong. Now, copying is a rather specific word but it’s true: you can’t unsee the code that you see and it stays with you. That however doesn’t mean you’re using it for the same purpose or in the same way, yet the root of your own code can be traced back to someone else’s 99.9999% of the time, in good and bad.
Yeah it is weird people do that. For example. "That time i was reincarnated as a slime," "Is it wrong to pick up girls in a dungeon?" "Konosuba" "The rising of the shield hero" "Solo leveling" "Overlord" And that one show about that uncle and his advetures in another world.. They are all the same But ill watch all and appreciate all of them

@@Fanimati0n call it whatever you want to call it. spirit energy, chakra, ki, nen, life energy, ... they have the same kind of application and aren't based on any anime. the concept of this kind of energy is far older than the very first manga.
I think there is a difference when people speak about inspirations vs. when they talk about character archetypes and their tropes and arrangements of said things being lifted wholesale from other manga.
People don't realize that almost all works are inspired from real life or from another work and that isn't just for manga or comics it can be applied to anything for example try to imagine a color you never saw

Naruto and Sasuke also have a ton of visual inspiration from GOku and Vegeta, and their rivalry was also kind of forced on him by an editor trying to emulate the success of Vegeta as a rival IIRC.

This can really be said for not only different forms of art, but ART in general. Us as artist are beings who are inspired to make things from things that inspire. us in any form. So originality shouldn't be based on something new, but something unique. We just add out own little twist to things that inspire us, and that is completely normal in art. Honestly this is very painful, as young as i am, I actually come up with my own original ideas just to watch an anime or movie to see that same idea being used in the exact same way
My dude I literally made a story I was gonna upload online but told my friend the rundown of the initial plans. My friend laughed after hearing me out and said the web novel he was reading the EXACT same plot points. Everything I mentioned before and after, that same web novel had done exactly that, the exact same way. I read it myself and it felt like I was reading a carbon copy of my story that never left the draft.
The only time in life where you're able to have true untainted original thoughts is when you're extremely young. This is also why however most of said thoughts are terrible. Without reference and inspiration creating something truly great is impossible at least by modern standards. The artists of today were inspirited and draw inspiration from the artists from the previous generation, those were inspired by the previous, and so on all the way back to the original cave paintings. It's part of being human, the important thing is to be yourself with what you create though. Don't just copy those around you verbatim. Make something your own while not being ashamed of the inspirations around you.
Humans have told stories for thousands of years. Every single concept of story has already been told at least once. What makes your story unique is not that it's concept is "original" as nothing really is (and if it is, maybe there's a good reason why nobody used the idea as it may be terrible). What matter is what you bring to the original concept, how you use your experiences, encounters, beliefs, knowledge and opinions to shape a generic concept into something new. So, if you find the exact same story you wrote somewhere else, here is how you shoumd proceed. First, do not get discouraged by it and instead think of it as a challenge to make your story better. Then, go deeper than thinking that the plot points are the same. I'm sure your story has a little something that is unique. Maybe your character has a unique quirk. Maybe there is a relationship that is different. Once you find that one special thing, expand on it and how it affects your story. Then, write and rewrite until you're satisfied with your result. And a last advice, even if you can't find a way to make your story truly different from the other one you found, if you really want to put it out, then do it. The only thing that matters is that you are proud of yourself and your story, and for your next story you'll find something more unique, more true to you

Naruto was inspired by Goku. The orange clothing, the fact that Naruto is kind of stupid at everything except fighting. I remember actually reading/listening to an interview where he said as much, but that was years ago. Anyway, Dragon Ball is actually a large inspiration for a lot of mangaka and look at how many amazing works have been produced since. Besides, most ideas aren't even original. It is remade, recycled and that isn't a bad thing at all. It doesn't have to be entirely original for it to be amazing. Look at Pokémon. A ton of it is inspired by old folklore, memes, and even Western concepts. And yet, it's still one of the most popular brands in the world to this day. There is nothing wrong with taking inspiration from the things you love. It just shows how much you care.

One thing I was told in a creative writing class in college is, "writers are the biggest thieves in the world." This is fact. Best example is high fantasy. Nearly all of it today was inspired by Tolkein's works, who used several references of other myths to create his amazing world.
It's not just manga. It's Japanese culture. Ninjutsu has ALWAYS been around. Ki, Nen, Chakra, Cursed Energy, Spirit Energy. It's each author's unique spin that makes an manga/anime.
There’s a difference between copying (or plagiarism) and homage (recognition someone else before you had a great idea). A person is neither a real critic or fan if they can’t tell them apart.
Yea a lot of inspirations for yu yu hakusho but he does mention it and he has great relationships with everyone he’s used as a source. I love that they’re all kind of friends or at least respect each other.
The formula for these animes in aspects are similar because it's working. A skill base. A few main character similarities. Hand full of super epic moments like Rock Lee weight drop like Goku.
what is funny is that Yu yu hakusho also "drop" his wristband to release his full strength which means that the trope was already done twice (probably more in other hidden anime at the time) before Rock lee did it. However Rock lee weight drop is better executed which is why it got so much praise back in the days. Also not many people whom were new to anime back then knew the sources like we do today because of the internet.
