Adell is one of the most hilarious protags I've ever seen. Adell: "Ok, I have to go and defeat the evil Demonic Overlord and free my family from his curse." Rosalin: "Just how do you plan on defeating the most powerful demon in the world?" Adell: "By punching him in the face, duh."
nail: have you tried punching him really hard? piccolo: that sounds like something goku would say *punches really hard* piccolo: well what do you know, it works.
More like, most AWESOME. Everyone just spells out Adell. He's too generic, he's just some hero. Yeah, he's a hero IN A WORLD WHERE HUMANS DON'T EXIST AND EVERYONE IS KINDA JUST ACCEPTING THEIR DOOM. In the scope of everything, Adell looks like some typical hero. In the scope of this world, he's like triple omega hero. And he takes it like a boss. He'll pass some of his years onto you just because he's a cool nice guy like that. Adell is maximum chad, he's absolutely idol-able and he's the best protag Disgaea has ever seen. OK second best. Will that do, Laharl?
It does reminds me how Disgaea 1 and Disgaea 2 play off the same concept yet are taken in completely different ways. After giving you a game about a crazy demon lord hell bent on power and glory, they follow it up with... a hero story about a human and a demon defending others and trying to save the world. And they manage to make it feel just as charming as the first one while using a more conventional hero plot which IMO is harder to pull off.
+Zettabeam62 The way they handled the symbolism of the hands and fights were great. Though I would personally put Disgaea 3's creativity above this. The Jiangshi motif was just amazing and the animators were definitely on crack.
That was cute too, yes, but I still think the scene I was talking about conveyed a deeper feeling of loyalty and trust between a demon princess and her unexpected "human knight", which is just the sweetest thing ever to me. Plus the way Rozy is hovering over him with her hand in his makes it look like Adell is about to sweep her off her little princess throne and bring her with him to a new world, which is pretty much exactly what he does in the game. It's a simplistic but strong scene.
There are so many unanswered questions I have about the plot. Mainly the back story between Shura and Selion. I'm not going to spoil it for anyone here, but the fact alone that NIS didn't come out with a direct sequel to this game yet is so depressing, it should be counted as a gamingsin.

(BTW, Selion's fucking hot dood.), but did it explain what exactly they were before they came to Veldime, like if they were King and Queen or just powerful servants, or did it explain whether or not their home Netherworld is still there and didn't explode due to the war they mentioned and if it is, is the war still going on right now?
chaotixninja5 If NIS wants to make a sequel to Disgaea 2 or do a DLC episode where Adell finds out about his origins, we may get a backstory on Shura and Selion.
TechieWidget That's what I'm hoping they would do. NIS already mentioned that they were going to continue making D2 versions of the other Disgaea games since it's so popular, so I wanna them make a game about Adell finding all about his origins...and maybe become Overlord.^^
happy 15th anniversary disgaea 2!!! :3(favorite intro along with 3 and d2.) love etna(her casually sitting on a prinny while throwing knives at them & her standing sexy/badass when explosions go on behind her before flying off with a mischievous smile.:3) & rozalins(that shot of her in the netherworld and shooting the daylights out of everyone while dancing with adell.) moments in the intro the most.(also love laharl & flonne in the beginning along with etna being the first person we see come out of the pot.)
Demons, sentient items gaving its own soul worlds inhabited by enemies owning sentient items inhabited with own soul worlds ad infinitum, ability for human muscles to get around 1000x stronger, penitent souls if rapists and murderers trapped in enslaved penguin plushies and this is where you draw the line?
No matter how much I like Disgaea... whenever Etna or certain other characters show up, I start wondering when the "to catch a predator" people will kick in my door
Though one thing that both Disgaea 2 and Disgaea 4 has in common is that their opening actually tells about the story. Disgaea 2 was a bit less clear and more to interpret,and Disgaea 4 was more clear. It was actually so clear that it would take a real clueless person not to be able to see the main point of Disgaea 4.
Lahard is an Overlord though, they have big responsibilities, or so they claim. Etna is not as high in the heirarchy so she's given more leeway in gallivanting her way around the Demon Realms without any demons hunting her down for fame or worrying about taking care of a whole realm. Besides, if Laharl was a main character in any of the following games they'd have to come up wih some excuse to nerf him,like they did with Etna,and that would destroy his awesomeness.
i just really like disgaea 2 since it's the only one in the disgaea series where the main characters are flat out paired up by the end without any romantic tensions unresolved. In the other 3 titles it's only at best implied and never really explored.
little respect get's sent to disgaea 2 but the opening was called the greatest opening for the disgaea series until d2 came around and most of the classes from disgaea 2 stayed just with very few exceptions
I wonder if there was anyone dense enough to watch this opening and be surprised that Rozalin and Adell hook up by the end of the game (in the good ending at least).

disgaea dimension 2 that's been released in japan and is coming this october is going to be a direct sequel of the original disgaea with laharl as the main charecter
Probably a lot more underrated than the other Disgaea games. But I guess it’s because of how the internet was underdeveloped the time this game came to be. Disgaea 2 is something that would take a lot to make and probably understand.
At least, he isn't the main character again until now with "Disgaea D2: A Brighter Darkness" which is the direct sequel to "Disgaea: Hour of Darkness" in which it takes place a decade (10 years) after the first game.
now that will take long time too because the company that made it went bankruped and only realesed a small number in japan, theirs only 2 volumes left but you can find them on google but not in english
Nobody ever said this was the best one in the series, it is always considered the black sheep because of the felony system and the lackluster story that gets hurt from the Disgaea 1 cameos(although still better than Disgaea 3's story).
Well, I watched D2's story in English up to chapter 9(the 2nd to last chapter)and it only said "a few years" later(in relation to Disgaea 1) . I am pretty sure Disgaea 2 takes place 10 years after Disgaea 1, and D2 takes place before Disgaea 2.
Well whatever Rozalin can like obtain 9999 levels and do a quadrillion of damage her middle finger as her trigger finger is obviously kicking some major ass.

@animeftw999 The PS2 version had the option of changing the audio to Japanese, if I remember right. I think there may have been an option for text too... I'm sure it's the same for the PSP version.
A funny thing that happened to me was when Rozalin was shooting at the screen, my brother was behind me, I heard a crack, and I saw something fly by me eye and it looked like my brother cracked my TV
@nexustehulf Even if you don't like Axel, you have to admit they added a ton of other stuff. Magichange, for starters, the bonus Disgaea 3 based maps and charcters (Mao, Beryl and Champloo if you haven't unlocked them) and about a half dozen or so other new charcters, 3 new classes (Entai, Celesital Host and Death Saber). Axel mode wasn't the only additon (granted you have to go through axel mode once to get the classes and magichange...)
I guess im just very unlucky because a ton of people ive talked to have claimed this was the golden egg of the franchise. Also I disagree on the D3 front its actually my second favorite behind the brilliant 4th entry but to each his own lol

What about death the kid from soul eater? He uses hs pinkies to dual weild. To see if it was plausable at all I tried it with nerf pistols. Hurt like hell.
I miss spiky hair and wacky character designs. I miss, screaming out your attacks and damn near shredding your voice box when you power up, I miss all of the old TV tropes that used to be an anime. The problem is not that the old throws are over used A lot of the trucks that we say are over you have been around for centuries and millennia. If you think about it the problem came when the riders started getting lazy and started giving us distillations of the TV tropes that we like instead of giving us good writing.
