In this video, I tell you a crazy story about my flight simulator and the display connection that could have ended badly.
I then talk about a few things to avoid and take to the skies, going through the most common questions I get about picking the right flight sim display for your flight simulator. Finishing off with some of the bad points of owning a flight simulator display setup like this.

As long as you are variable in your viewing and don’t leave bright stuff in the same place for months and months OLED is fine, I’m running one for wide use case connected to my PC including flight simming. Pixelshift isn’t something I’d ever use, that can mean things at the edge of the screen can get cut off, I’m just careful with it, no wallpaper and auto hide the taskbar, I hope in the future to have three 48 or 55 inch LG OLED’s for sim use, just don’t have the room right now. As for your burning HDMI cable, could be a few possibilities, your display port to HDMI converter might be sending too much power across the cable, or the TV might have an issue with hot HDMI connectors, maybe Google that with your TV model see if it brings anything up.

Thanks for sharing about your OLED experience. Yea I've googled about the HDMI cable issue and it's more common than you'd think.

Hi good to see an update on how the displays are going! I have many of the same issues - the heat is definitely an issue and aircon has been essential. I also have had the same issues with the remotes - always seems to be the right one for me that never starts and I have to do manual. The biggest issue I'd like to resolve is that I still seem to not have the actual TV settings aligned - I noticed with night flying that the two "wing" screens seem almost cloudy, nowhere near as crisp as the centre screen. Do you have anything similar?
@g-locmedia
@g-locmedia 2 месяца назад
I have had in the past but realised that my TVs were on slightly different settings. I'd say dive deep in to the picture settings on your TV and make sure everything is identical.

To solve your problem turning on your monitors, check out remote controlled wall plugs. I have a 4 outlet remote controlled plug with my monitors on a power bar plugged into one socket, and my usb hubs plugged into the other two. I can turn everything on with the remote for the plug and it works a treat! Love your videos, thanks for sharing your gifts and talents! 🙏

Or a common switch to the power strip. You can even be fancy using a panel fuse with lever or even more fancy using a main power (AC 100-240v) relay with a 5 or 12v control coil with a switch on your desk labelled “acc” or “inst” looking cool and all. Did that on a previous 5 screen mac desktop who denied me energy star compliance (showing my age there…)

I use those wall remotes for my out door lighting on the deck from INSIDE the home. I also bought a set for my keyboard studio. Turning on just the Hammond organ and Leslie, or the different groups of synthesizers/amps is very nice and convenient. I will get another set for the flight sim build. 🙂

Great video thanks for sharing the content, you are the reason for my triple 55" screen set up and I thank you. I did the crystal for 3-4 months I pre-ordered it, just couldn't stomach VR great video you l you did by the way. Couple of question: seat position either you sit really low in you cockpit or I sit really high, I only fly DCS and i'm centered both vert and hort. you are about 1/3rd low in yours is there a reason? Head and eye tracking I see you don't use it for MSFS you've done videos about it in the pass, and i am currently using tobii, its always on but the only time it is really valuable is dog fighting and pattern work. Do you think it's over kill? I love your desk setup and i'm still struggling with mine, yours looks so clean did you build it or buy it? I'll send you a pic one day for some advice. Are you on discord?
@g-locmedia
@g-locmedia 2 месяца назад
Thanks mate. My head is actually just below the centre of the screen. It's like this so I can have the screen up over the yoke that ena kes me to get the screen closer. I do use tobii, I have it mounted on the g1000. I use it for looking round the cockpit and also sometimes for landing. I don't think it's overkill although it gets much more use in combat Sim.

I have been running triple 50 inch for a couple of years, very happy with them. VRs great, but my eyes suffer/get tired after a while. How are you running the extra two displays ..USB converter? FI, I have my screens butted with strong/wide tape at the back to help them stay aligned.
@g-locmedia

Have you flown the gold mine Grasberg in Papua Indonesia? 15,000 Ft Take off from Enaratoli and head East, be prepared to climb. I know you bought your screens but there are more Large DP capable TVs out like Ark 2 and yes the are spendy but no more HDMI converters, with a bonus VRR across 3 screens. LG 45" UltraGear.

I'll check that area out. Sounds interesting. Yes ideally if you can afford it something like the Ark 2 solves a lot of issues

I've bought a 55" HiSense recently, same as yours but Japanese market version and using a quality HDMi cable. Overall I'm happy but there have been some issues: random screen drop-outs (screen goes black for 1-2 secs) but this seems to have disappeared since I updated to the latest Nvidia driver recently. It's running at 12 bit depth, 120 frames. The only minor annoyance is that it doesn't behave like a computer monitor, i.e. I always have to switch it on and off in addition to the PC. I wish this was a 21:9 ultrawide at this size, since I miss the ultrawide format from my previous monitor lol.

I think Acer make an ultra wide up around this size. I'm pretty happy with the Hisense. Wish I could go OLED though after trying it a few weeks ago but they're so expensive.

@@g-locmedia IKR, we have a 55" OLED TV. It was very expensive but is capped at 60 Hz. Ihaven't actually tried it yet on the PC. The colors are great but I think it's not very suitable for games actually.

Very nice setup.. I also have MSFS.. I use triple 65 LG G3s with 4090. Graphics is set to triple 4k Ultra @ 120hz.. I see between 45 - 100 FPS.. Regarding the screens and remote. I would use the phone app to mitigate this issue... All in all triples are the best IMO...
