Chimney mount is quite usual here in England, roof mounting is almost unheard of, the risk of a water leak into the building from rain when roof mounting is used increases. Great work!

This gave me the insight into making an antenna install. Look forward to more great videos from you Sir.

Very good video. This helped me to install my antenna. Very easy.

I would have never mounted the antenna to the brick of the chimney when you can easily mount it to the roof. In this video the installer didn't ground the antenna mounting bracket nor did he use a grounding block for the cable.

Ronald Towe, So Ron you think mounting an antenna this way is stupid?..........Ha ha ha, You're right! This video should be titled "How to f%ck up your chimney" Or "what not to do". This is what the customer preferred......Two morons! When I met my wife she had an "installer" staple the coaxe to the roof! I'm wondering if it was this guy who did the work.

How did you open the rogers cable box?
@chrisgraham2904

There is a special screw driver type of tool that can be found on Ebay. After you discontinue your cable tv subscription, you may still need the cable company's connections to provide internet services to your home from that same provider or a third party provider. In this case, you may not be able to use the cable company's connection box and they could disconnect your internet for breaching their box.

crazy drilling in a chimney stack .. big no no .. worst thing is you drilled the end bricks and at the top wow.... them end bricks will crack and fall out within time .
@scottishmale1970
@scottishmale1970 7 лет назад
yes not really the done thing thats what lashing kits are for but he did say it would last probably longer than the chimney yes as the antenna will bring the chimney down
@chrisgraham2904
@chrisgraham2904 2 года назад
Drilling the brick rather than the mortar line is the right thing to do. I can't see that a 3/8" holes, supported in two separate bricks would cause any degradation of the bricks. The total weight of this antenna and the mount is about 8 pounds. Most homes fitted with high efficiency furnaces are no longer using the chimney for it's intended purpose anyways. I've had a 20 lb. flag pole mounted off my brick chimney for 20 years and it performs the same as the day it was installed.

If you're watching this video make sure to ground your equipment. Asking for it if you don't!

Only 35 channels. That's either a really small market, they're far from sources, or a poor antenna

This video should be titled "How to let a moron on your roof" Or "how to choose the worst possible way to mount an antenna" Besides the laundry list of things not to do here, Skyview Electronics Feels Ground wires are for the birds, "Your TV will absorb the lightning strike just fine" and "We don't use chimney straps that wont damage your brick and can be easily serviced, We get out the hammer drill!

Drilling into the brick is often done, though I wouldn't have drilled into the chimney like that. But I agree, it was a pretty shitty install. Especially how he ran the cable on the roof. Zig Zagging the vents - come on.

Mike L, I would be far less critical if these people didn't specifically do this for a living.

Typical aerial installer peg the cable work in drill unnecessary holes in the chimney I could go on and on with this very poor installation

as we say bob the builder could do a better job this guy should have his drill taking from him and banned from doing antenna work

here I am searching the web, looking for a decent antenna grounding example. and all I see are idiots getting angry and going on about why you shouldn't drill into the bricks!... I mean come on! almost everyone here in the comments sound like those idiots who tell you not to overclock your pc because it will fail sooner. but in my experience with 3 constantly overclocked pc's that I built8 years ago that is not the case at all and in the end it's nothing more than pure speculation and lies. but that's off topic!. going back to the topic, if this guy wants to drill into his chimney then that shouldn't be everyone else's problem. what people should be looking at here is not why he drilled into his chimney but why real supposedly professional companies aren't following laws and regulations when it comes to properly grounding equipment when they install it on your roof. for instance the 3 previous dishes and the 4th new one I got installed for satellite internet after buying my place are not grounded at all!. not to mention the old ones that are all still being powered by a thin basic cord running from a power adapter to each of them. so instead of rolling in the obvious thought that putting someone else down will make you all feel better about yourselves why don't you just buzz off because in the end you all have worse personal problems than this guy will ever! have with his roof.

drilled into the top course and the corner!!!!! what in gods name is that aerial that they installed?? gimmick or what. if you zig zagged that cable across my roof you would be back up doing it PROPERLY!! so you try to make the cable runs neat, then you create a complete rats nest in the cupboard and leave it like that!!!!!
