Babangida survived Gideon Orkar’s coup by the whiskers. He almost lost his life. When he recovered from the attack, one of the first things he did was to have a meeting with Julius Berger Plc and begin the process of the award of contract for the construction of a more protected, sophisticated but highly restricted residence and workplace for the President of the country. In BIH, we take you back in time to the events that occurred in the historical past. In this edition, we take you back to the reasons Gen. Ibrahim Babangida moved to Aso Rock Villa in Abuja, barely two years before the end of his administration.

One thing I've noticed is that Abacha might not have been a good person but this man was a warrior. He had a loin heart.

@Youssef Camara what do you mean?
@youssefcamara3916
@youssefcamara3916 Год назад
@@ernestikomi4923 the cost in terms of all kind of human right abuses and the systematic plundered of Nigeria public treasures. I lived and worked in Kano for a Canadian government sponsored projects in both Kano and Zinder. I saw the evils of the late Abacha and what he did to his own people.

@Youssef Camara You are right on point brother. Abacha's regime was and still remains the darkest period in Nigerian history when soldiers were turned into assassins. Talk of the assassination of Kudirat Abiola, Alfred Rewane and shooting of Alex Ibru, Abraham Adesanya ( though those two survived) Anyone praising Abacha doesn't know what he/she is talking about.

I recall this day while I was on night duty at Tafawa Balews a Square, I remember clearly hearing the first shot around after 1am midnight, I thought it was police and robbers, but when the shooting continued I became suspicious that something was amiss though I didn't know it was a coup until my colleague took over from me at 7am who informed me that it was a coup.

questions should be asked to these surviving coup presidents of Nigeria. Many are still around. Ask them what they were trying to do by killing people to be president? . They should be spoken to with all earnesty to see the minds of these type of people who clearly did not really understand what they were doing. They should not be glorified with street names as they are now. Am certain that Nigerians will take down those street names once they realize that these men were not really rulers or leaders.

If the mission of the Patrotic dilgent officers have succeeded, Nigeria would have been better ,and maybe the evil genius maradonic would have been happier though not, because of the number of people he had sent to the early grave because of his greed and gluttonous graft .No matter how stupendously rich he is now the self inflicted pain he is going through now till eternity and hereafter cannot be imagined while l do not wish my enemy to go through it
