He is so smooth and has one terrific guitar tech! Watched the whole thing and I loved it! At first I wan’t sure what happened and then I could see the string but this guy just keeps playing. Great piano player too, thanks Adogg!

Piano Player is Reese Wynans, a legendary keyboard/piano player sideman. He is still active today at age 73 and regularly tours with Joe Bonamassa who is a guitar great in his own right. Chris Layton on drums, and Tommy Shannon on bass make up the rest of Double Trouble.. I saw Stevie & DT in November 1989, Hara Arena, Dayton, Ohio, festival seating(no seats on the floor of the arena). I was not 10 feet back from center stage. It was a dual headliner tour with Jeff Beck, another guitar legend. Incredible night of music. 9 months later Stevie was gone. Not ashamed to admit that I cried that day, for I knew we had lost someone who was truly special.

Stevie Ray Vaughan was the greatest guitar player ever bar none. I was lucky enough to see him in San Diego before his tragic death. Simply amazing makes my heart pound just thinking of it. His death hit me hard. I wish so much he would have been around for the world to enjoy live. Truly he was once in a lifetime gifted. Pride and Joy is the one always must sing along with.

Stevie Ray didn't even need strings to play. He proved it right there. Excellent reaction, sir. Now, bless yourself and watch this exact same song when Stevie Ray lets Jeff Healey play with him! You won't believe it. I'm not even shittin you. Jeff was blind. I'm not sayin anymore. It's very uplifting to watch. 🥳💯👌💣💥

Jeff Healey was awesome! A class act, I don't know if being blind, gave him a sixth sense, something that made him that much better as a musician, but it sure seemed like it! There are just some people that exceed all expectations, they are just that much better, and Jeff Healey was the true example of that! Funny that you mentioned him, because you couldn't be more on point! Thank you!

Reese Wynans' fingers looked abnormally long in the video; maybe an effect from the camera lens and/or the angle, but he sure can move those digits around Warp 6.

Pride and Joy is a superb Stevie Ray song. That's Reese blowing up the keyboards. In some songs, you'll see Reese literally playing 4 keyboards at the same. Two hands 4 keyboards. I ain't even lying.

Stevie Ray had no formal teaching, just learnning on his own, he was given the GIFT.....Just incredible, he plays fast and never misses a note....very humble individual and like others died to young and just when he was becoming a hot mother.. Every song he ever played he did like nothing we get up in the morning, his nature ability was AWESOME.....Taken to soon... Listen to him and his brother Jimmy play a double armed guitar...incredible that ability both show is just out of this world... Try it out you will be amazed.........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I had the pleasure of seeing him twice - the 2nd time was in the Astrodome with 50,000 plus - my son and I had floor seats row 10 dead center. Stevie opened for The Who that evening. But he stole the day, even Pete Townsend the great guitarist of The Who said as they came on stage - "I don't know if I can follow that young man, WOW!!!" The great ones do keep going, Pete twisted his ankle about 3 songs into their set and only missed one song, when he came back they had taped what looked like an entire bag of ice to his ankle but he finished the rest of the show - another hour on stage standing on that bad ankle. btw - i love your reactions - keep up the good work. I'm 64, and old hippie rocker, watching your reactions to the music I grew up on is a delight. Never loose your enthusiasm for life and good music. Your energy makes my day, it comes through as genuine and helps me get through the day. See, I live with chronic pain and am dealing with cancer. Music is my escape mechanism and your channel is part of that escape. So, I have to say THANK YOU.

His little "Thankyou very much!" before the band intros...like Elvis and his "Thankyou, thankyou very much...your very kind" (or similiar...giving props to main band as SO many lol!) I saw Stevie Ray at one of the Willie Nelson 4th of July Picnics in south Austin back in the mid 1980s. Talk a bout a party. Those picnics the Willie would put on had bands and people from all walks of life. People from all around Texas came to that party. The fire department would spray water over the crowd to cool us down. Didn't need to smoke any weed. There was plenty of cloud wafting about. I wonder what he would have became if he had not died. Truly great artist. One of my all time favorites.

Reese Wynan is the piano player. And tip of the hat to Mr. Rene Martinez, best guitar tech ever. My brother and I used to go see Stevie play all the time. He did weekly shows at a little place called Hole In The Wall, and about weekly at other places like Antones and Liberty Lunch. *SUPER* nice guy. He literally gave my buddy Mike the pickups off his guitar once because Mike broke his. Mike was playing Antones, Steven was in the back with Clifford Antone watching the show. We didn't even know he was there. Mike was gonna end the show early because he didn't have another guitar to play, but his was the same model Fender Strat that Stevie plays. Stevie went out to his car and took the pickups off his, brought them to Muke and said something like, "Keep playing, brother. You're on fire!" True story. I miss that man.

1. There are VERY good guitarists out there and have been for every decade. BB King, John Coltrain, Yngwie Maumstein, Prince, and the list goes on and on. 2. The thing with SRV is that he paid his dues in junk places and dives, then he learned from other GODS, BB, Jimi, Prince, and then he took all that education and knowledge and made his indelible mark on the globe. 3. SRV played with passion and heart, but that old beat-up guitar was an extension of his physical form. He and that guitar melted together, and he became a man obsessed when playing. Supernatural if you will. BB King asked him to play with him and SRV STILL felt unworthy to be on the same stage. 4. SRV died in a plane crash after rehab, getting clean and living right over 2.5 decades ago. I feel cheated, but that is my feeling because I am selfish and need new music from him and will never get it. The world is truly worse off since his passing, which was traumatic as well as tragic considering all he had to endure to get to the top of his mountain. 5. Yes, he was and still is the BEST guitarist to take the stage. He commanded respect and awe, silence and deafening roars upon completion of his master guitar work. And thru all of it, he never felt good enough to take the stage with BB King. Humility and dedication, persistence, hard work, made him the virtuoso he was. We are, all of us still in mourning over his passing. 6. His music and talent blast open the doors of your soul, your body, mind, and emotions are exhausted at the end of his concert, because he fills the entire venue with his passion, possession, and obsession with the trance he entered when playing, and had you had that experience to stand in the presence of history and greatness of this magnitude, you would also be changed. For life. His popularity, although not as grand as some of the mainstream artist in each genre of music, was almost fanatical. He refused to "sell out". He played to live, to breathe, to exist, even for a brief moment. We were given a glimpse of the majesty of his skills/talent/ability. 7. He embodied the music, and he and his music transcended all races, colors, languages, countries, politics, religions, because the true measure of a man or woman of this height, is the ability to transcend all boundaries regardless of how impregnable they were. To touch every soul, you reach out to and to change it, forever. 8. Yes- he broke a string. In the Voodoo Chile session, he dropped his pick 2wice and never ever missed a note. And yes, his crowds were silent during his performances, no one wanted to miss a single note. But when he was done, deafening, thunderous applause. R. I. P. SRV - May you find the peace, you so rightly deserve and seemingly, so horribly felt was escaping you in life. You are missed more than you could ever ever know.

Adogg, you are correct. He is the best guitarist ever. Anyone who says different is a fool. And he was a damn great human being as well.

IMO, every generation has one great guitarist that rises to fame then something horribly goes wrong and they die, Randy, Jimmy, SRV, etc. I believe that there is a guitar (demon, angel, or some sort of energy) that passes from one to the other. Some could say that they were once at the crossroads but either way, all these GREAT guitarist are no longer able to give us fresh music. RIP; Randy, Jimmy and SRV. Love your channel.

Please react to raw footage called “Soundcheck”. Even Stevie’s soundcheck is perfection and a mini-concert!

Saw a video of his string breaking and then he replaced it while still playing. He was a once in a lifetime experience. RIP Stevie!
