Reilly did the right thing. He' paying the price but the slapshot to the net was the "bitch" move. All 32 coaches and hockey fandom knew that guy was getting hit after that disrespect.
Hockey has retained it's traditions. The slapshot on the empty net was disrespectful, but he should've dropped the gloves instead of the cross-check...although the other guy wouldn't have taken the bait.
@@JDAWGcorrect. Scoring the goal was not the issue. Happens all the time on empty net. The "problem" was the wind up slap shot on the wide open net. If he just slid it in normally would have been a non issue
There is a lot of crazy stuff hockey players do but a slapshot into an open net really is nothing. If an opposing team can get you to loose your cool and draw a penalty that easily, you better have a great PK. The player shouldn't have taken a slapshot, not because of being disrespectful but because it is easy to mess up and miss. I've seen plenty of open net misses in the NHL. Lots of young kids in the NHL, but they are playing as a pro, time to act that way.
