I believe that’s exactly what they did and then had to suffer the fury of hell on earth by watching their only child slowly die by their actions! I believe it is quite fitting for them!
That's a beautiful mausoleum and cemetery! I was there years ago, and I remember viewing that memorial through each window, marveling at the realistic faces and detailed clothing. 💐
That is such a sad story. The tomb is incredible, though - just so creative and beautiful and unique. Thank you for sharing Steve. Blessings - Judith 🎤🎭
Thanks for sharing Steve. Really sad story. Unfortunately, one that happens way too often. I suppose that she left her Bible as a sign for him that she will see him again in Heaven and they will live forever happily together.
I also agree with your theory Steve. His parents had plenty of money to send her away. She probably was not as in love with him as she was the money. So sad for that young man. Yes, I believe people can die of broken hearts.😢💔
They may have told her to take the money and leave and never contract him again or threatened her life is she didn’t take the money. I mean who really knows just a thought. 🤷🏼♀️
It is as beautiful as you can imagine. The story I was told when I was young, many many years ago, was pretty much like yours, however the thought was here, that while she disappeared and left her bible behind that actually she died, no-one was sure how and if it was murder, but they had underestimated how much they loved each other, and from sheer sadness he simply wasted away. They built the crystal tomb, as we called it, out of love ,sorrow, and guilt. Many stories and famous people here. Always peaceful, I love it here.
That reminds me a bit of a movie I watched last night, The Valley of Decision with Greer Garson as the maid and Gregory Peck as the rich man’s son. Thank you for sharing this story.
I agree with your theory Steve, the parents probably offered more money then she could expect to make in a lifetime. Along with a one-way ticket to a destination far away.
It’s sad that parents can’t accept who you fall in love with while they lost their son that built a beautiful memorial to him and themselves, but they were to blame for his death. Have a good day Steve Karen.
The mausoleum is beautiful!, and the family looks so life like. Maybe the young man would have lived if he and the maid could have been together. So sad for them. My favorite cemeteries are the ones with statues, and weeping angels. And also mausoleums. Thanks for sharing this video, have a blessed week.
My suspicious mind says that, because she left HER Bible, she probably was killed by the parents. If she just left, she would not have left her Bible behind.
You stand correct, bibles were especially popular in the 1700s and 1800s, and families passed them down from one generation to the next.. the Bible was very important, in those years, that would be your marriage certificate, your birth certificate, death certificate.. it's all true you can look it up.. 1902 when they started birth certificates. the first standardized marriage certificates were issued in the late 1800s. The U.S. Bureau of the Census developed the first standard certificates for the registration of vital events-births and deaths-in 1900.. before all of this it was the family Bible.. When the American Falls was temporarily diverted in 1969, two bodies were found,, just maybe one was her.. it's only a hop skip and jump from Buffalo to the falls.
Happy Saturday Steve!! That is incredible!! I've never seen anything so unique and beautiful. Steve, you are the best. Honest, accurate and always finding the most intriguing and informative graves😊 Keep 'em coming. 🕊️❤️🙏
I’ve visited Forest Lawn and the Blocher Memorial many times over the years. Used to live very nearby and made it a point to walk or ride a bike through many times. This particular memorial is absolutely beautiful, and tells a sad story. I’m so pleased that you made this video and showed off the hidden jewel in this cemetery. Thank you. ❤
That has to be the most magnificent memorial tomb I've ever seen. Wow. Just wow. The story you told, that you were made aware of, could be or could not be the truth (as you stated) and could be another story that is of another nature. But whatever the reason he passed, his parents surpassed showing the love they had for him having this built for his final resting place. It's a masterpiece in a cemetery. You get around!
If they had really wanted to show their love, they would have blessed that relationship and approved a marital union. IF the story is true, that is ...
As always thank you Steve for posting yet another excellent video from your travels across America and for keeping memories alive of those who have passed on too.
I’m thrilled to see that you are doing this documentary. This cemetery is so Beautiful and it’s enormous. I have love the Blocher tomb the most. Thank You for showing this Beautiful Cemetery 🌹🌹🌹🌹♥️♥️♥️♥️
What an extraordinary monument ... so sad, yet so beautiful. I understand grief/loss can cause people to become ill and even die. We see it frequently in elderly couples. When one spouse passes, the other soon follows. We'll never know what was said/done to the maid that made her leave, but clearly poor Nelson died of a broken heart.
Wonderful sad story of love and life. Beautiful Tomb, the statues are so life like. Always like hearing your stories, and videos. You give a calming narrative.
I still so love your video downcast top your walking feet...nice touch! Fascinating story I never heard. Thanks so much! It's always possible that If the parents were rich, they were then powerful, and might have had her 'deleted' and eventually felt the pain of what they caused...sad either way!
There is a photo on his Find a Grave memorial page. I was going to share it but it’s so small that it just looked blurry on the video so I figured people who are interested could just check it out on Find a Grave.
Thanks for sharing this Steve! Sounds like the parents paid her to leave or possibly had her whacked. But then when their son suffered and died. They felt great remorse 😢 🙏
The statues are intricately designed with such detail. The craftsmanship was just superb! Reminds me of The Chicago World Fair craftsmanship during the Tartarian Era! Sad story
Sad story. What is kind of surprising is that the memorial is kept so clean. You can see through the windows and there is no dirt or fallen leaves around it. Thank you, Steve for telling us their story. Take care.
Sad story but what a beautiful tribute to him! I cant imagine how much that cost them! You dont see monuments like this today but back in the 1800s it seems there were alot of wealthy people that would buy monuments like this! Todays money, that would cost a mill or more easily! Looking on the internet it states the father did sculpting as a hobby so maybe he did this himself? Or just designed it? It also states that the sculpture of the son laying on that bed, it turns so u can get to the burial vaults underneath! Great story! Thank u!
Hello Steve from England. This is the first time I've come across your videos, I enjoyed watching this video & have subscribed to your channel. Blessing from England 🏴
Hi Steve...a very beautiful but sad story..the glass tomb is very beautiful and such a creative idea to have constructed..I am sure he died of a broken heart....thanks for vlogging your always interesting and informative stories..take care..... Deborah 🇨🇦😉
It was an awesome trip Lana! This was filmed in 2022, but it’s taking me this long to finally add and share it. I still have many more from this trip to share in the future.
Hi Steve, I have personally experienced something similar but cultural when I was younger and sadly It still exists today. It can become very vicious and even resort to forgery and defamation. In the end, she was shipped off and married off in another country. Her last message to me was, "they are still trying to brainwash me." Never saw her again. I'm sure I know how this guy felt. Great vlog 👍
I have to agree this kind of manipulation is still being done to this day if a parent(s) don’t like you for whatever reasons they will find a way to break you up. The man I nearly married very religious and his mother was controlling, possessive, overbearing and manipulative and was really big on the Honor Thy Mother and Father Commandment . He was very indoctrinated in his religion and he was a 30 year old grown man who had to be home by 9:00 pm he came to my house one time walked in and wasn’t in the door 5 minutes before is mother called and told him he had to be home. There is a reason why we are no longer together. I also think he was afraid of his parents and the elders in his congregation. This might have been the reason with man as well who knows.
Beautiful memorial to Nelson Blocher by his parents, but a sad 😢 story. Have you ever been to Lakeview Cemetery in Jamestown, New York, where comedian Lucille Ball is buried? It’s a nice cemetery. My sister Charlene Adams is buried there but she has no gravestone, unless someone in the family up there had one placed. I don’t know, because I haven’t been up there since 1996/7. My 5 week old baby daughter Michele Reneé Fiske is buried there too, in the childrens’ section. Last time I was there, my baby’s gravestone could not be found. Come to find out, the gardener had buried it with the lawnmower. Don’t know how he did it, but he did. Luckily, they uncovered it that day while I was there.
Hi Diane, yes, I did visit that cemetery about a year and a half ago. The video from my visit to Lucille Ball’s gravesite is on this channel. So sorry for the loss of your sister and your daughter. 💙
As soon as I watched your video, I just knew that they killed her or had her killed. If she had gone of her own will, she would never have left her bible; back then, a bible was a person's heart; she would not have left it. That glass tomb was built so elaborately to ease their guilt. Still, I hope wherever they put her, she is once more reunited with her true love, and his parents can never stop two hearts that genuinely love each other from being together, not even in death. It would be interesting to know where the parents are buried.
This monument was expensive, big time. What a remarkable work of art, it speaks of the love the parents had for son. It's too! bad they were so blind, the hear wants what the heart needs. ❤
Thanks for letting me know Shannon. I almost didn’t share this video because I assumed everyone had already seen it and heard about it. I guess I need to stop assuming. 😊
I was there about 24 years ago. That ENTIRE cemetery is crazy beautiful. People get married there. There was a caretaker that used to work there-and he told me the glass is there to keep people from defacing the grave. He told me only that the parents were extremely distraught over the death of their son. N0 lost love-he got sick-TB I think he said it was.
Steve you have came across the border to niagara on the lake and thorold lots of historic grave sites here Like Patrick Donnelly from the black donnelly clan Canada's first crime family or graves of 1812 war soldiers from canada and the usa,
Thanks for mentioning them Christopher. my road trip took six weeks, and I feel like I barely scratched the surface of interesting cemeteries and gravesites. So many graves, so little time to visit them all. 🙃
