He Experienced The WORST Medical Screw Up Ever (Mr Ballen) | Kidd and Cee Reacts 

Sherman's story is so horrifying! I remember first learning about anesthesia awareness when I was 11. I saw a segment on a show called "Worse Case Scenario". A year later, I had to have surgery and I asked the nurse about anesthesia awareness. She was obviously surprised that a 12 year old knew about it. She said assured me that is incredibly rare and I'll be fine. My surgery went fine. You are supposed to countdown from 10 when you are given anesthesia. I made it to 8 when all the sudden I woke up after surgery. I can't remember falling asleep.

Sherman’s story is horrific. If they hadn’t administered the amnesiac drug, while he might’ve sued the hospital for medical malpractice,at least he’d be able to go to like therapy, or even just talk to his wife and family and been able to get some sorta closure or control back over his life. But they left this man, a pillar in his community to suffer as a mere shell of his self in the last 2 weeks of his life, for their next paychecks.

Sherman had PTSD and had no idea why. If the hospital had owned up to the mistake, it might have cost them money but instead, they tried to cover it up, and it cost this poor man his sanity and his life.

I'm a nurse in a GI endoscopy department. We use Midazolam (Versed) often for moderate (conscious) sedation. Its similar to valium or other anti-anxiety medications where it helps relax you and you dont care a whole lot about whats happening. It does have a powerful amnesia effect so most people don't remember the procedure afterwards so that is correct. This is an example of no accountability whatsoever. The anesthesiologist screwed up big time!

3 - the jumping out the building thing is a perfect example of why I tell people I'm actually scared of falling, not heights. Cause I have no problem with being high up in general but i only get nervous if i start to feel the sensation of falling or movement. 2 - just tragic. He must have been doing super well if they wanted to take him out 3 - the amnesia drug got me thinking about other situations it could've been used in...

Sherman case remains me of that movie "Awake"..

I had to have a cyst removed & was put under local anesthesia; I was so afraid that I would experience the awareness, but thankfully I didn't. Apparently they gave me the stuff that Michael Jackson OD'd on & I remember nothing from the operation; I remember the nurses getting me to wake up in the hallway, then I remember being in the car, then I was home.

I see why elderly people don’t want to see the doctor sad

Aint that ironic. They try'd to avoid a Law suit and ended up getting an even bigger Charge. A life could have been saved, if they just owned up on their mistake.

Sherman basically ended up with a case of PTSD

I have hippocampus sclerosis, and severe epilepsy because of that, I now have a lot of brain damage in my hippocampus and the main reason is because my old neurologist let me go through a seizure that was prolonged over 12 hours, I had to be incubated and comatose due to it going on so long l. Thing is all he had to do was give my doctors permission to administer the medication, by this point I was seizing at leastan hour and a half, he knew I needed he wanted to see it for himself so he waited the 10+ more hours so he can come in the morning to watch it happen with his own eyes. I plan on going back with a lawyer to sue him back to the stone age but I'm waiting to save up the money.

I believe I know one of his kin, Jimmy Ashcroft, Pentecostal, believing in conditional security of the believer. He referenced a Baptist Minister in his family that had a very rough departure from earth. His story makes much more sense now! Ty Mr Ballen and you two for keeping the story current. We are definitely complicated creatures by design …

I live in WV, about 45 mins away from where the last story took place. It makes me sad & angry every time I hear about his experience. And scared because I’ve had family & friends that have been admitted there before. I really hope the operating team at RGH got fired & lost their medical licenses over this…especially the anesthesiologist.

my grandma lived that horror story on uruguay when she was operated around 1950's she got a gold bladder removal (in the day you got the old fashioned open gut surgery not the today's microscopic/vaccum sealed removal that once you wake up at the 24 hours are sent back to home) she got the full surgery done. she even felt her intestines move out and then in place. she never speaked about it, more than she felt EVERYTHING to the last moment. i think it was 2 hours the full surgery. that was standard practice/operation hazard so no she could not get a lawsuit. not to mention another person that was days later got the same surgery by the same surgeon did it wrong and the person slowly died in front of my grandma i think it was by septic shock. and the nurses gossiped and loled about "how many patients X surgeon is killing lately and nobody seems to care/stop him" so truly a horror story.

No where near the horror that the man in story 3 went through but just an example of incompetent hospital staff...I had surgery a few years ago and when I woke up I kept telling my nurse I had a horrible pain "down there" and she kept brushing it off, getting an attitude and telling me I just had surgery and I'm supposed to be in pain. Finally the pain became so intense I demanded she pull the cover off and check and as soon as she did her eyes got huge and whole demeanor changed. She started apologizing over and over and scrambling to get me pain medication. This woman had forgot to secure the catheter and for hours it had been tugging and pulling. Even though I was in so much pain and she was a b!tch I was appreciative she was honest about her mistake. She could have secured it and acted like there was no issue. She did seem to genuinely feel bad for her mistake so I forgave her. I also had a dentist make a pretty major screw up and I think he thought about not telling me because I had to keep asking what was going on and what the issue was for 45 mins but he eventually told me he had accidentally broke off a root of tooth and it got pushed up into my sinuses when he tried to get it. I might end up having to get surgery if it causes sinus problems in the future but I forgave him as well. If people are honest and own up to their mistakes and genuinely seem to feel bad I let it go and dont try to get them fired or sue because I dont want someone to be afraid to be honest about major mess ups. My bad about the long story... story number 3 just triggered some memories for me apparently! Lol

The one of the great things about Mr ballen is you'll see movies or visa versa after listening to him n these are true stories n actual news footage old news papers n are facts n there waaay b 4 movie comes out different unless the movie is promoted as a true story otherwise horrible things you'll see in movies are movies that are made around real true stories n ballen tells the true story n years later Hollywood will use most important theme but change into a different back story they copy the real not whole story but only the most or most important intense part of a true story ballen tells truestories where Hollywood gets its ideas from

There's a movie about what happened to Sherman. I cant watch it cuz im worried its gonna put me off all hospitals, doctors and especially surgeries.
