Yeah, look at Heavensward's story as well. It wasn't world-threatening and the best parts were very character-focused. Some of the best parts were about Ysale's/ Estinien's personal story, so I'm hoping for more of that.

14:20 "the plot can only be propelled forward with conflict" is such a western perspective. you know, "plot is two dogs and a bone." but the most archetypal eastern story is "journey to the west." and that's just a story of group of dudes and a monkey boy travelling from point a to b. conflict happens along the way, but that's not what pushes the story forward.

A man and his group vs. a pilgrimage involving various demons trying to eat you counts as a conflict. Journey to the West is filled with conflict. I agree it is over simplistic to say *every* story needs conflict tho. A story does need stakes however. Even if the stakes are low like "I want to get home" or "I want to see my friend" we need a reason for the journey to happen, and a reason for us to care. So far DT admittedly hasn't given much stakes.
