Yes, I do watch, and I want to thank you sincerely for this review and for helping me to improve! I've been in Italy for a month and been working on replacing insulation in my attic for the past several weeks, so I'm WAY behind in reading & responding to LinkedIn! Sorry about that! I'd love to do a podcast episode with you. I completely agree with your assessment and reasoning. ECGC, arachadonic acid, grape seed, pycnogenol, and SOD would be better in the morning. I did have them there but moved around a bunch of things prior to my Italy trip. Supplement timing is super challenging. I will be moving them back to morning again, per your sensible recommendation.

You found a typo on my site. I take 4g NAC, not 1. I will increase Glucosamine to 3g. My zinc at 30mg/day appears to be fine, based upon blood and HTMA measures of zinc/coper ratios. As to that outrageous price for TA-65, I do not pay that! 😅 That's some kind of Amazon web error! The actual price is $57 per 30 day supply. Again, thanks to you, I will be fixing that link on my site!! 😂

Hi Dave. Very interesting and exhaustive list of supplements. I like how you added GG to offset the negative effects of the Red Yeast Rice. Have you considered adding to the stack Acetyl L-Carnitine which easily crosses the blood brain barrier? I used to believe it's either L-Carnitine or Acetyl L-Carnitine...but nowadays, I take a little bit of both (credit to Dr. Russell Blaylock). I have two caveats: The Grassfed Beef Liver, LE Multivitamin, and Rosita Cod Liver oil combined are many times over the RDI for vitamin A. It's possible the high dose vitamin D3 negates/offsets some of the vitamin A. Excessive vitamin A (beyond what the body can process) will accumulate in the liver...until one day when it cannot and retinoic acid (via bile) spills into the blood. Over the long term (i.e. we're talking months, years, or possibly decades), I believe the consistent overconsumption of vitamin A will eventually lead to hypervitaminosis A and the effects are devastating. Look up the many scientific papers published by Anthony R Mawson. Check out the many instances of premature deaths within the Weston A Price community - who promote organ meat and cod liver oil consumption. There's also a running thread on Twitter/X of several dozen "nose-to-tail"/organ meat consuming carnivores who have crashed and burned. My second concern relates to trehalose. I understand it's popular within the longevity space but if you're curious about its darker side, head over to Hormones Matter (the website) and search for their articles on trehalose. Personally, I go out of my way to avoid trehalose (i.e. brand name: Treha but sometimes it's hidden from the ingredients and list as Natural Flavors).

@@DavePascoesURL @SiimLand Guys it would be a good idea to read Dr Michael Greger's book How Not to Age. It's a great guide to what works and what doesn't, and what's been properly tested. I have a supplement spreadsheet with the lists of Bryan, you Siim and Sandra Kaufmann, I will add you Dave. That way I can see what you all agree on. PS I am 76 with a biological age of 57. Ha, there may be a little truth in that, but a good deal of that "$30k" has gone to testing. Unfortunately, not all of it is testable. And, my supplement list is constantly evolving, with things being added, others dropping off, dosages and timing changing, all in response to my testing, to new information, new research, new studies, and even new theories. I don't have an entire team doing the work for me, so I can only do what one person can do with limited resources, while also out living a full life. 😉 You can laugh at that, but I'm quite happy with my results. 🙂

Actually, different types of berries are very different from one another, which is why I include about 16 types of berries in my diet. For example, blueberries are a good source of anthocyanins, while strawberries are a good source of ellagitannins and ellagic acid, which are not found in blueberries (or if so, in very small amounts). Blueberries contain pterostilbene (which strawberries don't have, as far as I know), whereas strawberries are the richest known source of fisetin(which blueberries don't have, as far as I know). Maqui berries contain delphinidum(which can prevent spikes in blood sugar, even when taken with a high-glycemic meal), which other berries don't have (except for Concord grapes, I read). Sea buckthorn berries and rose hips both contain lycopene (and are good sources), which most other berries don't have. And black raspberries and red raspberries contain even more ellagitannins than strawberries have. Although "wild" strawberries have the highest amount of ellagitannins of any known food, I read. And aronia berries contain even more anthocyanins and proanthocyanins than blueberries have. Plus, different berries have widely-different ORAC values. Coffee cherries have an ORAC of 343,282 (and have been found to increase BDNF in the brain); whereas wild blueberries have an ORAC of 9,000.
@DavePascoesURL
@DavePascoesURL 2 месяца назад
Agreed. That's why I eat blueberries, raspberries, blackberries, and goji berries primarily. I do eat some strawberries, and take Siberia Sea Buckthorn oil. I would even do more berries if they were readily available to me. I know I get critiqued for having seeming "redundancies" in my protocol, but I would consider them more to be "overlaps", since, as your berries example illustrates, some seemingly similar things at a broad level do have "similar mechanisms", but they also provide for different compounds that are believed to be beneficial in and of themselves.

Correct Great video but the statement about berries, nuts etc is false As you said, the nutrition profiles are similar but definitely not similar enough to ditch specific berries, nuts or herbs Walnuts for example are "superior" to other nuts but that doesn't mean you shouldn't eat other nuts as well I mean think about it... From an evolutionary standpoint, humans consumed whatever they got their hands on No time to be picky just get everything and survive And geography is also important In hot countries and places you got watermelons, coconuts etc Perfect to hydrate So in my opinion, genetics matter a lot in terms of optimal nutrition I guess the "easiest solution" for most people would be a balanced diet containing mostly regional foods but adjusted to personal genetics

The rules change as you get older, preference gives way to necessity and life choices are driven by different values. Health problems require real solutions from personal trial and experimentation. I found the video very interesting

I also increase the amount of raw meat and raw eggs, especially raw egg yolk I eat. I.e raw organic sirloin steak. I don’t take any supplements. My skin is very clean and has nice texture. I take a small peace of raw liver every day for vitamin A

Wow- that's insane the effort it takes to stay young. In my opinion, it comes across as excessive. Logically I'd think overtaxing your body with so many nutrients would work the opposite. Buying, shopping, preparing, mixing, scheduling, researching, reading, applying, following through... Would seem to stress you out thus rendering it futile. It's challenging enough for me just to remember half the stuff I want to do on a day-to-day basis. Imagine having to rely on help or a partner with the same goals. Having a family would seem impossible to maintain with such dedication. I guess it takes all kinds. I'm not sure I'd enjoy living with so much dedication to nutrition and or just being a guinea pig for all these supplements and nutrition experiments. I'm glad they have passion. Their dedication and experimentation has given us some rational health improvements that we can benefit from. I'm grateful, I've learned from his experimentation and I'll take what applies to my situation. Great Blog!

That supplement list is just silly, but some of them are great. If it's not sustainable what's the point? You get a few years more than the average knucklehead. But I totally acknowledge quality of life is huge, I think through managing mental/emotional stress, prayer, faith, salvation, Bible study, sleep, exercise, diet, ditching the haters, etc, we can get great results too. Game changer for me is the info about plasma donation. Maybe that's the secret of the celebs, people used to say that got "blood transfusions." Maybe they were just pulling out plasma. Cheers!

Id argue taking green tea when you are at your thinnest (in the morning) could be too de-energizing. Personally I find my energy levels at its best if I just take it at my fattest, however I use catabolic agents as tools to get rid of the excess added from a loose carbohydrate and fats diet (im too thin so I dont want to miss on some nutrients for being too restrictrive).

One thing I think Siim would do well to realize is I think the anti-aging routine of a man who is over 50 needs to be a bit different than the anti aging routine of someone around 30. Siim does a lot of “personally, I would not” … But Siim is also chronologically very young. It’s a whole other ballgame I bet trying to reverse *actual* old age.

Almond vs hazelnut have major chemical DEFERENCES which make the daily limit way lower for hazelnuts. Hydrogen cyanide in goldne flax will take away dreaming after a little bit dont underestimate the nutritive and chemical variations. for the nutritive variation black and white sesame contrast nutrients so taking both gets you a mor even profile and less spikes meaning less specific food picking this is a pattern you see when you take in the bredth of nuts and seeds vs 1-2

Anyone who is familiar with the incredibly high stress of being a Network Security Architect/Engineer would have a great chuckle at this as I just did. Add to that P90X, marathon running, and being the sole care provider for my parents as they battled cancer for the last 20 years of their lives, the stress was eating me alive and was destroying my telomere lengths. And a quick perusal of my family & family tree would show you that I didn't win any genetic lottery. Plus, I've had my full genome sequenced and compared my genes to my parents and brother & sister. Based upon sheer # of pos & neg markers, I, the youngest, have the worst genetics of anyone in my family. Mom & Dad were older and further into their decline into smoking, drinking, non exercise, and poor eating habits by the time they had me. 😅

Agree on the genetics aspect. I believe those that are doing very well in this race to be younger have a genetic component that’s benefiting them. Similar to strength training, there are those that can strengthen and build muscle very effectively, and those that genetically find it very challenging to do so.

Very interesting. Seems like you don't need to avoid carbs all together just limit them. Also some people burn calories more easily than others so these people can eat more carbs in this case and I think I'm one of them. I'm thin and it's more difficult for me to gain weight. I eat carbs I just limit them but I don't calculate I simply listen to my body and I know when to stop. I eat 1 big keto meal a day to make sure to never get hungry until the next big meal. But sometimes I feel like snacking on some carbs so that's pretty much my diet. I'm 34 years and most people can't tell my age correctly they think im much younger than my actual age. I'm very proud of myself even though I could probably do better but I'm in the right path at least. Also I take a lot of supplements right now and it's hard to tell how many because for example the collagen peptides I'm taking is multi supplement on it's own but I don't know how many ingredient in there because it's not mentioned. Also I'm avoiding the sun, I go in the sun only if I have to. When I go in the sun I put spf 50+ in my face and neck and cover my entire body with clothes that provide upf 50+ Also I moisturize my entire body daily.

Taking this many supplements makes me wonder if each of them have been empirically tested. How would one know if all of them actually have a benefit? To me it seems like a ”everything including the kitchen sink” approach. Assuming youd need 2-3 weeks to evaluate each supplement it would take many years to work up to these amounts. And also the point about how many of them do the same thing and that some are countering each others support my scepticism. It reminds me of a childrens program where they mixed sausage and ice cream because since each of them taste good, combining them itll taste great! Also the omission of some things is a bit strange. Like why take all those unproven mithochondrial supportive pills with instead of methylene blue that have very solid research as being helpful to mithochondrial health? Some of these supplement and food choices seem like ”populism nerdiness” than actually based in proper empirical thinking.
