He has been doing this alone, but now we are coming to help. We get to work along side our son and learn how to build with hyperadobe. It's a lot of dirt and a lot of work! These walls are sold, and almost a full 18 inches thick.
In this video: We give a quick recap of our son's hyperadobe build, then Red makes the roof support beams, next we load up some materials and take them up to our son's property, and finally we start helping our son prep the dirt and show more of the actual process of building with hyperadobe.

My daughter lives in Tucson and has rerouted all her gray water to the backyard where it waters a lawn and some fruit trees and citrus and vegetable patches.. She has days when she allows visitors in and shows them what they can do by saving all the household water. She has created an impressive oasis. I think, coming from Australia her ideas were to recreate what she knew from home. As most of Australia is desert we are used to being careful with our water usage. Your son ‘s project is really creative and l look forward to following your videos. 🌈🐨

A certified surveyor. These are individuals working for themselves or a small engineering firm. Certified because the jurisdiction where your land is probably prefers that. Building & Planning Department of your county or city has the information you want with respect to soils testing, septic, what you can build, and so on. The county clerk's recorder office has information on legal description (boundaries, right of way, easements, etc), plus title, title history, liens, water right, mineralvrights, et al. Do not be put off if those government offices think you pester them too much. Not all employees are lazy but enough of them move quickly into being unhelpful. Ask your questions and make as many visits to those offices as you need. You pay for it, use it. But do your homework! Figure out ahead of time what you want to know. It gets easier as you become more familiar with the process and who knows what. Write everything, large pad of paper. Ask and ask and again, but try not to waste yours or their time. Making friends of those folks goes a long way. Also, remember; whatever you plan or build will likely require inspections. Inspectors are with B&P. Make friends, not tick them off. Study your areas building code. Sometimes an inspector will tell you something which is incorrect, but you would know better if you know the code. I reckon your friend suggested a current survey because old surveys may not be accurate, and to head off any land squabbles with adjacent properties. I may seem cynical but because I've built houses for over 20 years in many different areas. Some offices are a real joy, others you think they should be fired. Best wishes and God bless you.

I’ve been waiting for this! I’ve been studying/watching hyperadobe, looks like he’s doing a great job. Interesting that he does it from the freshly filled side of the filling rig, other people I’ve seen load from the wheel side. I gather they did it that way because it is easier to walk on tamped bags. They also tamp full runs at once instead of tamping while you go. However those were all team builds. Iknow how labor intensive this is and very impressed he has the gumption to do it solo.

Excellent narration, a delight to watch and listen. I too am in AZ and for some time I've been interested in building from what is found in the property. This here is the first I've known about the continuous bag method. Pretty ingenious. 'Dry pack' (just enough water to hydrate (clump) the clayey soil is the best means although very labor intensive. Perhaps slather the inside of that pit with clay/wood ash to make the walls impermeable. After baking in the AZ heat, fill with water (and a bit of chlorine) for a sorely needed hot tub.

Very good technique. What are you considering for flooring?? My grandfather did something similar in west Texas. Flooring for his house was unique??? He cut mesquite 10 inch logs out of trash limbs and removed trees from a landscape company?? He burned the bark of the logs and the heat Caramelized the sap and sugar ?? He stood them on end with the big side up like a funnel for any water would push the sap out for 6 months.. Logs standing on end ! He arranged the assorted sizes to make patterns pretty tight between logs ?? Filled the gaps between the logs with sandy soil and sanded the logs even and finished with a heavy clay mix packed down 🤔 Still looks great with wood pattern.. Take Care and enjoy your adventures 😊✌️

*This is awesome!!* I've never seen such a large hyperadobe in one piece before this! However, I'm fairly new to this style of home building. There are no deserts even remotely close to where I live and we have a good 6-8 months of winter every year, so, I don't know how practical this method would be?? Edit: I think that the pit, where the sand/clay came from, would be a great spot for a small pod. Since y'all have a well, with lots of water...you could even stock it with fish with a filtration/oxygenation system. 🎣🦆

The channel, "My Little Homestead" has built a lot of structures out of earth bags and hyperadobe. You could check them out. Yeah, this type of structure works best with extreme day and night temperature variations. The walls heat up during the day and release the warmth during the night, and vise versa in the summer. It might keep you above freezing in the winter, but maybe not much more than that. A fish pond would be awesome! I'll mention it to him. 🌞

I'm into collecting and working with snakes at around the 7:50 mark when they were talking about scrap piles a great place to hunt for snakes

We do have snakes, but don't see them real often. A few diamondback rattlesnakes, some red racers, bull snakes, and gardener snakes. We also have seen a green Mojave rattlesnake! 😬

Anyone doing this should build a pivoting wooden crane with 12 volt winch in the center powered by a small water pump moving water back and forth to lift 500lbs easily. But we need to give credit for the hard work, Wow

Bottle bricks ate a good add and easily made. *Thick glass wine bottles cut in half, then the bottoms joined and taped together then placed in between the sand bags.

Yes, the smaller size definitely helps, but it's still a lot of work!

Wow the adobe would look great and work well with a [ shape around the Van with a roof any extra solar on top. The roof could even be sandwiched with insulation built in….just saying that could work well as another build for filming…for family or to rent out and make a little extra for pensions.

The radius corners appear to be moving slightly out of plumb the higher they go.

Only one more foot to go on the backside, so it won't be a problem. It turned out a lot straighter than we expected, and is going to work out just fine.

BEST tubesock building video I have ever seen over the past 20 years. I live in Luna County, SW New Mexico, probably a few hours drive from where you are located. I am hoping that Kyle will hold a workshop (with around 6 people) and let us learn as we build a small outbuilding for him over 3-4 days. I would pay up to a couple of hundred dollars to be able to learn on the job. (Retired nurse living on SS now, so funds are limited). Think about it. Karenlee

Appreciate it! We aren't planning to do any workshops. Tiny Shiny Home, channel did one recently, and I think they are planning to do more. They also have lots of videos on building with Hyperadobe. Best wishes! 🌞
