We recently finished building our passive solar design, off-grid home, and now we are helping our son complete his hyperadobe tiny house.
April 14, 2023 was our 2 year anniversary of living on our off grid family property. Two of our kids are also living on their own parcels of the property.
Red and I have four grown kids, three daughters and one son. Our three daughters are married, and we have two grandchildren.
Take morining and evening 2,000 mg each of C and MSM and all pain will disappear in body that is stressed. Do some c midday to help keep the antioxidant level high. Good nutrition is the key to supporting stress and hard work.
i recommend planting some trees from the out side of the garden it'll keep the garden inside a bit cooler and a bit shaded from the hellish sun of the summer like maybe papaya or madras thorn they have delicious fruit maybe even a palo verde you could even plant a prickly pear or a peruvian apple cactus all really good and can survive there
Ahh the challenges of living in the desert 🥴 at least you can get decent soil to work with. I’m in high dry hot 🥵 sandy windy desert in nw Nevada. Seldom get rain ☹️ but have a well. Even have an evap cooler for greenhouse 😆 And shade cloth is a must Your garden is really cute & glad you found some good soil. Have a great day 👵🏻👩🌾❣️
On my moms window, the channel balancer is all the way up on one side when the window is closed. So its not in the window anymore. Does that mean the spring is damaged or broken? We have yet to take the window apart as both her windows are like this, but one still opens while the other doesn't. The one that still opens, however, is a...its a pain, so she doesnt open it except a few inches. She's afraid she wont be able to close it again. I wanna tinker with both windows, but she's apprehensive because she's a fraid we wont be able to put it back together. Lol
I started installing 12 round mesh for HyperAdobe yard retaining walls. My setup is not very good. can you provide a link to the “sand bag mesh” 18” round you purchased? Thank you.
what ever happened with Kyle's hyperadobe home...finally got my property in Arizona in golden valley are you guys close to there hope to hear from yas would love to see kyles finished home !!!!
Here is the playlist of the entire build. ru-vid.com/group/PLW_v9VWGwCM8QO0NnNG9K7JKnc1nooAVD Congrats on your land! We are not close to Golden Valley, we are in Southern Cochise County. 🌞
Coat the aircrete surface with brushable plaster/Paint slurry: Mix up a bit of white cement, water and sodium silicate (2% by weight), Highly reflective (High SRI) and very durable.
I dry sand it... Not an aggressive sanding, just basically polishing with 400 grit 3M. Wet sanding at that stage of the cure is guaranteed to leave noticeable streaking and swirling in the surface. That may be desirable depending on the look you're going for
Amazing that you're controlling the thickness by eye. I've seen tile setters lay a mortar bed by setting a 1x3 metal ground to trowel up to. Have you ever thought of making your own earthen floor tile?
Thanks! He was even better at it when he did our son's earthen floor. Here's a video showing how it turned out.ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-lMOOA__a6b4.html I think earthen tiles would be too brittle. 🙂
if you dont shake the jug of foaming agent it dose not get mixed up so the first couple of batches are great then it gets really bad from there, imho that your result came from not have shaking up the bonding agent jug at all or enough as this is a very common and very avoidable mistake sorry i could not of told you sooner hope you get a chance to try it again like i have showed you God bless
Looks great I found lev60f cells new for 25$ per cell @ 3.2v 74ah looking at 16s 48v more affordable now I can appreciate your time and effort I have not figured out the solar panels for recharging one step at a time lol thanks for sharing ✌️
i'm in the middle of renovating my place, working on the kitchen now. i really want to try concrete, but was also a bit intimidated by the idea. definitely going to give a shot.
You all are amazing! So MUCH, so well done, and in such little time! Have you researched using biochar for soil improvement? I'm in SV, west of you, and have noticed more vigorous plant growth and veg production in the test beds i applied it to last year. Plan to apply to my fruit trees and grapes this year. Looking into producing my own. Great channel!
I thought your video was not too bad... But unfortunately there's a small detail are you overlooked... Aircrete is not meant to be foundation... The strength lies in the shape that it has distribution of the walls and the rebar you are missing a lot of rebar
It was going to be well supported, with a metal frame and other reinforcements. We thought about using it for the floor, but definitely not for the foundation. We were testing the material itself and our ability to make consistent batches. The long term durability seemed too questionable.
Very curious what exact tongue oil you were using, what wax, and what polishing stone grit? (I have to redo mine, the concrete countertop solutions products I used are not holding up). Thank you!
The stoning was done before the concrete was fully cured, and again when applying the first coat of tung oil. For the stoning, he used a basic knife sharpening stone from Harbor Freight. He used "Real Milk Paint" Pure Tung Oil mixed with 1/4 citrus solvent. The wax we used is Howard food grade wax with beeswax, carnauba wax, and mineral oil. It's a soft wax that doesn't harden. The first 4 minutes of our most recent video shows some maintenance to the countertop. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-crNzm6RHRWQ.htmlsi=MlrqwKPb42Fo3Tgd Best wishes! 🙂
Thanks for all the valuable info. I’m using aircrete for insulation. Having difficulty increasing foam weight to 2 oz per qt, tried 20,30 and 50 psi with Drexel at 2 oz per gal any tips would be much appreciated
Thank you so much, was a 15 minute fix once I watched the video. I had no idea what those hooks were for. My friend said he paid $80 for a window guy to come out and fix the same issue…and it took the window guy less than 10 minutes.
