Forget that fact he had 51 buckets and 11 boards. He had no turnovers. That is incredible.

@5:26 English with a handcheck on MJ. Still finishes strong.. kids today thought it's exaggerated.. but wait till you play real ball and the defender puts an arm or a hand to you it changes the way you play.. players today are lucky to have a VIP pass to the basket.

@peterstark4562
@peterstark4562 4 года назад
Exactly. That is why defenders back then can get close enough to the player they're guarding. Its different when you physically feel your defender.

Worse, not only they have a VIP pass to the basket, star players like lebron and harden often initiates the contact and referees still call it a blocking foul 🤦

This game is two months before he won his second ring. No load management. His jumper helped him get 51 without a so-called stepback that looks like a travel. The Claw and The Beard could learn something here. Kobe did. He learned the footwork on the floor and the work ethic off the floor. Hmmmm

Jordan never had competition - but Detroit... an entire team was Jordan's competition, not a person... then the league got rid of the Pistons and Jordan just toyed with everyone .... Sick thing about #23 is his opponents wanted him to win - they bowed down willing and wanting Jordan to fine them so they can keep them checks going on.... the 90's basketball Jordan era was just like playing the same CD over and over again... sad and no creativity.

@42brownbomber Yeah... I was referring to who Jordan actually played against at the highest level (championship level - Conference Finals/NBA Finals). Now when you look at Ewing, remember, when Jordan was 'learning' how to win and won (1988-1991) Ewing was either not making the playoffs or getting beaten in the first or second round. Reggie Miller just learned how to compete in 1994 when Jordan retired, although he was a first-time all-star in 1990. Jordan never faced Hakeem and really defeated Drexler, who was a choke-artist in the 1990 Finals and in the 1990-91 season and then Barkley who could not get out of the first-second round. Remember, all of those 'stars' in the HOF like Ewing, Miller, Barkley, Stockton-Malone... during the 80's, late 80's and up until like 1992, they could not get out of the first/second round so they were NOT mentally at a championship level... that's why I said Jordan's only competition was Detroit. Magic could never beat Jordan in a series because by 1991 the Lakers got rid of Michael Cooper (who could play PG and guard Jordan at the 2G spot) and Kareem had retired but Michael Cooper would take pressure off of Magic to be perfect, which is why the Bulls had an advantage in 1991 and wore Magic down and the Lakers couldn't run their offense. See?
@plainsimple244
@plainsimple244 4 года назад
@42brownbomber Please hear me when I say this: Forget the media, marketing, and actual promotion of the league.... When it comes down to it, it's about rings and titles and how you perform at the highest level on the biggest stage... none of those opponents outside of Detroit could handle Jordan - the record proves it. I'm not saying Jordan wasn't "great" or trying to diminish him at all... I'm a Pistons fan so Jordan doesn't impress me because WE know that without the league marketing him and promoting him at 'that level' when it came to championships - basketball-wise, he was NOT on that championship level without the league helping him and injuries to Isiah Thomas and the rest of that squad along with the Pistons breaking up that team... that's just a fact. You don't have to argue, just look at Jordan vs. Detroit from 1988-1990 and then ask yourself why on earth or how did Isiah get hurt in 1991 and why the NBA changed the rules for the 1990-91 season and why Chuck Daly got that Olympic coaching job during that time etc.. etc... etc... I could go on and on..... The point I was making is that guys who were coming and came into the league from like 1984-1990 and after who were 'franchise' players that teams built around were NOT on a championship level at all, under any circumstance... so when Jordan worked his way up to be a Conference Finalist to even try and compete - his only barrier was Detroit... nobody else... once the Pistons broke up that team, it was all Jordan, Jordan, and more Jordan and nobody could stop him... remember, he was selling like crazy prior to winning a title but once he won (and Magic doesn't mind, he'll do anything as long as it makes business grow), there was zero competition because the Pistons had broken up their team and guys like Barkley, Ewing, Reggie Miller, Stockton/Malone were lovable losers... but they were losers, make no mistake about it... just because they are in the HOF and have great jobs and lauded by TNT and coaches, doesn't mean they were winners.

Plain Simple You calling Ewing/Barkley/Malone/Stockton/Miller etc. “lovable losers” discredits everything you said in that long ass paragraph you wrote. I’m 22 years old and can tell you MJ had competition in the 90’s. Stop talking about the breaking up of the 90’s pistons acting like that’s the reason he made it to the finals and then he had no one else to go through. I don’t care if you lived through that era, I have plenty of games/interviews of teams and players telling the world how Michael Jordan was torching the league when it was stacked. You can argue the 80’s were stacked better than the 90’s but nonetheless Michael and the Bulls had no easy route to any of their 6 finals.
