Description: Health anxiety relief is possible, very possible. Many times when health a anxiety sufferers stop telling themselves the same debilitating story, health anxiety relief can be managed and conquered. The fear of the symptoms of anxiety lessens due to being desensitized by the fears that were keeping them alive in the past.
Losing interest in those fearful feelings people with health anxiety have takes patience, and a deep understanding. An understanding that goes beyond hoping for a miracle solution, which doesn't exist. habits become ingrained into a health anxiety suffer due to consistently practicing a certain way of thinking, what to believe, and actions that follow this pattern.
Health Anxiety Relief Starts With The Willingness To Become Knowledgeable, And The Willingness To Change.
There are always three Stages/Waves a person with health anxiety experience in the moment:
1) The recognition of a feeling - an awareness of the sensations
2) Second is the curiosity about what it is and why it manifested - Bewilderment, confusion,
3) What must I do right now to make it go away - determination, to fight, to run from
Understanding these waves as well as this powerful video on health anxiety relief will go a long way towards your natural recovery from health anxiety.

Dennis, something FANTASTIC happened!!! I believe YOU were the one that helped me raise the bar! I'm highly symptomatic and terribly agoraphobic! I know you have heard of "Flooding", a complete immersion into the feared place (or thing). I was going to just walk around my apartment building. But, I told myself to push the boundaries!! I FLOODED by going all the way to the grocery, getting every item on the list, checkout, and head home. I DID IT!! I ALSO STOPPED TO TAKE A PICTURE OF A TREE!! I audio recorded my adventure and plan to do daily "flooding" head on, learning to tame my emotions, accept my symptoms, AND BECOME A WARRIOR!!! Dennis, THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!!! WOW!!!!!!

I have good days and not so good days. On good days I feel like I can handle any anxiety that comes my way, I'm like "bring it on". Some other days I get tricked by it yet again, no matter how many times It has come up It tricks me into thinking this time is different no matter how many times I've been thru this. I keep up the gradual exposure to fear, and then keep reminding myself that I must not oppose, reject, or avoid the feeling. If I don't do well this time, I just tell myself there is always another opportunity to do better next time to react with a new belief, and that belief is that it is not dangerous, it is just discomfort and that is okay.

Rule number one...do NOT google your symptoms! For the love of god. It is so tempting but I’ve learned, googling your symptoms is the worst idea. If you’re having symptoms that you really are concerned, call your primary. Get evaluated and then if everything is fine (which I bet it is) you’ll have your peace of mind. But do not look it up. I’ve made so many self diagnoses and then obsessed over so many made up illnesses I never had. And usually, what my symptoms turned out to be were usually something I never even thought of or the last thing I expected that wasn’t nearly as dangerous as what I expected. People with health anxiety self diagnose obsessively. You are not a doctor.

Was freaking out earlier this evening about some annoying symptoms I'm dealing with. As soon as I started googling the symptoms my anxiety spiraled causing a panic attack and I started imagining other symptoms. Watching this video makes me feel so much better, even if I do have a disease or something (which I probably don't) not having a victim mentality makes all the difference.

I totally agree! I realized one day a few years ago that if I was powerful enough to manifest ACTUAL physical symptoms out of my imagination, then rather this being a total curse, what if we're master and natural manifestors? I try to focus now on how I can manifest health and calm and peace. It's not always easy though, but I think those of us with health anxiety and high sensitivity are really often gifted it's just we're not taught to recognize it or use it in positive ways.

You are so right to about not being able to heal when you wallow to much in your pain. I learned this while healing from Narc abuse, which I’m still healing from, but I’ve made huge strides since this dawned on me. For yrs, all I did for hours in a day, was watch videos on narcissism. I literally got to the point where I was addicted. I was wallowing in the negativity, replaying the scenarios in my mind. I could not let it go. Finally one day I decided to stop watching the videos so much. I was able to start focusing on my passions once again. I began to reconnect with parts of my soul I hadn’t seen in yrs. to this day now I rarely watch those videos. Usually only once in a while when I just want to comment and share my knowledge, but I don’t do it anymore to simply hear about narcissism. I’ve already learned about it enough to probably have a PhD in it. Don’t get me wrong, it has its time and place, especially when the pain is raw and you need to learn about what you went through. But at some point, you have to let go of the pain.

Having been to Tony Robbins UPW event, I unfortunately did NOT address this issue because i wasn't feeling "it" at the time... So I chose to ignore it and focus on other issues. This was obviously a HUGE mistake. I've had this for almost 40 years (since i was 7 years old).. I can't ignore it anymore.. I know I am a warrior. I know I am an outstanding voice for change.. I've already exhibited this to myself and countless others I have helped... However, when something minor happens within my body, it completely derails me and robs me of being the person i know i am.... in fact... Today is the first day in 40 years that I am proclaiming and admitting to myself and others that I do have health anxiety... This is tough to do because I've always been viewed at and looked up to as the superman who can fix anything and there's such a societal stigma around the word "anxiety" that i didn't want to believe this superman could EVER be a victim.... Today is the day that I acknowledge that this is an ongoing issue and ignoring it simply will not make it vanish and emotional illnesses are fed exponentially by isolation.. So I am reaching out... The roller coaster ride of feeling like a warrior one month and feeling like a beaten puppy who's convinced he's dying the next has to stop.... Now..

The last two weeks have been the worst really for my anxiety but someone let me know it could be because of the full moon, or the tremors earth quakes our island is having. So nuts. I said to myself in 2016 I would focus on myself and my anxiety wouldn't take over and the total opposite happened!

Dennis, this was SUPER AWESOME!!! GOLD STARS ACROSS THE BOARD!!! I succumbed to an emotional crash and I was ALL victim!! But, listening to this lifted me up and I began to see, even a little bit, that I CAN become the warrior I want to be! Well meaning doctors have NO CLUE as to what a person with an anxiety disorder is suffering from. So, I felt lost trying to find a therapist who "gets it". THEY DON'T!! I wish I could afford you as my one on one, but no money equals no one on one. Thanks for all the videos and podcasts!! My tools for sure!! I suffer extreme skin burning (parasthesia) all over my body. I cry through the pain. But, I need to not focus on it either! I need to put on my "Warrior Suit", change my reactions, emotions, and thoughts, and see what is the underlying factor! Maybe my reactions are the fuel that keeps the painful parasthesias alive!! Thanks, Dennis!

Hi Dennis, I have suffered with extreme vertigo and head pressure for ten years now and its getting worse. All tests come up negetive. It is hard to believe that it is just anxiety because its so bad somedays i can barley walk. I am a full time web developer/youtuber so luckily working is not too bad because i can take a break whenever i want. My question is do you think this could just be anxiety also do you think it is possible to take my mind off something like this that bothers me so much? Even if it affects my balance? I dwell on it all day
@TheAnxietyGuy1
@TheAnxietyGuy1 7 лет назад
Traversy Media I think the last sentence in that comment is important, when you dwell on it so much. The truth is emotional fatigue is something common with anxiety sufferers. This can cause many of the symptoms you experience. It's important that at this stage you also begin learning how to speak the language of your mind that is reacting with anxiety. This means thoughts and images. Altering both and using the shift to prove to your mind that it's safe to go form anxious to empowered. I go much deeper into this through the end the anxiety program: anxietyexit.com/my-program/

Thank you so much Dennis I completely agree with you I'm 60 this year and have had I think a good life I am a o donovan my ansesters were true warriors my father he was a beautiful human man he lived with integrity peace and love in all he done but he was a mighty man and feared nothing and was so laid back in every thing he done because he was truly happy and content all his 86 years of life but then there was my mother and she was again a beautiful woman and lived in love and ANXIETY CHRONIC everything was a worry to mum the only time I think she really relaxed is when she was in bed at 9 pm reading her Agatha Christie books lol she had panic attacks from eyes open till bed it was so sad to watch her fretting every day my dad never judged her only comforted her she was always scared of dieing and in the end died riddled with cancer at only 66 i was broken by her death I am in my 60 year now and lost my partner of 20 years 9 years ago everything stopped plus I slipped and 2 disc fell out my spin so painkillers and anti depressants and sleepers had been running me on auto pilote for years never venturing out much but 2 years ago I could take no more so I stopped PRAYING TO A GODS THATS NOT EVEN THERE FOR HELP and started to exercise and eat healthy and doing the right things but most of all LOVE MYSELF AGAIN and beating to my own drum again i live in the moment in the day im not taking all the medication but my emotions do bubble up every day and because iv got a twisted bowl I do get pain everyday but I'm not going to let that stop me anymore as there is nothing wrong with that it's not going to to kill me all tests ok but the stress will like it did mum is there a routine I can do to over ride the pain signals I can't walk un aided but I can get out and get on my scotter I live by the sea which is lovely I guess I want to no can you keep a positive brain when in pain and how can I stop my mind from going like a ping pong ball when I'm alone and stop a spontaneous little blip grow into a proper big panic attack nip it in the bud so to say I no your a busy man but if you can direct me to one of your videos about nipping a panic attack in the bid I'd be very grateful, good on you Dennis one love keyna

Hi, I'm really trying to get through really bad health anxiety at the moment and find your videos so helpful. I know this sounds ridiculous but I couldn't actually get past the advert about oncology :( I'm going to give it another go in a bit but I thought you should know as maybe there is a way of making sure illness related ads don't come up before your videos? There might not be in which case it's just something I (and others) just need to see as yet another hurdle to get over. All the best and looking forward to watching the video in a bit and taking on board your strategies and just getting through this thing. Thanks!!

Dennis, thanks for your videos. I'm sorry you suffered from health anxiety but very thankful you explain many points about it. I had a question... Do you guys get pressure in your head ( nasal, eyes and forehead area)? I was with my cousins today and they were talking a lot all of a sudden I started getting the pressure/anxious. Any one with answers thanks in advance.

Can you please do one on Anxiety and overeating?? After a year of back to back illnesses, I decided to change my lifestyle. Joined a gym and changed my eating habits. I lost a great deal of weight. However, my anxiety became so bad, that my only choices was to use food to cope, or have debilitating anxiety. Two therapists did nothing for me, and the nurse suggested I find you. You have helped me tremendously. I just need help with Anxiety eating. I am going to book a session with you as soon as I can. Thank You.

Dennis, I used to have chest pain from stress after someone died. When I went to a doctor they said it was stressed. I then got headaches which people said was from pressure since its winter time and I worried about them and I thought I had a aneurysm or my brain is swelling. I went to 3 doctors and they did these tests but not any scans. They said it’s all anxiety. When I bend over my head hurts and I still have headaches and when I press down on my head I feel like my nose is going to bleed. Can you please respond.

RedDawg06 Xxx It's truly a subconscious problem and one where many people don't recognize the importance of not only changing their mental processes, but their physiological ones too. I remember a time where I truly wanted to accomplish a goal, I stuck to a strategy and I got it. The way my body, posture, breathing habits looked in that moment was enough to deflect any fears that came my way. The body and mind are one, feel and look the part, it's important.

I also feel like everything is fake but i noticed that only happens when I’m having panic attacks and under lots of stress.

I agree with what you say but it's so hard. My anxiety had been almost gone the last few months. Then lately I noticed I'd been getting light headed alot. Started when going from sitting to standing but now I even get it when sitting. Head feels fuzzy/swimming quite often. Its so easy to fall into the what ifs and really I dont think it can be my anxiety - light headedness is caused by lack of blood flow to the head. Now the health anxiety is back in full force afraid I have a heart problem all over again and it's stopping my blood getting to my head. And to me this isnt an irrational thought, it seems logical because of my symptoms

The thing about power is very enlightening because it's true. Just imagine, if we put the same amount of energy we do into health anxiety into something more productive and positive, then just think...wow! Cause it takes a hell of a lot of brain power and focus to create the fears and sensations etc that we do. A truly huge amount.

hey Dennis, I suffer from very high anxiety myself for 18 years I was on ativan then they told me that I had to be taken off of it and they put me on anti-depressants but the antidepressants don't work as good as the Ativan did. I deal with the high heart rate the blood pressure burning sensation underneath the skin including being dizzy and ringing of the ears racing thoughts plus I just had my ears cleaned out and the doctor said it's all clear now yet I still worry about it so I understand this to be anxiety for a while I thought it was Meniere's disease but then I look up anxiety attacks these symptoms are pretty much the same almost so I have learnt to understand that anxiety is very serious disease thank you for all your videos although I'm a newcomer you made quite an impression on me

But what if you got a diagnosis or test results came back positive but still not sure what the root cause is, and you wake up in the middle of the night with symptoms. How would you tackle the situation then? My own thoughts in that particular moment usually is "How come I an't find the root cause?! I want control over the situation so it doesnt get worse!, this is so scary" etc etc. Thank you.

Okay, but I'm convinced that I've had 2 heart attacks in my life and that a 3rd and fatal one is right around the corner. Doctors have done tests and that's reassured me for maybe a couple of days, but the fear always comes back. I know for a fact that I have heart disease and that I'm going to die soon, and I've been positive about this ever since I've been a kid. Nothing in this or any video has reassured me that I'm healthy and I'm very afraid that nothing ever will. Yes I've also been in therapy, gotten pretty much every self-help book ever made, and there's nothing left for me. I'm really just hoping I get to the point where I want to die so badly that I'm not afraid of death anymore, and that I'd actually look forward to a heart attack. Then finally maybe my health anxiety would go away.

So even if you have health anxiety because you have, for example: terminal cancer, would you say this video still applies? I have questionable health issues and does cause me anxiety but I agree anxiety only make things worse, just wondering what you would say to some one who actually has real health issues that cause them anxiety.

Hi Dennis, I listen to your podcast and they are helpful, I am doing things out of my comfort zone but still struggle..... even when I have good sleep.... I still ruminate over why did this happen to me....Even with health anxiety I was a joyful person just 5 months ago

Sheeba Naqvi As long as a sufferer associates themselves with being anxiety, and carrying that label around with them, change becomes difficult. The quicker we can understand that our anxious behaviours are just things we do and not who we are as a person, the less tension we hold and faster we can replace those old habits.

When you talk about deeper issues, I think of my own fears relating to sexually transmitted diseases and stuff, and sometimes I feel it's not just my health anxiety, but also the kind of sexual shame and guilt that was put into me with my upbringing, and which I myself might unconsciously keep reinforcing over and over. It's so hard to live like this because I'm twenty one and I'm scared of even kissing a person thinking I may pick up some kind of infection.

Gail Pinto Many of the fears we're faced with today that grow into ruminating anxiety starts between the ages of 0 and 10. Those core beliefs manifest in different ways in our adulthood. Reframing is a good way to look at the old In a new light.

Hello Dennis! I've started watching your videos recently and they motivate me and help me a lot. Been struggling with many "disorders", and one big of them is Health Anxiety. From other programs i've worked with, i heard that the more i get exposed to the triggers of my anxiety and face them for the longer time, the less it will hurt me (because i will get used to it eventually). But in this video, at the last part, you said we should stay away from what makes us anxious. That made me a bit confused.. may i ask which way seems the most effective? Thank you.

Bunnies 'N Bunz Bunz The key to desensitization is to break the pattern of giving respect to your anxious thoughts, to challenge them when they appear (I like to use the image of Daffy Duck as your subconscious mind), and to confront the core beliefs we hold within us. We condition ourselves to respect the fear and doubts and have coping methods when they appear, so these must be replaced with behaviours that don't allow the waves of fear to continue. In my program I expand on the idea of systematic desensitization and behavioural therapy, two important elements of CBT that can help a health anxiety sufferer.
