Hello Jackie. I'm French and I've been coming to Panama regularly for five years, as I have my nephew who lives near Boquété. In a year I will be retired and I will apply for my Jubilados visa. But above all, I wanted to say a thousand thanks to you because I really appreciate your wonderful video and that of the expatriates. your advice is really very practical and full of common sense and experience. Continue to keep us informed and thank you again for everything. Bruno

Hi Jackie, 1st thanks for continuing with the great content. A video suggestion, would like to hear from Ex-pats who rent Panama property via VRBO vs. Air BNB vs. other platforms, thank You for considering it!

airbnb or vrbo is only good for short term rentals - less than 3 months. They are way too expensive for a long term rental

@@PanamaRelocationTours to clarify I'm asking about a video showing those expats who have successfully relocated but use their new Panama property to make extra money by renting to others via VRBO / AirBNB etc , I was shocked to see how much those go for in the USA (almost $5k or more for a temporary month long rental), seems like a great way to make extra cash flow

I would be more than willing to pay for medical in Panama. Prevention from injuries by moving to Panama is a great thing. No slipping and hitting the ice. Good temperatures, clean air and a relaxed lifestyle will be the best for your health. In Ontario you can wait over 6 hours. Now many emergency departments at hospitals are closed due to staff shortages and poor govt. management. Healthcare in Ontario is broken

@valm.5243 Год назад
Here in Canada, after being triaged, a real emergency would be rushed in as the top priority and not left waiting 6-9 hours. Since COVID, with the resignation and retirement of many healthcare personnel, and people's insatiable desire here for medical attention, mostly due anxiety and hypochondria, we have backlogs. Free unlimited healthcare is the problem. Whenever something is free with no limits, human nature is to use and abuse it. Healthcare is broken here because it's the only developed country that allows completely free unlimited healthcare. People go to the doctor or the ER for the littlest things and that creates backlogs. People have become so entitled and demanding that has further created more early healthcare personnel resignations and retirements If only, politicians would focus on the real problem, unlimited free healthcare in a system with limitations and enforce a copay, people would be wiser about their choices to seek medical attention. In Panama, people pay something whether its $5 (public) or $100 (private), so that prevents over use and abuse of healthcare resources like what happens here. You can't compare a system where patients are responsible for at least some cost versus not at all. Free healthcare is great idea theoretically but it needs some limits.

Jackie - Hi! I'm 74, living in San Miguel De Allende and considering Boquete or alto Boquete as possible relocation sites. While I have Medicare B in the US, I receive no benefits outside the US currently (There is a bill recommending inclusion, but TBD). I'm concerned about getting insurance in Panama to cover emergency surgery, accidents, etc. Day to day medical can be covered out of pocket (like in SMA). What would be the best way to proceed regarding medical options? I'm also interested in a private tour to get questions answered while visiting Boquete / Alto Boquete in the coming months. Pls advise...Thx ER

so for a company like FAMILY MEDICAL who have an age limit on their policies...if i am under 75 when I get the insurance, its not like they will kick me off the policy when I turn 75, they just won't write any NEW policies after that correct?

If you get a new policy before age 75, they will continue to insure you as long as you pay the monthly or annual premium. They do not kick you out when you turn 75.

My medication here in the USA costs $15,000.00 per month, it is called Rinvoq for Rheumatoid Arthritis of which there is no generic. I pay $5 for it in the USA through my insurance. I just checked MAPFRE. (28.09.2023) Basic plans only available until 59 years 11 months. Silver plan, Panama & Central America is $293 a month for 60-64 years. That’s $3,600 a year. Numbers are from the MAPFRE PDF files. Not one plan is $1xx a monthly!

Family Medical Plan (through PanAmerican) insurance is $102 per month for a 65 year old. They insure up to age 74. See the brochure in this article. panamarelocationtours.com/health-insurance-options-in-panama
@holgermessner851
@holgermessner851 11 месяцев назад
Well. The brochure shows : "12 months after the policy goes into effect. $500.00 copayment and 30% of the eligible expenses. Semi-private room is covered maximum 20 days including ICU stay. " So actually 1st year no coverage. For most parts of the policy. On top, $3,500 must be paid every year out of pocket. That is not a insurance. That is a rip off for most people who would see a hospital if they really have to. $3,500 + 12x$ 102 = $4,724 each year out of the person's wallet. Every year! Do I am missing something? 😮
