Making dog treats is a great way to not only save money, but, provide a healthy treat that you know exactly what it is made from! In this video I dehydrate some steak, chicken breasts, chicken gizzards & hears & livers, and lamb (well, I did the lamb later, due to my machine getting full).

You know what I love most about homemade dog treats? Let's say you marketed them and sold them at a retail store. There would be only one ingredient on the bag. "Chicken Liver Treats", ingredients....chicken liver "Beef Jerky Treats", ingredients....beef etc. For my fur babies, only the most natural will do. Thanks for posting.

Your dogs are adorable ..... Thank you for making this I'm always looking for more natural treats for my own dogs as well it's hard to know what companies to trust anymore when every time you turn around there's a recall or something worse going on . I hope you make more like this ..... I also saw the comment below about your gf sending love and prayers to you all

Definitely gonna make these for my dog. She loves stuff like this and I could probably bury some of the treats in snow to get her sniffer working more since they’ve probably got a stronger smell than other treats.

I got a dehydrator for christmas and I've been making so much jerky for my pup, her favorites are calf liver and chicken breast Edit: I use the backside of a knife to flatten out the livers, helps a lot with the dehydrating process

You have taught Jack well to not steal food. A lot of dogs remain independent when it comes to that and always try to get any food they can. Lol. Also glad to hear you and your fiancee are doing well.

Come to find out, literally all dog treats have some sort of sugar added in them. They use it as a preservative, and to flavor it so they can't taste all the other crap they put in them. Which we all know, sugar is a big no-no for dogs. All the more reason to make your own treats. Thanks so much for the video!

That is so awesome. I have a dehydrator that I have never used. I don't know why but you have now convinced me to give it a go. Your dogs are so adorable. Healthier - easy and so much more inexpensive - I will be making these for my dog- but I will be cutting smaller pieces as my older dog can’t chew very well due to tooth loss- thanks for the video!!

We make deer jerky for ourselves. Delicious! And z can control salt content. We just use liquid smoke.

No problem! This works great with basically any meat, and some veggies. Cut slices of chicken, steak, sweet potatoes, almost anything!

i've been making these dehydrated meats for about 5 years now and my dog (Labradoodle) loves them. Not much clean-up as with baking cookie type treats with dough, ovens, rolling pins, batter and cookie sheets etc. I just don't trust factory made dog food and treats to be pure considering the bad stories coming out of tainted, factory dog food and treats. I call that process "Conveyor Belt Nutrition."

Brilliant ! I do got a blue healer and she’s picky on what she eats .. now I’m reluctant or hesitant to feed her the treats I usually buy her and jus learned that it’s not healthy or some have been recalled … hope this works …

UPDATE: I made these yesterday and my 16-week-old mini schnoodle puppy loves them! I made the beef (I used round steak that was pre-cut for stir-fry recipes) and chicken breasts. Today, I am dehydrating chicken feet. They are supposed to take 24 hours. After searching and searching for healthy, digestible chewy treats for my puppy, I am so glad to discover that I can make my own! Thank you again!

My Rosie was just diagnosed as diabetic. Everything dog vitsmins and supplements and treats have SUGAR. I bought a dehydrator. I will be trying this soon.

For sure try it! Every dog I have given one to loves them! Super healthy (one ingredient)! I suggest storing them in the freezer if you make a lot; they can last for 1+ years in there. In the fridge, they can also last many months to a year. On the counter, a few weeks. Now, this also depends how dry you get them. If you just leave them in the machine forever and fully dry them, they will be a bit more 'shelf stable'. But, I prefer them to be dry, but, not falling apart.

I leave moisture in my treats because it takes them longer to eat. When they are crispy my dogs eat them in two seconds and have trouble pooping. Dogs salivate when they chew just like humans and this helps us both to digest our food. Keep plenty of water near as well.

OK I got some of this.. For my first try. I did credit you on video I posted. (I dont know how to do that but i did say your name.) My first go so be gentle!! Chop meat, gizzard , livers, sweet potato , carrots, rice, eggs. That's all I had at the moment. 🤣 I will let you know how it went. Or go look at my video. See what I did wrong. 😨

Wow, that’s long. I do beef in 3 hours easily. Dehydrators seem to take longer. I have a small oven that goes down to 150 and is a convection. It’s way faster than a dehydrator and works amazing.

Yeah it takes a while. Depends how thick things are. Luckily it is hard to over dehydrate them. So, just set it and check it later in the day.

I wish I could find more organ meat in the area I'm in! Its so good for dogs and its going to great use that way! If I'm lucky im able to find liver in my supermarket but its a little gross to prepare lol but so worth it for my dogs 😂 great video! 👍

Thank you for the video. Where I live we don't have those cuts of meat, maybe because in the province of Québec they use that for making Pogos (in the province of Québec people on the "bien-être social" like Pogos a heck of a lot). Or maybe I don't look enough.

Yeah... they dont last two weeks at my house. 😂🤣😂😜 I do mostly chicken. Will give the others a try. My guys also like sweet potatoes... either raw or dehydrated.

@@Truther567 well, I discovered sweet potatoes bc my dog found a raw one and inhaled it... whole, so raw is the easiest. I have blanched them and then dehydrated in order to make more shelf stable treats. They like those as well.

eipritchett , that’s amazing. I’m asking because my dog just had surgery and was constipated and I was told to give her sweet potatoes out of a can. She wouldn’t eat it so I put it in a syringe and force fed her. It worked. I’ll try the raw. I’m also getting a dehydrator for Christmas so will give that a try too. Thanks for your response back.

@@Truther567 for my old dog, I mix a can oh pumpkin puree (or u could mash sweet potatoes) with pureed cooked chicke (u could use canned dog food) and stuff it into a cow hoof, hes really picky, but he eats that 🤣
