"Should I stop having rotis?"
We've all thought about this one time or another. Especially if you're starting on your fitness journey -owing to the bad rep carbs have gotten over the years!
And of course, we've all heard and read in articles that millets like Bajra, Jowar and Amaranth
(Rajgira) are apparently healthier than wheat atta.
So what is the difference between these attas?
Does switching even help?
And which roti should you eat if you're trying to switch to healthier options?
We'll answer these questions in todays video of TWTA.

Sir I've Nutrition as one of my subjects, and according to that 'wheat' comes under complex carbohydrates as its a type of non-starch polysaccharide, so I think you got it wrong here as chapatis do have soluble fibre in them. Please share your opinion back.

Information regarding protein content in Amranth is absolutely wrong. 100 gm of Amranth has about 3.8gm protein whereas 100gm of wheat has about 13.2gm protein (although the calorie count is also much lower in amranth, but since in this video we were talking in terms of per 100gm, hence.) .

I break my fast with smoothies around 12pm but can I eat rice and chicken or fish curry in my lunch around 2-2.30 pm, normal roti chawal dinner at 8pm during intermittent fasting??? Bcz in India we mainly eat rice/ roti. So can I get benefit by this?
@TheWholeTruthFoodsYT
@TheWholeTruthFoodsYT 2 года назад
Hey Nibedita, Yes, it is okay to eat the above mentioned foods. Everything in moderation is good, it is important that your are having balanced meals. It depends on what you are optimizing for, if it is weight loss then its important that whatever you eat is below your TDEE (total daily energy expenditure) i.e you need to create a calorie deficit. If you are optimizing for something else then you are good to go.

But rice & wheat falls under complex carbs as they contain fiber. They may rank lower in complex carbs but still a complex carb. Please check your research.

I'm a biochem major and the sheer amount of misleading information in this video made me cringe, I love your products but this has certainly changed my perception of the brand. Simple carbohydrates are monosaccharides and disaccharides like glucose, fructose, sucrose, lactose etc. while complex carbohydrates include oligosaccharides and polysaccharides like oligofructose, inulin, starch, glycogen, dietary fibers etc. Atta/whole wheat flour is a source of complex carbs and despite the fact that maida/refined/all purpose flour is made by removing the nutrient rich germ and bran, even maida is a source of complex carbs since the major carbohydrate found in endosperm of the kernel is starch. Maida has a lower nutritional value and virtually no dietary fiber and since there's no fiber that would have helped in slowing down the digestion of starch into glucose, maida has a higher glycemic index. The major carbohydrate found in rice is also starch, again making it a source of complex carbs. The other things listed in your flowchart - roti, bread, pasta are all sources of complex carbs but could consist of whole or refined grains and that will decide their nutritional value and glycemic index. The nutritional data that you have presented for wheat flour is actually for refined wheat flour, not whole wheat flour/atta. For example, the fiber content in 100 gm of whole wheat flour is actually 39% of the RDI. I'm not sure if you're intentionally trying to mislead people or incapable of simple fact checking and tbh I don't know which one is worse. Millets and pseudocereals like amaranth, quinoa, buckwheat are definitely very healthy but there's no need to demonize a certain food or spread disinformation regarding it. 1 cup (180 grams) of cooked lentils provides 36 grams of carbs. When you subtract the 14 grams of fiber, it yields 22 grams of net carbs. Legumes are a great source of protein and fibre. As long as you keep your macronutrients in check and are getting the recommended daily intake of all the nine essential amino acids, you are perfectly fine on a vegan/vegetarian diet. Look into studies linking animal protein to increased IGF-1 product, elevated TMAO levels, pro inflammatory and potentially carcinogenic heterocyclic amines, dysbiosis etc. Maybe you could benefit from incorporating more plant based protein in your diet instead of making snide remarks and misleading claims. Highly disappointed.
