I watched this video hoping to actually HEAR THEIR GEAR.... too bad, it just seemed like a rushed Rig Rundown. Maxon do make some fantastic pedals though. Once I tried the OD808 I couldn't go back. It's one of those pedals you might not realize the extent of what it's doing until you turn it off. Awesome pedal!!!
one of the ''few'' metalcore like bands that doesn't sound cliche and kinda draws a 80ts thrasher like me in, you know thrashers want to hate on new gen metal but killswitch just sounds to good to hate on. kinda like a 'guilty pleasure''. it's not hate towards modern metal but i think more of a drawn line in a diffrent sound that attracts each. and a big plus with killswitch is that the singing is really good on top, not just some screaming.
Finally, you guys a HEAR THEIR GEAR for KSE! Question: do you know if Adam D still uses the OD808 in the loop of his amp? I tried that out with a Peavey 6505+ at the local Guitar Center and it didn't sound that great in the loop at all.
+snake That's actually a bit of a complex answer. If you're talking about the CP101 Reissue, there is no difference other than color of the red box v. the black box (except Maxon does not make the Red box anymore). If you're talking about a VINTAGE Red CP101 from the 70s, then it is actually a different circuit. I hope this helps.
+ttjejvhx1 They've been using the OD808s for years. We were just stoked that they were using our products. They let us hang and shoot some video. Great guys, great players!
Yeah you can it's pretty useable all the way to 10. It's a subtle increase so to really push the tone you'll usually have it up from 8-10. I had one and ran it with the same settings that Adam D used and the gain was dimed. That's why they eventually moved on to the laney iommi model because the gain structure was more aggressive.
Those amps sucked ass.... when they switched to the Tony Iommi amps their tone got infinitely better I don’t know how they used the ironfarts for so long.
