Not bad for an 89 year old. That means you have an excellent health far surpassing most of your peers. Some people die of heart-related diseases at ages as young as 55. I know it's a little discomforting fact, but you still have to confront aging and its effects.

As a research scientist, I have studied the effects of exercise in depth. Exercise happens to be far better for not only anxiety, but for depression--for more effective than medications for such, with no contraindication (side effects).
@greyhairedphantom4038
@greyhairedphantom4038 Год назад
Four years ago I had my first and only episode of heart failure, thus far. I was in the poorest shape of my life. I have Crohnes disease and due to this have short bowel problems as well. I was for a couple of years very depressed, and stopped exercising altogether. I wasn't looking after my health and in particular, ignored my blood pressure problems. Then around 2.30am I awoke in trouble. I knew immediately I was probably dying. Somehow I drove the short distance to the hospital and with amazing help, survived what should have killed me. After I was mentally and physically in terrible shape. I would tire very easily and as a guide to my mental health, I was calling myself "Dead man walking" I decided to start walking, and began worriedly walking short distances. Gradually I went longer and longer walks, deciding to let my heart tell me what was too much. I can now walk ten kilometres a day easily, no heart pain of any kind. My angina spray last year expired, without being opened from new! I feel really good all round. My last cardiac set of tests show my heart has got a lot stronger than it was! People often ask me what they did to make my heart better. I say they couldn't do anything, it was what I did to my heart, not what my heart was doing to me. I'm trying to make it up to the poor old ticker now!

Good work mate, you don't have to break the four minute mile but try walking at least 15 kilometres at least three times a week. You will get there and get better and better. Don't eat shit food such as KFC Maccy D's etc and avoid refined sugar and cigarettes. Good luck to you and keep going!

I’m 72 years old and have nAtrial fibrillation sleep apnea and my cardiologist told me in the next few years I will need surgery on my aorta. At 72 I feel great. I walk two miles a day five days a week sometimes six and every morning I do a half to 40 minutes stretching. I’ve been retired six years now and as a retired electrician and a man who loves carpentry cabinet and furniture making I can still lift heavy items and can crawl in attics and under houses if I need to without any problems. I’m saying this not to brag but to tell everyone regardless of you age you can do it too. Age is just a number. I understand we all have health issues but exercising and eating healthy is simply a must. Stay healthy 👍

If people have experienced cardiac illness it is great if exercise is guided by the exercise professional on the cardiac team, or if in the UK, by a qualified BACPR instructor. So many good points in the video, particularly like the aspect of listening to your body. The red flags are there for a reason.

I am still getting PVCs and short runs of something which is scary. I exercise regularly but am overweight. I am also having great difficulty with my stomach and with multiple tests have found nothing other than polyps. I am now trying your magnesium idea and eating smaller meals so hopefully this will help. Thank you.

*My Irregular Heart Rhythm Experience:* In the previous few years I found I was experiencing irregular heart rhythm and some very strange beats. It got so bad I felt I was about to die and thought "just get on with it", it was horrible to live with. I had stopped exercising after a badly done hernia repair and a work injury to my lower discs. Anyhow, I ended up seeing a cardiologist and he kindly offered to operate and burn my heart muscle with electrodes! I told him to get lost as this would cause permanent injury to my heart, I'm now so glad I declined his advice. The first thing that I found provided relief was to take a teaspoon of L-Arginine per day, this was very effective but some symptoms remained. Next I supplemented with good Magnesium and also upped my intake of potassium rich foods such as dried apricots and dried tomatoes. I now have no symptoms as long as I keep my magnesium and potassium levels under control. Better than scarring your heart!

FLUID AND ELECTROLYTE BALANCE Electrolytes are minerals in your body that have an electric charge. They are in your blood, urine, tissues, and other body fluids. Electrolytes are important because they help: -- Balance the amount of water in your body -- Balance your body's acid/base (pH) level -- Move nutrients into your cells -- Move wastes out of your cells -- Make sure that your nerves, muscles, the heart, and the brain work the way they should. Sodium, calcium, potassium, chloride, phosphate, and magnesium are all electrolytes. You get them from the foods you eat and the fluids you drink. The levels of electrolytes in your body can become too low or too high.

I did a stress test because I get really tired after working out for only 30mins. Test was normal but I get concerned because I feel short of breath. Will keep exercising to increase my tolerance. I suffer with ANXIETY and PANIC ATTACKS. I pray for this to go away 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼

I'm 69 years old and have biked for 22 years.Roughly for 2 hours every time out.Yet after one wrongly done BP reading she says I should be concerned.I take my own BP everyday at home and my readings dropped 30 points from the office reading.This is a doctor I wish I had after listening to him

Great advice, I just watched it again. Coming up to a year after my MI and 3 stents. I am now walking/jogging most days in the morning up to 12 km. Every other day I am carrying out 30min HIT. I am actually on a 12 week HIT with a youtuber called Heather Robertson a brilliant program. Thanks again for your advice.......;)

I had an ablation that failed after a year. And on various heart meds for atrial fibrillation. What cured it for me was intermittent fasting which I built up to around 18 to 19 hours. And also building up light exercise. It was a total transformation. I wish I knew about intermittent fasting and the healing effects of autophagy years ago.

it has been 4.5 yrs since my stent. this morning my resting heart rate was 63. during the day my heart rate is around 79-80. afer i shoot pool from all the trips around the table (1 trip is 50+ feet) ( 1 game is at minimum 22 trips) plus all the bending and stretching. I usually play 2 frames sometimes 3. I do have friends over 4 days per week and we shoot for 4 hours. My dr says I am doing good. but i think i can do a little more

Thank you for your medical information, deeply appreciate it as it relaxed me and made me understand that I can continue my hobby of walking. I also cycled a lot (my main transport at one time and cycled until 2years ago ). At 77 and femaleI feel fit and enthusiastic so will continue to do this. As for cycling, my cycle is heavy and I feel I won't get it up a hill. But can hire a bike and leave it at another bike station in Cardiff. I live five miles out in a rural area close to the Taff trail, an area conducive for many walks. Including forestry. Again thank you for your inspiring talk.
