CBS edited the song to fit into the broadcast time so there verses missing. You might want to find a video that says “full version”, it’s even more amazing. Nancy Wilson is probably one of the most under rated/appreciated guitarists, she is truly excellent. Ann’s vocals are incredible.
Ann was 62, Nancy was 60 when they did this. Jason had said he would only play if Heart sang. The choir was behind a curtain that was rising as the camera pulled away. This was an event, not a cover.
My favorite react video for this performance. Almost none of the other youtubers who reacted to this knew all the important things: drummer is the son of the original LZ drummer primarily. Almost none of the other reactions acknowledge the insane gorgeousness of the choir at the end. One question though - how did you not cry?
Thanks , it truly is the best cover ever , no one else could do it like Ann Wilson , she killed , with stellar performances all around with the band and choir, and I’m not sure lol
imagine playing one of the most iconic guitar solos in front of the legend who made it happen? That guitarist had to have been nervous as hell. I get choked up every time i see this at the end when Jason looks up.. yes Jason, Dad I am sure is so proud of you! Great reaction.
I’ve watched this several times and just now noticed that at the end the backdrop is clouds and the choir is lined up like a grand stairway. Very cool. They thought of everything.
Number 1 song of all time…period. And Jason Bonham playing his dad’s original drum kit crushes me.Let’s not forget John Paul Jones…he could do it all, too.
Ya know what always gets me is that when people talk about zeppelin they tend to focus solely on Bonham, plant, and page alone. What about John Paul Jones? People don't realize that he arranged most of the music.......... anyways............✌️
I totally agree. I can't get mad though, I think bass players are the most overlooked musicians when it comes to people liking music but not fully understanding it. You can have a song without vocals. You can have a song without a guitar solo. You can have a song without drums. But you cannot have a song without a bass line. That is the foundation for a song. John Paul Jones is well known to me as the other members of Led Zepplin!
Oh to have known what was going thru the minds of Jimmy, John Paul and Robert as they witnessed their epic played so incredibly well, especially with Jason on drums. R.I.P. John
I've watched this a few times and there are different versions going around this missed part of the guitar solo. I don't know why they do that but he does play the full solo. Anytime you make Robert Plant cry you did something right. LZ had invited Jason to sit with them but he told them he was booked that night was a huge surprise !!!
Another great cover by Heart is The Battle Of Evermore..A number of great versions up here..One from 2002 live in Seattle another from 2013 among others. No one has done a reaction up here that I can find on this cover...Cant go wrong either way..
I saw this but the full version for the first time only a few months ago. I heard Jason was using his dad’s drum kit and was wearing his hat. The choir members were all wearing bowler hats to honor John.
My favorite part is Jimmy’s reaction when the screen on the choir lifts and you can read the WOW on his lips!! Amazing when you can wow these legends and bring them to tears with their own song! I never get tired of watching this tribute!
April 8, 1970 - I saw them perform in Dorton Arena, Raleigh, North Carolina. They had released 2 albums at that point. Zep returned for 4 encores and on the 4th, RP said "We don't have anymore songs!" Suggestions from the crowd rang out. The next thing I knew is they said "We'll do Blue Suede Shoes." The Elvis version was the only one I was aware of and I thought it a strange one to choose. But now I understand the whole blues influence. Live and finally learn. The best and my most cherished concert I've ever been to.
I love how they didn’t really cover it as much as make it a true tribute. They know they can not do it better than Led Zeppelin so the make it special and epic in its own right.
Love this cover. I have watched it dozens of times and have seen it analyzed by many. You caught things in the performance that I didn't with the guitar solo, so I enjoyed your running commentary. I can never see this performance without thinking of John Bonham teaching his little boy how to play drums, and you can see the bond between Jason Bonham and Robert Plant as they communicated non-verbally. They didn't even know Jason was going to be there, so having him show up as the drummer was a huge, unexpected surprise for them. I especially enjoyed watching the reaction of the remaining Zep members - mainly Robert Plant almost being moved to tears, and Jimmy Paige watching, evaluating, and visibly enjoying the performance. I can't imagine being Shayne (guitarist, forgot his last name), having to play that iconic solo with the man who originated it, right there. Oh - and the choir was always behind a screen that separated them from the orchestra in front. The "reveal" happens just before their layer is added to the performance. You can see the screen start to be lifted, but the view switches before they can be seen. You can see Paige reacting with a WOW. You really should see the full tribute to Led Zeppelin. Jack Black didn't sing. He did the introduction, and it was funny. Trying to remember who did covers - IIRC, it was Lenny Kravitz, Kid Rock, and I think David Grohl in additoin to Heart. Subscribed.
I have seen this video so many times. I love the orchestra and the choir I think it adds dimension to the performance. Ann's voice is amazing always and she really did a great job, I think my favorite part is towards the end when she is hitting that high note and she has this distortion. It is an amazing performance and it never gets old. Lastly seeing Robert Plant get emotion to the performance speaks volumes.
Jason is playing his dad's drums and wearing his dad's hat, some of the back up singers are wearing copies of John Bonham's hats as well. Much love to you and your family. 💘
You watched the shortened version..There is a full version up here on RU-vid..This shortened version they cut some of the solo and some of the verses Ann was singing..Why 2 versions I don't know..Ann and her sister Nancy are part of the one of the greatest bands ever..Heart..And Ann arguably the greatest female rock singer...And their still doing it...
I think you would like the full version better....they cropped the guitar solo in this. BTW, if you want a laugh, listen to Jack Black give the intro to Led Zeppelin that night....hilarious!
Three other artists perform that night Kid Rock, Lenny Kravitz and The Foo Fighters. Not actually know what songs that they played. In my humble opinion I'm glad that they picked Ann and Nancy Wilson to do Stairway To Heaven. If you watch when the backdrop was raised up that's where they was. This was so amazing put together.
I wish you would have reacted to the full version. The version with the CBS logo on the bottom right is the edited for TV version from CBS. As you could hear, the guitar solo, as well as other areas, were edited...I mean who edits the guitar solo?? Nonetheless, I enjoyed your reaction. 🤘🤘
Great review thank you. Finally someone who knows the original band members AND drummer as this is important when watching this tribute. Kudos to you for providing us with an educated review & comments. It's also worth noting that Jason is using John's original drum kit to play this - how awesome is that? If you're looking to do something a little different, I'd suggest reviewing "Learn to Fly - Foo Fighters Rockin'1000 Official Video", then the reaction to this from Dave Grohl before the eventual outcome video. It's a great 'feel-good' story.
No pressure for the guitarist having to play the guitar solo literally with Jimmy Page watching in the crowd!! lol! To be honest I tune out the orchestra and the backup singers, and just listen to the band. I wonder why they thought they needed them in the first place.... Heart just rocks this song out of the park all on their own.
This never fails to cause chills! For something a little different…try Falling in Reverse-Popular Monster. He goes through about 5-6 genres and KILLS IT!
@@metalmusicmeltdown I have to disagree with Marmalade. I've watched this performance many times. If I watch a reactor, I want to hear what they have to say, not struggle to hear you over the performance. The volume was just right.
Please react to acapella group Pentatonix. As you love Queen (who doesn't) please react to their cover of the most complicated song in Freddie's playbook...Bohemian Rhapsody. THank you
I resisted watching this for a long time. I mean, how dare they, right? But it is undeniably a respectable tribute; whoever did the arrangement did a great job of respecting the original. But, I don't think this is the complete version; did you cut it? And the sound isn't as good as I remember.
Please check out Dave Grohl and Nandi Bushell drum battle,Nandi is a 10 year-old girl from the UK challenged Dave a drum battle she recently played drums with the Foo Fighters on stage at the L A Forum playing drums to Everlong
OMG, you're listening to greatness - can't you be quiet for more than 5 seconds? If you're going to talk about everything, then pause the vid! Sorry, just a little constructive criticism - man it's annoying
@@abbiecorcoran6006i understand your statement, but pause the video while you're talking is kind of rule #1 for reaction mate... whoever, the dude reacting not even talking too much kkkkkkkkkk
