Can't be too choosy about you vintage railway film stars. You take whatever is available. Often in films set in the 19th century, the trains are 1910s or 20s. In any country, operational 19th century rolling stock is very rare & precious (well, to railfans, not to government, who'd rather scrap & burn the lot).

On it's way to back up the GW Panniers in Caithness, but they found it was homesick...Sent it to recover by the sea-side...

Yeah they used the North Yorkshire Moors Railway for Heartbeat and they used Goathland village for Aidensfield

And that tank locomotive seen in this clip is no longer here at the North Yorkshire moors railway as of now and the locomotive is undergoing an overhaul

@@thebrummierailenthusiasts5329 my late granddad was on the footplate of that loco when she was going to Newbridge on her last day on the NYMR

6619 is now at the Kent and East Sussex Railway. I believe there are plans for the loco to return it in GWR Livery, and also to remove the kychap exhaust which was fitted in 2006

Considering the train has been stolen, I doubt the hijackers would very much care about abiding to railway rules.

Maybe on an abandoned branch line. The Beeching Axe was still active around that time, Beeching managed to close down god knows how many branch lines.

They would maybe have thrown it into the sea after reaching Whitby. Joke aside. Think a bit further. Who knows if there weren't a stolen car waiting for them after the train stppped?
