[Hearthstone] Kobolds & Catacombs Review 5 

For people who didn't catch yesterday's stream, Kripp spent 2 hours non-stop reviewing every card in the set while he was coughing his lungs out. He didn't even "hit up the bathroom" until he was done. Would it have been ok if he just waited a bit longer before doing the full review? Yes. But he didn't. Why? Because dedication. People can say what they want about Kripp being salty, or a sellout, but as far as HS content goes, him and Rania are more dedicated and consistent than anyone else. And I guarantee you that regardless if Kripp feels completely well or not on Thursday, he's gonna stream the new set all day for us, just like he always does. If there's a moment to show our appreciation, it's gonna be right then on release day by watching him.

Scorp-o-matic is really good in paladin since paladin has access to aldor peacekeeper and humility , my favourite neutral minion in this expansion by far.

Did Kripp just say Priest doesn't have enough Dragons to work? Who needs a thousand dragons when you have deal 3 to all minions and SECRET AGENT COMING THROUGH!

Shimmering courser being anither silence target works well for paladin, they have a tonne of silence targets already, between the steeds, tirion, both the new legendaries, the coursers and potentially silver vanguard if you want to get your tirion, lightlord or lich king out with that

That 3 drop that summons random 1 drops at the end of your turn sounds pretty good for evo shaman

Hi Kripp, hello from Singapore. love the videos. For your full set review can you also review them for arena since you know arena pretty well?

Upside to astral tiger is that you can recruit it using all the recruit a 4 cost minion cards that druid got. Also since it is a copy of it does it keep buffs placed on it when it is shuffled back in to your deck?

void ripped should have switched the and attack of all minions and been a 3/4 or some asymmetrical stat line.

The darkness might work in dead mans hand warrior, it counters raza priest which is like the one big problem to deal with for dead mans warrior, seems pretty good if you play it when youre almost done with the opponents deck as well, when they're at one card play the darkness and a coldlight and you have a 7 mana 20/20, seems pretty good

Wonder if you play The Darkness with the shaman 1 drop (that triggers battlecries twice) if it then shuffles 6 candles into your enemies deck - significantly increasing the chance to activate The Darkness or ruining their singleton decks even more.

Possible combo's with murmuring elemental. turn 7 double doppleganster, turn 6 double iron chain gang, turn 6 double jade spirit, turn 6 barnes+lich king only minions in the deck. 2 1/1 LK's.

I wonder how Temporus and Murmuring Elemental would interact. Would it add an extra turn to each player or just do nothing kind of like 2 Maiden of the Lake and hero power cost (I know it says set it to one, but I can dream)

How does The Darkness work with the new double battlecry shaman elemental? Will the three candles you draw can be the any three, or it has to be three from the same battlecry?

Master Oakheart into Dragonhatcher/Silver Vanguard into Ysera/Ragnaros seems alright. Voidlord in Warlock or Tar Lord in Warrior also seem pretty good.

If you recruit The Darkness (or otherwise summon it w/o playing it), does it just stay dormant with no hope of ever awaking?

An interesting thing to note on The Darkness is that it forces your opponent not to use their removal until they've drawn all the candles .

I wonder if Potion of Heroism will be added to the Kabal Chemist's random potion list?

Murmuring Elemental (11:50) + The Darkness (32:16) That might be a combo that's viable in a heavy control type shaman. You get 6 candles in your opponents deck (which increases the chance of actually drawing 3 of them in a decent time by A LOT), and while you essentially pay 6 mana to put a 1/1 into play, I think Shaman has enough heals and boardclears to be able to stabilize from that severe tempo loss, at least enough to wait around for the 20/20 that can seal the deal. Thoughts on this?

32:25 4 mana 20/20. It prevents your oppent from drawing his combo + you can silence it or else you could make it to a taunt. Sounds pretty OP in my ears

Master Oakhart 3/3/5 taunt guy, 2/2/6 taunt thing, and some 3-attack card pulled. Also removes those weaker low mana drops from draw potential.

I think in term of card this extension might be better than previous one, in term of fun factor for both player.

I'm gonna enjoy all these new neutral and hunter beasts for my hunter dk

The Woecleaver weapons also works with the 8 mana 7/7 Battlecry: Can't attack face. If that minion is summoned, it will be able to attack!

Master Okaheart summons 1/5 doubble effect of end of turn 2/4 that recruit a dragon at the end of your turn TWICE (scalebane+ysera)and for example 3/6 your hero cant be targeted by spells or hero powers or 3/9 demon in warlock or 3/3 end of turn give 2/2 if you are holding a secret in mage! This card is CRAZY!

@Kripparian Scorp-o-Matic (the 1/2 mech whose battlecry kills a 1 or less attack minion) is something like a dedicated tech against doomsayer. Otherwise we will have an OTK mage epidemic.

if you remove the cost of the rougue legendary weapon will it stay that cost and if you dk the legendary weapon will it have the buffs?

So if you Brann into Murmuring elemental do you get two four or eight battlecries from the next minion?

31:31 what do you mean? What if you're warrior and you have to use shield slam into your own minion to prevent yourself from milling a card? This is exactly where River Crocolisk shines and for this reason I would always put it over Plated Beetle in my warrior decks.

I like the 2 Raza counter cards. Darkness and the one where they can’t target your hero.

I think Gravelsnout will be good especially in Prince Kelesath zoo decks. There are lots of times where zoo is happy to play 3 one drops on turn 3 and if this is one of them you can easily kill off whatever they get out of it and there is very few one drops with 3 atk so even playing it on turn one isnt horrible. It can even give them that unplayable 2/3 that makes your minions cost two more which would completely screw up their turn.

Scorp-o-matic could be used with Alder in Control Paladin instead of Kodo

playing Murmuring Elemental with the DK Thrall seems to be pretty insane if you have a board.

I just thought of a weird combo for the darkness: simulacrum to make multiple of these, increasing the chance of, and value of, your payoff. Still a meme of course, but a little better.

Gemstudded Golem and Ironbark Golem can be use as giant wall to stall enemy. Yes you cannot attack with it until you satisfy the condition. But enemy cannot go around it either. They have to kill these 2 by trade or spell remove. And these 2 are immune to silence because normally taunt minion has less stat than vanilla monster in the same mana cost. But both card have over stat, if they got silence . they still be gigantic minion that can attack freely without down side. And in arena removal are quite rare.

Shifting Scroll is the first Zerus type effect that can't actually be played the turn you draw it. Pretty interesting.

Fungalmancer seems pretty comparable to bonemancer. It's a lot weaker, but the same kind of effect. It'll probably be good in arena.

Dark pact is insane for control warlock. Combined with mistress of mixtures it's a 12 health heal for 2 mana.

My contention about his weapon removal meta is that deck synergy may need to be sacrificed for the sake of weapon removal for some decks. If a Warrior or Rogue is packing a few weapons, including the legendary weapon, than are opponents willing to sacrifice potential synergy of their respective decks for the sake of removing a bunch of Warrior or Rogue weapons?

Sidenote about the killer fist of killing for shaman: Yes 2 mana overload 3 for overkill damage is realy bad. I do agree. *BUT* ... no realy, there is a but, in lategame situations it's a 2 mana "kill Lichking" - reduce your Overload Giants cost by 3. Shaman has decent enough early game removal allready with Malestrom, Lightning Storm and Volcano. Hex is decent, but also a 4 mana spell that gives your enemys a taunt minion. I can honestly see a Elemental mid/lategame shaman using Kalimos + Murmuring + the new leggy for nice burst combos lategame and having two cards that kill lategame minions and recude the giants cost by 6 and can be used in a pintch if you absolutly have to ... sounds at least better then "realy bad" to me. Will Elemental Shaman work? Meh, probably not I recon. Still to slow. All the good / great elementals are to expensive to play more then one a turn so you'll have to rely on good draws to even get there so yeah.

If you pull the Darkness with Y'Shaarj would it come out dorment without the candles from the battlecry..or will you end up with 30/30 stats

Crushing hand is not a 2 drop you won't want it in your hand on turn 2, t's more like a better version of a flamelance 5 mana(not quite) deal 8.
