Yes, it is very oppressive if you're not used to it. I thought I knew what "heat and humidity" was when I lived in the Northeast. After I moved to the Gulf Coast, I discovered real quick that I had no idea how "hot and humid" it could actually be and just how intense the sun could be. I feel bad for y'all up in the Northeast, though. That kind of weather will kill people. Check on your elderly neighbors and family members and keep as cool as you can.
