Hey guys, I just wanted to say thank you for your kind words. I'm still coming to terms with what has happened, so I may not reply to each and every comment as usual. I will be taking some time away from RU-vid for a little while, however I have videos that were recorded at the beginning of August, like this one, that are scheduled to go up. So if I sound happy, cheery, my normal self in those videos, that is why. They upload automatically. It felt weird letting this one go up today, but I didn't want to let anyone down. i'm sure you gave zig an amazing life, she always seemed extremely healthy and happy. I'm sure she enjoyed the time she spent with you. I understand how horrible it is to lose a pet, a few years ago i lost my kitten. he was a year old and we live in a farm area. farmers put poisoned cat food out to kill foxes that harm their chickens. my kitten ate that and got anti freeze poisoning, it wasn't our fault. ziggy passing isn't your fault either, the heatwave has been brutal. you did everything you could to give her a full and happy life. she was too young. my heart and mind stays with you at this time. please mourn, please take your time to get better. she wouldn't want you to be upset. remember her goofy and precious moments you will regret forgetting them. stay safe and take your time. Dont worry my leopard gecko died the first week i had her your not alone but as many leopard geckos you get after ziggy they will not be the same sweet and kind leopard geckos lile ziggy... Ziggy will allways be in our hearts and shes also in a better place now i feel so sad about ziggy and i want to cry but theres sadly nothing we can do about her now 😭😭😭😭

Firstly, so sad to hear about Ziggy. Losing a pet is never easy but I know she had a wonderful life with you. Also, a super-sun mega bulb does exist! My vet recommended the ZooMed PowerSun UV bulb for my Diego. It's expensive and has to be replaced each year, but it comes in 3 different wattages, does UVA, UVB, and emits a LOT of heat all from one bulb. The downside is it's not compatible with dimmable fixtures so a thermostat can't be used, but compared to the heat bulbs I was using before, it's been amazing.
YES! I was coming here to say the same! I used to use heatmat and changed at the beginning of this year. Since changing to the ZooMed bulb I have noticed my leopard geckos are more active. I have a 3 yo leopard gecko who is a rescue and changing to this bulb transformed him from a underweight gecko that barely ever ate and never moved to a super active, healthy weight and seemingly happier gecko. I have a few thermometers on each tank and check them regularly to ensure the temperatures are correct. I did have to build sort of a "lamp holder" to make sure I had the correct distance between the gecko and the bulb, but all and all I totally recommend it!
for anybody who missed the post or doesn’t have insta: “ I cannot believe I am making this post, but sadly Ziggy has passed away.🥺 All throughout the day yesterday we were periodically checking the geckos because it was very hot. Ziggy was seemingly fast asleep in her cold hide, nothing out of the ordinary in this heat. It wasn’t til I went to give the geckos fresh water in the evening that I realised she hadn’t moved, still looked peacefully asleep in her hide. I then discovered she had passed. I have absolutely no clue why 😢 I keep thinking what did I do? What did I miss? She’s my youngest Leo, she’s always eating, drinking, going to the toilet, active, alert- as you know I regularly weigh my geckos, I note down every time they eat, what they eat and supplements they have. I just kept screaming “why? I don’t understand!” 😭 This still doesn’t feel real, I thought I had 20+ years with her. I didn’t know how to break this news to you, I am struggling to come to terms with this and I can’t physically speak about it atm. I do however in the future want to make a video or acknowledge this in a video, 1. So anyone who misses this post knows about Zig, and 2. Because though I write, record and edit these video, the geckos are the real stars. My channel started with me getting Ziggy back in 2012 as a 3 week old hatchling, it doesn’t feel right not acknowledging her passing. I am so devastated, this doesn’t feel real. I was always worried about my older gecko because well they’re getting old, I never even thought there was anything wrong with Ziggy 😢. I have videos schedule for the rest of August including one going up today (13th) and 20th (my birthday). Things might get rescheduled but we’ll see. I’m a mess right now so if I don’t reply to comments/questions, please understand. And if you think you can help in the comment section, link a relevant video etc to people, it would be incredibly appreciated. I can’t believe I’m writing this but RIP Ziggy, the queen of splooting, the most gentle huntress, and sweetest little gecko 🥺😓 I don’t know what we’ll do without you.”
So sorry to hear about ziggy . I know what u are going threw as always watched your channels and I got our twilight she died the same way in her cool hide as she loved been in her hide. Its been 3 months and now we have baby storm only 16 weeks now rip ziggy

I have three leopard geckos now thanks to you making me feel able to care for them and I just fell in love with them by watching your channel. I feel like I've lost my own pet in Ziggy, I know you're feeling so torn up right now. Take all the time and care you need to focus on healing and your well being. Ziggy was and is still so loved and cherished and through her and the rest of your geckos, make amazing ambassadors for their species.

I am so sorry for your loss! I just adopted a leopard gecko I renamed Little Foot. He was very neglected and seems very thin. I am learning so much from your Channel. Thank you so much! This isn't relevant, but I feel its necessary. Do you really want that pet? How long does it live? How old will you be? Can you look after it then? Try waiting a week. Do you want it then? A month. Now? Geckos and Birds especially are a long term commitment and I've seen too many be neglected or forgotten.
this!! I've been thinking of getting a gecko for about 2-3 months but I don't want to buy from a petco or breeder because I'd rather adopt a surrendered/older gecko.

Dear Rebecca, I am very sorry for your loss. Don’t feel like you didn’t do anything wrong. You provided her with a very awesome short life. It was not your fault. Losing a pet is very hard and we all what it feels like to loose someone. You take such a great care for your animals and you so caring. You are one of the most responsible people with leopard geckos I know. Ziggy helped many people learn how to take care of them, she was part of that.Wish Ziggy the best in heaven.
Just saw the photo with the message about Ziggy. So sorry for your loss. It's heartbreaking to say goodbye to our beloved pets we've cared for. It is part of life though. I remember you crying after you lost Isla the crested gecko. That was super sad 😥. Thinking of you and sending love all the way from Cape Town, South Africa. Love watching your videos!

I want to give props to you and the other folks that are promoting the use of a wider infrared spectrum. This coming Spring, I am also introducing a nightly temperature drop suitable for the species being kept to see if there is any affect (hopefully positive) to the animal’s well being over time. (Note: I was the biggest skeptic of IR-A and B use for leopard geckos and other mostly non-basking reptiles, but after trying it out for a while, I have become a convert. It does provide choices for the captive.)
RIP Ziggy 😖 but don’t be sad, now she’s in heaven having so much fun and playing with other geckos. I know people say that geckos don’t have the capacity to love, but she definitely loved you. Ziggy is eating and sleeping as much as she wants in heaven now.
Your videos are so helpful, seriously. I want to take the best care I can when I get my lil baby. Your videos are so much better than the small guides at pet stores.

We all miss Ziggy so much. I know what it's like to lose a gecko far before its time for reasons you don't understand. My baby crested died one day and it broke my heart, plus I still don't know why.
