"So now I'm drifting through space forever...that's Heat Signature!" needs to be one of the box quotes. Congratulations on the upcoming move, that's really exciting!
I think the single greatest thing that can happen when demoing a game is when the guy who made the game says "I'm not sure what's going to happen so let's go!" And the game not only does something awesome but doesn't crash.
minch333 Floating Point. Little free game he put out that I have 80+ hours in because I listen to podcasts while playing and it's basically the best spiderman game on the planet.
I still can't believe my eyes when I see these update videos from time to time. I still remember this game at its earliest stages. sooooooo impressed with how far it's come. Can't wait to finally play it one day!
Looks great! love the art style of the different factions and the tools used to take the upper hand on the guards of these ships looks quite fun to use!
Nice one Tom, a lot of people would want to work at valve even if independent so good job! Also HeatSig is shaping up super nicely, been following it since its inception and I've got to say I'm super hyped for it to finally come out!
What a boss game! You should keep the final teleporter working like you just found out it does since that escape solution (if you had thought to detach your ship, as you said) was genius! Congrats on valve too
It looks so fucking cool, I can't wait, Tom! Congrats on the Valve thing, I can't wait to see what you do with the input they give you on Heat Signature and man, Valve seeking your help must be one of the coolest thing on this side of the industry. Good luck and for God's sake, give us Heat Signature already D:
"Oh fuck, did he get shot, oh shit, oh man, the guy with the armour got knocked back, automatically opened the door, and I got shot by the turret" - most Tom Francis thing ever.
is there any way to turn on a fog in the ships so you are unaware of their interior layout upon docking and it is only revealed as you explore? that would add a whole new layer of difficulty...
This looks great! I was, however, a little disappointed when one of the guard's bullets passed through a turret like walking through a wall using no-clip. Will you add some form of environmental collision to the enemies shots?
New friend asks me if I have heard of Teleglitch. I say "Oh yes I have." Based on that statement, I ask him if he's played Gunpoint. After 55 minutes of Gunpoint, I find this game by the same developer... ... and I feel like I've gone full circle. lol Neat. Congrats on working with Valve, btw. It's an interesting area and working with Valve's flat hierarchy should be an experience that will be hard to forget. I'll have to have my friend(s) there hunt you down to say "hey".
this looks passionating. However, will there be some kind of progression system to keep us from getting bored? Like graduately longer and harder missions? Also, are those three teleporters the only kinds? Here is a suggestion for a teleporter: you place a beacon, and when you press the button, it teleports you in symetry to where you were relatively to the beacon first. for example: o (You) x (the beacon) o (your target position)
Sounds like you've got a lot of background noise, so here's a recommendation: try recording your voice with Audacity, and leave about 10 seconds of the recording entirely silent, besides the background noise obviously. Then select that "silent section", use the noise reduction and get a noise profile, and then select the entire project and run the noise reduction function. My recommendations are to reduce the noise by 12 dB, use a sensitivity of 6, and use 3 frequency smoothing bands. If you need an example of how effective this is, in my videos you can hear my voice very clearly, without background noise, despite the fact that I have a fan directly pointed at me and the microphone.
Liquid money could be a new sci-fi concept. [At the fly-by restaurant] "And how much is that for McSpaceNuggets? I'll turn on the taps for 3.99 seconds and then I'll be on my way!"
What are your plans for the UI? Gunpoint does well without much thought on that department, but in this game it seems that it really has to be a big deal.
They want your help with something so assume at those times you'll be working for them? If so don't code Heat Sig during their paid time otherwise, at some point they could start to claims the rights on your game.
Hey Tom, been watching progress on this for a really long time now. Was just wondering, any chance of 21:9 resolution support? For example, 2560x1080 or 3440x1440. Cheers!
Hey Tom, any chance for an option to slow down the player ship movement? It seems like you'd be instantly dead pulling those kinds of Gs and it'd be great to have an option for a slower, more realistic experience. Thanks!
I believe it's going to be a series of stories, so like you spawn with one character and you might complete HIS story, retire him and then get a new one that you get killed with.
Shut Up and Take My Money! Seriously, please let me give you money for this. I really want to play this game ever since I saw Many A True Nerd play a Beta a Year ago!
