This video shares step-by-step how to do a heated floor installation on concrete slab using Strata Heat. We used this system to heat porcelain tile, which gets very cold in the winter.
You'll see the full Strata Heat installation which includes the Strata Heat mat, wire, and thermostat.

Nice Video. TIP: your body has resistance. you can only touch one side of the circuit. this will give you the most accurate reading.

thank you, we wanted this one to be very detailed. Using the right thin-set and trowel are critical and we actually were upset at the poor coverage after using the V-notch trowel recommended in the tech data sheet. Good learning lesson for anyone watching

Are these system designed to heat the room as well? Can you put Vinyl planks of this system?

This looks like an okay system but I think schluter is a better system. I think Schluter has it figured out better by making their own trowel for Ditra heat, thinset, and everything that you need for the installation. And their customer support is excellent. That’s just my opinion. Great video, Steve did an awesome job with the installation.

thank you, and you bring up valid points. Schluter does a good job eliminating confusion by recommending specific materials, although they do drive people nuts with the thin-set.

Have you a done video on setting up and best utilizing the thermostat? Laticrete doesn’t seem to have much on the thermostat.

OK, million dollar questions... Strata Heat or Ditra Heat?? The systems look so similar. Just curious for your opinions as I've seen you guys use both. I could be way off with this observation but, it seems easier to roll out the Ditra compared to laying down individual sheets of the Strata. And.... Orange is one of my favorite colors... Another fantastically informative video, hoping all is well & Dirty Jersey out!!!

thanks man and great question. If the floor needs to be waterproof then Ditra-Heat. Otherwise both systems are comparable. Strata_Heat would require filling the grooves with thin-set then applying Hydro Ban over top to be fully waterproof

@@HomeRepairTutor Ahhh Hah!! Never thought of that. Good deal Bud. Sooo kinda the Ditra saves a step compared to the Strata system. Thanks for prompt reply Bud. Dirty Jersey out again!!

Thanks for the video! The product looks great and easy to use. What is a general cost per sf to do floor heat (product only) and how thick is the heat part counting the sheet and setting it to a concrete floor?

So what do you do if you wanted to put a solid floor on top instead of tile? say, tongue and groove pre-fab wood floors or more unconventionally, in my case, a sheet of stainless steel.

I don’t think your thinset coverage on the underside of the strata heat mat membrane was still not good enough. It looked like only 60% coverage (after you made improvements). Other videos I’ve seen, people are getting 100% coverage. This includes training videos from Laticrete and Schluter for their respective Ditra product

@Cole Bennett geo thermal/infloor heat. Or combi boiler. Not this. You insulate the slab and run the tubing before the pour. This minimal heat for a bathroom.
