violence was such a crazy experience for me as an ultrakill player that it literally changed the whole vibe of ultrakill for me, it literally feels like a different game.
The lore suggests that the mannequins are the people who tried to escape this layer, got lost in the labyrinth and was torn apart by Hell and was reconstructed into the mannequins. All why still alive. Oh and hell got inspired to do this because of the creation of the guttermen. Real dark stuff.
@@hahgotem3886 And even when a mannequin dies you can still hear it breathing. I don't know whether this is an intentional detail or just an oversight but it's horrifying.
@@hahgotem3886 demons in general seem to have a horrifying backstory. a lot of the time it's just the raw "essence" or "mass" of hell shoved into a stone shell. I guess the essence or "mass" of hell is the suffering and sinners.
@@ionisator1 "Uh so we caused a 200 year long war where we build robots running on human blood, and devastated the whole planet for some dumb shit nobody remembers but god is still at fault for it" Bruh.
Favorite detail about this level is how the starting outdoor area (and supposedly other areas) actually have roofs, really ups how bizzare the whole maze is
Honestly, I can't tell if V1 is fucking up the plans of Hell, or if it is being led around by Hell like a puppet on strings and doing exactly what Hell wants of it
isn't hell what respawns V1 when you die? as far as I can tell, V1 is basically hell's favourite toy, the most entertaining machine by far to watch fight
@@s4ty-s4tI thought hell used the machines to kill humanity (which backfired when the machines started killing hell too) but i guess that's not the case. Gabriel's monologue at 6-2 implies the machines are killing everything in hell, so i thought that when V1 was done with all 9 layers, both it and hell would die, since neither of them would have souls to feed off of. But there's the book in 7-4 and the F E E D I T prompt in 7-3 which implies hell actually likes what the machines are doing. Maybe it's a cycle? V1 and the machines kill the souls of hell and then each other, and when it's all done and V1 is the last one left, hell revives everyone then teleports V1 back to the mouth of hell (taking their weapons away too). That would explain why V1 has no weapons and why all the guns are conveniently placed on these pedestals for V1's taking
@@animarthur5297 I don't think hell has any major single concioussness. I don't think that "FEED IT" was said by Hell:tm: but rather a single entity that doesn't realize it's about to be wiped out by a horde of machines in a bit. I don't think hell can magically revive itself, it's implied that once something's soul dies it's just fully fucking gone, so the machines are just outright wiping out all of Hell.
@@Doughboy_Gobbler23depends on what you mean by that. The final passage of the book in 7-1 (about painting the world red) is directed at you, the machine. It is written by some sort of sentient life we kill, so probably the blood puppets you meet later, as the text tells us to spill the blood under the tree of Life, which is exactly what we do
what? it's not calming... it's haunting. it's peaceful... quiet. hell is beginning to realize it's futile to fight back. this is the beginning of the end.
Start of 7-3 almost made me stop playing. Video games unnerve me easily, and having read Dante's Inferno, I knew what was going to happen, but still... Such a dark, sad level. All the enemies fighting each other at the end of 7-3, while obviously an amazing spectacle... I just kind of sat there for a few seconds and watched. Machines fighting other machines to win a war that has already been lost, because there will be no one left to claim victory.
Lemme guess: Obviously the mannequins in 7-1 The staircase with the Purifiers in 7-1 The surprise at the end of 7-1 The Gutterman miniboss in 7-2 The H A L L W A Y
This layer made me felt so unnerved which most games hardly ever do. Between going through the head pounding layers of the first 2 acts this layer started out so calm which I wasnt expecting at all. And who else shit their pants when the mannequins first attacked? I did
Hakita, I know you've already received a lot of praise for the new layer. But I want to commend you for another thing. In the room with the red skull podium at the start of the level, THE MANEQUINS CHANGE POSES WHEN YOU AREN'T LOOKING AT THEM. That is just... bravo. I felt unnerved and i didn't realize why for a while. Thank you for creating a game with such amazing details.
I like how V1 encounters the mannequins for the first time who are in an inanimate state. You get to see the character design up close without getting killed before they become animate once more.
The first time I heard this song by itself I cried, i do not know why this song makes me have such a emotional reaction but props to being able to do that to me
They're made out of limbs mostly as their punishment for attempting to escape, being torn limb from limb and being put back together again as their body's control is taken away, being forced to dull out the layer's punishment without any freedom whatsoever.
I need to play those levels again. They're too masterful. The music, the ambiance, the creatures, all of it is perfect. Thank you for blessing us with this game.
someone on reddit told me my roblox avatar reminded me of this song. i have no clue where its from or the story behind it, but it makes me feel uncomfortably comfortable. i wanna cry but also wanna smile.
There's just a... eerie feeling You expect VIOLENCE to be such a chaotic mess, yet 7-1 is... calm. Too calm. It's such a whiplash that took me so off guard
Alright, I wanna give this lyrics. I'll start off on the first part: Locked in Silence, Here in Violence, Not a word, Forever Silent. Not a Hero, But a Clenser Show your Sin in Violent Splendor! Here, the damned are left unsure, If tortures something they'll endure, Will you empty all Hell's Domain, Or will you die in endless pain? Do Robots Dream... What your kind needs... Can only be... Eternal Sleep... Suffering Leaves but Suffering Leaves, War Without Reason's what I've seen, A Siren Call shall summon Death, That dares to bring forth mans last breath... Fill your purpose, end their pain, Their Fresh Blood is but yours to gain, Trapped, unmoving, and left insane, Make them your Able, Iron Caine! (Really intense part that doesn't deserve lyrics) BAM! Finished! Alrighty, Lap 1 of The World Looks White WITH LYRICS! Hell Yeah! Continue if you want to!
I appreciate how you actually lined up the syllables. you don't see that much in lyrical adaptations of game songs. something about the pace of the rhyme scheme I also think is weirdly fitting. only thing I'd say is that the final line is a bit strangely celebratory for something so grim by itself, but with more lyrics it could become like a twisted version of enthusiasm, like hell mocking the fate of the sinners that became mannequins
my initial reaction to seeing these freaky things was, "You're not going to weeping angel me... right?", I mean, I didn't get weeping angel'ed but it still scared me half to death
No pressure @Hakita , but this just keeps getting better and better... I just can't imagine how you're going to keep improving, yet I don't doubt you will.
@SumMfGopro I don't have the necessary stuff to play it but hopefully I can play it on my friends stuff!! really looking forward to it :3 only heard good things!!!
when i originally heard this track, my impression for the Layer of Violence is that there was nothing left. that Violence had already torn itself apart with it's insane conflict. Of course that doesn't seem to be the case now... but still you can not deny the feeling of nothing remaining from this track.
This is when the game became horror. Not over the top, not terrible jumpscare kind of terrifying. The kind that hurts your soul, the second you walk inside the temple. The feeling that all hope is gone, that there's nothing left here but ruins.
Each level of this layer had something terrifyingly bombastic. From the dead calmness of 7-1 till the end it ends with a bang, 7-2 introducing us to a fucking warzone, the horror and red trees of 7-3 and the the part where scale a fucking giant metal llama of death, this is truly the best layer so far, and my body isn't ready for what hakita is cooking for fraud and treachery.
The book here was probably written by the next prime soul seeing the reference to "painting" the world red and how the minotaur was "sculpted". Whoever it is seems to be an artist with a **deeply** twisted view of the world.
the only way i can describe this song, is being claustrophobic, scared of the dark, and stuck in a pitch black room after going through the most depressing experience of your entire life this makes me feel emotions i never thought possible and i hate it, incredible work
This is batter than Christmas thank you man thank you so much from bringing smile to my face every secund I can play your game, in this grim world of ours we don't smile much but I'm sure the just need some full hell for them
Its funny how in a single layer we got 5 jumpscares : first is red skull room (obvious reasons) second is right after (getting jumped by mannequins) next is last room (minotaur jumpscare after you thought you killed it) then is first gutterman encounter (you were excpecting mannequins on the pillars not a machine from the door) and finally benjamin (feet jumpscare)
This layer was incredible , you can really see how far ultrakill has come as a game since launch. i loved how every arm is vastly expanded on within combat wonder what the future of act III holds.
If I had a nickel for every indie game with a cult following that I've played that featured a completely white area, a depressing story, baller music, a predominantly queer fanbase and a palette-swapped doppelganger that falls to their death, i'd have two nickels. Which isn't a lot, but it's strange that it's happened twice.
Only looking at this art I notice that the Mannequins have all their limbs as a conglomeration of hands. Their design is just as unsettling as their lore
violence really felt magical, i felt like i was in another game while replaying it, if it wasn't for the other enemies reminding me that i'm in ultrakill i wouldn't have even believed it
