Heavy duty strap stitching with a Cowboy CB 6900 sewing machine

My other video's on this machine show that it is very good at stitching light duty work as in on purses and wallets so, as it can stitch up to 1/2" (13mm) and use 207 thread (13M) I thought I would give it a try on these arm chair straps. Although the dealers website claimed a 6mm stitch length I found it could do 8+mm with no problems. That is 3 stitches to the inch which is pretty wide in my opinion. The strap shown here is 6mm thick with a 1mm webbing reinforcement between the layers. The stitching worked faultlessly with the tension of the thread keeping perfectly centred throughout every stitch on all 4 straps. :)
Feel welcome if you would like to come and try out one of these machines here or buy one please contact me through one of the below links -

Is there a variety of feed dogs and needle plates available for the CB6900?

I don't know as I have never needed to change them for any application yet. I can say that they take the Singer 111 range of feet and that has about the widest range of feet variety of any machines. I have around 20 different feet that go on it and quite a few came with the machine. Left toe, right toe, standard double, left and right zipper feet, a whole big range of spring loaded edge guide feet, and quite a range of piping (cording feet). Being the most popular style feet makes them also pretty cheap to buy.

If you could have only one sewing machine for leather, which one would it be?

If I could only have one, what would suit my purposes on average could easily be different for someone else's kind of work. For me this CB 6900 covers a very broad range of applications and does a very neat and precise good looking job very easily. If you would like to give an example of the type of work you would like to be able to do, I would be more than happy to give a better answer. In the past I have purchased many unsuitable machines and I urge anybody wanting to buy a machine to do your best to show exactly the type of products you want to make. The thickness of the job, the thickness of thread, the methods used to stitch the products are all important things to know.

@@wildharry3203 I have a CB4500 and a Sailrite LZ1 for lighter applications. It's a nice combination. The CB6900 seems like it would be a nice addition. What's the thickest thread and largest needle size the CB6900 can handle? What's the thinnest and smallest?
@wildharry3203
@wildharry3203 2 года назад
@@pequodexpress That is a good question. The largest size thread and needle the Cb6900 can take is a 207 (13 metric) thread and the largest needle is a 24 (180) The smallest size thread is 46 (60 metric) and the smallest needle is 18 (110). I have seen some claim that you can use 277 (10 metric) thread but I am not sure if a size 24 needle will handle that size well. It may require moving the hook back to allow that size 25 needle but I have not tried it as yet.

@@wildharry3203 That's a pretty good range.

@@wildharry3203 Though I have yet to try a CB6900/Juki 1341/42, I would say this is the one machine to have if you could have only one.
