I have to chuckle every time I see you so effortlessly back up your articulated rig when there are so many truck drivers that can't back up a single semi trailer and also people out there that can't back up their family sedan. Great editing and music.... thank you for sharing.
I made a judgment call that a stop sign on the side of the road instead of in the middle was acceptable lol. Plus the other 2 trucks following needed to go wide for their turn also.
We have blanket permits in Quebec so it doesn’t cost anything to run oversize. And at that size we don’t have any restrictions so it’s just easier to run with the jeep than to load it and unload it. If it were winter I would’ve loaded it for extra traction.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 Interesting! Do you mean in winter you would load the jeep a) to the front, so you'd have more traction on the tractor, or b) on the back of trailer, so you'd have more "sideways grip" on the last few axles? (pls don't laugh, I'm not a trucker 🤗)
To the front is better to have more traction on the driving wheels. By removing it from the road and loading it on the trailer you have less wheels on the ground. Less wheels total means more weight per wheel (for the remaining wheels) which equals better traction in slippery conditions.
Hey Doug !! Welcome back from your ""ENJOYABLE"" Vacation !!! 🙂🙃😉 Thanks for the ride along & song !!! 🤠😎😮 Have a good weekend & ""STAY SAFE ""!!! 👍👍👍👍👍
Hey, Doug. Met one of your other driver's in Davenport, Iowa a little while ago. Didn't recognize the name on the door but the colour of the equipment stood out enough to enquire about. I don't remember the driver's name, but told him to say hi to you from me. Always impressed with your loads. Doubt idea wanna haul something as big as some of your largest loads, but I do wanna haul larger than these 14' wide scrapers I often haul.
Believe it or not I’ve never moved a scraper! The construction companies in Quebec don’t use them. 🤷🏼♂️ we like to be different. Don’t be shy to wave next time you see an orange truck. Might be me next time!
I’ve watched more than a few of your videos, and what I’m intrigued by is all those tires. How often do you have to replace a tire during a trip? And what do you do minimize these interruptions of your trips? Great videos, enjoy seeing the effort that goes into every aspect of your trips. Your the pointy end of a complex spear.
Tire problems do happen from time to time but thankfully not often. We have some uncommon tire sizes and that’s why you often see me carry a spare to reduce the time it takes to find a replacement
Hello Doug- Hope you had a good vacation. It's nice when a driver can take some time to recharge the batteries. It appeared that the wind at the port was giving ya'll fits loading. Nice to run a load where you don't have to worry about height, width, or excessive length. Great job editing. Don't know about that music though. LOL. Have a good day. Drive safe.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 It must have been the time lapse video making it look windy. I had to off set literally everything I put on my beam to level the trailer. Do any of the drivers domiciled at the Houston yard allowed to pick up and deliver within the States?
Vive la circulation de Montréal et la courtoisie des automobilistes et c’est sans parler de l’état des routes 🤦🏻♂️ Awesome Montreal traffic and the courtesy of cars’ drivers and it's not to mention the state of the roads 🤦🏻♂️
Believe it or not this is only a 7 speed transmission. Normally it will start in 2nd gear and go through the rest. When I’m loaded heavy I will manually start in 1st gear which is geared like Lo in a manual transmission.
I notice in some videos, you run a short tandem jeep and some a long tandem jeep. Which provinces can you use the short jeep? Or can you run both everywhere but less weight on the smaller spread jeep? Thanks for another great video.
You can get full weight on the short jeeps everywhere in the northeast. But you need a 14’ spread to get max weight out west and I believe in the Deep South also.
I am from montreal driving is not fun and joy many street port of montreal very narrow when built near 100 years ago.i work banister pipelines div of simard-beadry I have send a guys with lowbed pick up 594 side boom from england yes.he said he will never back there due narrow street. I said my dad own trucking outfit in montreal he was shock.metci beaucoup video.calgary alberta.
Would you not rather have an 18 speed manual transmission in that rig or do you like the new automated transmissions ? What engine is in that truck ? Thanks and love all the videos . There is a whole lot of driving skills on your channel . I move construction equipment all over Southern California with a 379 Pete with a 800 hp C18 Cat an a 18 speed pulling a 9 axle Cozad low boy .
I will always prefer a manual transmission. But this is a fleet truck and the future seems to be automatic. It’s 565hp with the Allison. I will admit that this transmission is getting the job done for the types of loads I am doing. I don’t really have anything bad to say about it. If I choose the manual it’s just personal preference.
In this business we will wear out a trailer in about 10 years. After that the strength starts to go out of the metal from continuous strain of the heavy loads.
The cam you used for the rear look on the passenger side had a dirty lens, major smudge on the outboard side of it's view. That really wide left turn into that single lane it looked like you were millimetres from grounding the deck.
@@luckybananaheavyhaul3407 Gotta work with the footage you have. It's awkward to explain to the customer that your're stalled for a day because of goofing around with the lens made your clock run out, haha.
If you see the yellow sign in the mirror that means the red and white sign is showing to the back. This transport was done all in Quebec where we are required to run the red and white signs.
Yes exactly. The yellow “oversize” signs are not legal in Quebec and they will get you a ticket guaranteed. The “D” is for “dimensional”… I don’t make the rules 🤷🏼♂️
