From Cy Woods, we were the band after y’all at BOA San Antonio prelims and hearing y’all in the tunnel live for the first time was absolutely insane. I was completely blown away. Congratulations on an phenomenal season!
From the Arlington Band, even though we didn't get seen you guys this year yall sound and look amazing. You guys could've definitely won grand nats if you went.
From Bridgeland, I remember wondering when y’all were going to start in SA and being absolutely blown away by your opening impact. (I need a mello cam please!)
Hard to believe that this is a highschool band lol. I only recently figured out that highschool bands do this lol. 2019 my band did this but we always did it on a practice band field lol. Maybe that’s cause we only had 30 people tho… 2020 we did it, but couldn’t compete cause of covid, and this year we just did 6 show songs since we had 25 and a third of them were newbies that are in 8th grade lol. The thing that sucks is that we probably will never go back to comp because some of the kids lack the motivation, maybe 5, but the rest are very hard working. and we just simply don’t have enough people and we aren’t as go of as we used to be. I’m a freshman so I’ll have 3 more years. I got put on tenors this year and improved a lot. Hoping that maybe my senior year we can compete, maybe just by a small sliver of hope. Another kinda unrelated thing is that my mother actually offered to transfer me to one of the schools around us since they still compete and have a big drum line. This year we had me in tenors, a snare, and 3 bass drums lol, which 2 were 8th grade. And 3 cymbals. The schools around us go out and play, like at restaurants around us and at farmer markets, which we aren’t big enough which sucks. When she first mentioned the idea, I thought she was joking lol, but now that Ik she was being serious, I think I would still say no, just cause some of the people I met at my current highschool are some of my best friends, even tho their seniors and juniors lol. This is my third year since I joined in 7th and they’ve been friends with me since I joined, and I’ve been friends with them basically since they’ve joined too. Just sucks we can’t compete. Sorry for talking so much lol. If you’ve read this far, have a good day!
With school districts like these most freshman go into highschool band knowing things like these they get taught really well at a young age plus alot of these kids get private instructors and each section of these highschools usually have techs that help the section improve
@@squidwindex5900 Makes sense I just remember seeing a comment somewhere I think it was a '19 baritone cam of an 8th grader who was going into hebron asking how does he double tongue so I thought it was a possibility that they teach them during band camp in highschool.
VERY IMPRESSIVE show!!! I’m sure this probably didn’t make it very far though. To other Texas bands this show is lowkey trash. Good attempt at keeping up with the crowd tho!!
