Helena and The Ghost of You Music video Reactions by My Chemical Romance 

Like you said, Gerard is amazing at conveying emotions, both through his voice and mannerisms. He’s just great at making you feel things. I commented before about the Mama performance from The Black Parade is Dead!, but his performance of Cancer from that same concert is in my opinion his best live vocal ever and you can really see that emotion/drama in it. Anyway, I was glad to see another reaction! Another album you should look into reacting to one day is American Idiot by Green Day. For me, it’s the greatest album of all time. It’s more pop punk but I think you’d love the drumming/bass/guitar trio that they have going on.

The "never coming home" part always gets me, because it's true. Even if a soldier survives the war and comes back, they're not the same as they were before, that's where come next lyrics "Should I? Could I?" Cause he's not really sure if he can come back and if he should do it after all things he saw and done... Anyways, cool reaction I had fun watching it! Hah

I absolutely love the fact that Gerard is so close to his family and is able to reflect it in his music. It is one of the things that drew me to the band. I am in my 50s and didn't really start listening to them maybe 3 years ago. Most of their music isn't my style, but as I learned about the stories behind them and behind the band.. especially Gerard and Mikey..I just kept being more and more drawn to them.

The transition from dance floor into the ocean in Ghost of You makes me feel like crying every time, it's so so beautiful. Also, not sure if you've been planning on it but you should totally react to The Foundations of Decay by MCR, it came out in May after about 10 years of not releasing new music and they totally lived up to my expectations, I think you'd love it too

the videos definitely add to both of these songs, glad you did them. i’m hoping you go back to black parade and watch the video for famous last words. it’s more simple but it’s a favorite for a lot of us. plus you get to see some great guitar 💜

Late to the party, but the guy who dies in this video is Mikey Way, the bassist. If you watch The Black Parade video, Mikey is wearing medal. For dying in battle, in this video.

Heya! I’m still around and watching vids (life is crazy rn). Ghost of you ALWAYS makes me tear up tho bc like… yes it’s just a music video and not real, but seeing Gerard cry out for his brother like that at the end? It’s gets me every damn time. Love your videos! So glad you’re loving mcr! Saw them in concert sept 24 of 2022 for my two year anniversary w my partner… one of the best concerts I’ve been to. If you get the chance, GO SEE THEM LIVE!!

Somebody might have to fact check me on this one, but I remember hearing somewhere that The Ghost of You is one of the top 50 highest budget music videos of all time.

I totally missed this video so i'm a little late, but I'm so glad you reacted to Ghost of You, that video gets to me every time. In the video, Gerard's brother Mikey is the one that dies and I bet it was really hard to film that 😭. Anyway thank you for doing these videos, I really enjoy them lol 😁

The one who dies in the video is Mikey Way, who is the bassist of the band and the singer Gerard Way's little brother During the old days of the band both of them struggled with mental health issues and this is actually not the last time Gerard reached out to him in the music, as in during The Black Parade Mikey actually almost left the band and you can feel the sentiment during the lyrics of Famous Last Words

I loved this video! I really like when you analyze the music videos and point out little things some people wouldn't have noticed otherwise! Okay, It's fun fact time! Maybe not so tun, but you know how in the black parade Mikey has a military badge on his uniform? That's because he died in the ghost of you. I just think that's such an interesting little detail they decided to add. I'm glad you reacted to some three cheers music videos, and I hope you've grown more fond of the ghost of you after seeing the music video. I wasn't such a big fan of it either at first, but it grew on me and now it's one of my favorites on three cheers! Also, when you said Gerard was a good actor, I totally agree with that! You can really see all the passion in his voice and his emotions in both videos. I also think it's totally heartbreaking when Mikey dies, because you can see in Gerard's expression that he's really upset, almost like that actually happened. I just think all of their music videos in general, no matter the theme, are very well put together. Also real quick, if you've got the time, I'd suggest you maybe watch the making of the music videos! They're really good! i remember reading somehwere a while back that during the scene where mikey dies in the ghost of you video gerard didn't really have to put as much effort into the acting because he just imagined that his brother really was dying, idk how true that is cause i don't remember the source but i definitely think about it more than i probably should. it adds like a whole new layer to the video for me, makes it even more emotional if thats even possible lol

I give it two weeks before you see the "Fight me for an apple!" video and other meta shit that makes me love these guys even more. The members are fucking hilarious. They were performing for a bit without giving venues riders (things talent require in order to perform at the venue) were some bands/talent will have pages of demands. These guys eventually used those things to figure out if stuff was really discontinued or not. Once their only request was for surge (still around, they got cases), and once it was for Ecto Cooler flavor Hi-C (actually discontinued, RIP).

am i going to watch this during class? yes edit: not a good idea, teacher took my phone away :/ but now i watched the vid and i just wanna give you some details about the ghost of you music video: if i remember correctly, the budget for this vid was $1 000 000, which totally makes sense considering how perfectly executed everything is, from visuals and effects, to the costumes, the literal guns, etc. I'm not very sure about this fact but i think this video is supposed to represent the battle of Normandy from WW2, again i'm no expert but lots of people say everything about their representation of the battle is on point the bassist of MCR, Mikey Way (who's also Gerard's younger brother) plays the soldier who dies in the music video; they had all really gotten in character and Gerard had several panic attacks because he kept watching his brother "die" while shooting, I think that explains why Gerard's emotion is so raw and genuine in those scenes, also goes to show how good of an actor Gerard is (also, everything about this video definitely ties to the emotions displayed in the song, the pain of losing someone you love, knowing that this person will never come back home to you, the feeling of despair and helplessness - which i think Gerard portrays really well towards the end of the vid, where the others hold him down while he's screaming and crying because his brother is dying and he can't do anything - etc.; i really can't think of a better music video for this song) loved the reaction btw!! i love how you were vibing to the first chorus of Helena lol, that little dance you do is so fun. looking forward to the next reaction video!

Ok, here's your fun fact™️ for the Helena video: This has old-school symbolism for wakes/funerals, so most people are confused by the dance. Traditionally, a wake is for communing with the soul of the dead. The separate funeral ceremony is the final formal communication of the mourners to the deceased, sending well-wishes with them to the afterlife and culminates in the release of their soul from earth. Helena was a dancer (Hence the dancers to celebrate her life during the funeral ceremony). Her soul's final communion with, and message to, her loved ones was a dance while they had the final prayer. That's why she doesn't touch anyone. It's her soul dancing. When the prayer is done, her soul is released. She symbolically lands back in the casket. The next thing we see is the closed casket and mourners outside, transporting her soulless body.

The Helena music video is definitely heartbreaking, apparently Gerard teared up a few times during shooting and they had to take breaks. The whole shoot overall was pretty miserable for everyone, especially with the rain. The Ghost of You mv always makes me tear up
