Getting to know about Voiceplay is one of the best things that has happened to me. They are so great. This I think is my favorite arrangement of theirs... hangout with me for my first time listening to Hellfire from the Hunchback of Notre Dame by Voiceplay.

Voiceplay is one of the top three acapella groups. The top three are Voiceplay, Pentatonix and Home Free. They are all alumni of the acapella competition show The Sing-Off. Pentatonix won the third season. Voiceplay and Home Free were on the fourth season of the show and formed close friendships. Home Free won the fourth season while appearing as a token country group. Although Home Free is labeled country, they can and do all genres. People compare the three groups to high school cliques. Pentatonix is the popular kids. Voiceplay is the theatrical kids. Home Free is the laid back kids tailgating in the parking lot. They are all fantastically gifted and are unique in their separate ways. People favor the groups according to their personal tastes.

This is 🔥🔥🔥. Geoff was reluctant to do this song because Frollo is such a despicable character, but he finally did and he played the villain convincingly! Eli's notes also insane (and beautiful). Layne... where do we even start... just genius. Cesar brings the whole package and JNone (Mr Smooth) rounds it all off nicely. I also never re-listened or bought a capella, but VP changed all that! 🌹🎈

It's useless to hide... Low bass is limited in role types compared to often romantic or heroic baritones and tenors - either villains down to demons and Devil, or high priests, or kings (as answered more than a century ago by Feodor Shalyapin to Nicholas II of Russian empire)

That first commentary was spot on. I always compared it to either taking a scuba diver for their first dive on a reef, or maybe the Grand Canyon with a friend who had never seen it before. So's VoicePlay. I went to VoicePlay to listen to their new video. I came away saying that was stunning, evil, mesmerizing and absolutely unforgettable.

Loved your reaction and completely agree about Layne's arrangements - I think the man is massively underrated, probably at least in part because he writes such amazing lines for the other singers, and the focus is on the singer, rarely on the arrangement.

Layne can arrange diverse songs into one seamless production. He did the arrangement of The Buttz Remix for Home Free. He was able to mix rsp,. Queen, and country in one cohesive song with his arrangement which Home Free delivered with their great harmonies and beat boxing.

@@lazylady8591 Maybe something has dropped from my mind, but I believe Layne arranged all of VP's medleys up until Geoff did Wicked. His ability to hold those sounds in his mind and mix/match must be prodigious!

Home Free got his permission to use his arrangement of Elvira when Home Free did the song with the Oak Ridge Boys who were the original singers of the song and made it a hit. Voiceplay has so much versatility in so many aspects, not just in performing music. They do so much more in that they do everything concerning their videos instead of just hiring outside help. It's truly amazing.

@@Aurora-cv5to Layne seems more in the background plus he doesn't do individual videos with a deep deep voice like Geoff. Acapella is a cooperative art and the artists don't have massive egos even when they do their individual projects., Layne pushes Geoff to expand his gifts due to Layne's, ambitious arrangements. An example of the modesty of acapella performers could be Austin Brown or Home Free. People have repeatedly said Austin could easily become a pop.stsr due to his talent and looks. However Austin has never wanted to be a solo performer, although he does do individual projects on his channel such as Being Him Home. Even when Austin was the lead singer on The Sing-Off, he refused with the others of Home Free agreeing to sing Colder Weather despite the producers pressuring him Colder Weather had always been Rob's, lead part. So Rob sang the lead at a critical point of the competition. The point is that Layne might not mind the lack of recognition that you think he deserves. Acapella performers are a different type ot performers than the public is used to in terms of artistic egos

Great reaction - this was easily the 'darkest' Disney song ever, like you said - hard to believe this was in a kids' film! As always, Layne did such a good job with the arrangement - once you have listened to a few, you can usually whether Geoff or Layne arranged it..! You want more crazy tempo changes - 'Friends On The Other Side', from The Princess and The Frog! Also, love to see what you make of their cover of 'In The Air Tonight'..! 😊As a gamer, you might appreciate their covers of 'Dragonborn Comes' from Skyrim, and the 'Halo' theme..watch this one to the end!

Great reaction!! This was just so damned good!! When I watched it the first time, I thought it was Geoff that said "Burn It", but no, that was Layne. And It was cool that Tony got to participate as the guard. Completely Blown away by how epic this cover was!! It has been a long long time since I have seen Hunchback of Notre Dame. And I love when Cesar briefly plays the air guitar?? lol

Great reaction Sebs!! As others have said, Layne is simply brilliant and you would never know it. Arranging, singing, vocal percussion, vioLayne. He truly does it all in such an unassuming way. In terms of "Why are reactors a thing?"...since you and others started reacting to Voiceplay in the last 4 months, Voiceplay's Subscribers has grown by 14% and your subscribers has grown by 31%. So way more people have found and are getting to enjoy Voiceplay music and also get to enjoy Seb's reactions!! Cheers mate!!

According to Geoff, Layne loved doing this because he (Layne) got a chance to drop soime basement notes for a change. Not as low as Geoff, naturally, but a respectable bass anyway. Geoff's apparently been tutoring him.

Voiceplay has done a freakingly good Hellfire here. If you want another great rendition of this song, try Jonathan Young's version. It's even darker than this.

I'm super late to the party, but your comment about the tempo and style changes made me think that you would really like VoicePlay's "In The Hall Of The Mountain King" -- a classical piece with no lyrics that showcases their comedic side and their insane skill with switching styles and rhythms.

That may not be true for long, lol. Geoff is constantly working on his range and vocal techniques. He has expanded over half an octave at least since I first started watching him.

It is. That is the point. It is after all the ‘villian’s song’ of the movie. And VoicePlay sang it as this year’s Halloween song.

This song is intentionally evil. So if this is your first Voiceplay experience, then check out Hall of the Mountain King, Hoist the Colours, If I Were a Rich Man/Girl, Nothing Else Matters. You'll be impressed! Hopefully blown away. And, if you do, please reply back with your thoughts!

Geoff resisted doing this for a while Because it is evil, but Layne eventually talked him into it. It's so convincing because Voiceplay is theatrical as well as musical. Many in the group have experience in voice acting and some used to perform for Disney at Disney World.

Sorry, but you really need to fix that very loud, high pitched squeal, it ruins you good reaction. I will listen to one more reaction, if that squeal is still there you will lose me as a listener. Please fix it because I like you and don't want to keep putting my system on mute. Thank you.
