The most unforgettable line I've got from the movie was, "I heard a voice telling me to keep on living and embrace my lost. You should've heard the voice I did." 😭
Children who chase lost voices from deep below and the girl who leapt through time pass the message that we need to learn to say goodbye. Both have sad endings 😭
The pain, i remember a friend of mine, i said something accidentally and we can't talk to each other anymore, if i didn't say it, then she and i would be talking right now

Every single time i hear this song I can't help but think of what would have happened if Shun had lived and if Asuna and him could've lived happily ever after.. That's what makes anime different from America's movies/tv series. There isn't always a perfect ending, but sometimes...something close to a happy one.
This movie has the best ending for me. I totally understand how Professor Morisaki felt. To wish for someone to return and be with them again, to be happy with them. But I guess death is part of life.
A lot of people just think this is a movie but it actually has a very deep and meaningful message behind it. And to me it's about excepting your loss and moving on. Because if we don't move on then we will be stuck in the same place all our lives and that is good for no one. And also knowing that they will forever be with us inside our hearts and we will see them again, even if we don't know it.
I don't know why, but the ending hit me a lot. "We need to learn to say goodbye." The reality and truth in that sentence breaks my heart a little because we need to do that so often. Even when we don't want to let go of that person.....sometimes you have to...
i think it's also about the flow of life and that we have to be able to "say goodbye" to things/people that cease to exist, because time and life only works in one direction (well, atleast from human perspective). but ye, on the other hand it's also about "saying hello" to people dear to us, which implies to value those people/things while they exist
I found Makoto Shinkai through this film. Ever since, I watched everything he's done, including his newest work, The Garden of Words. His work is so amazingly beautiful, but this will always be my favorite.
Tomorrow is the last day that I would be in the same school with my friends bc I have to move to other school... and one of my friend sended me this and now... I just want to break into tears...
The melody of the song is nice. I don’t understand the lyrics but I felt the sadness of its message. I just finished watching the movie and I thought of searching the song. It’s beautiful.
This movie and the song is so deep, the picture, the silence, the effort, the regret, the hope, and the lesson. Meaningfull even on the silence picture.
Yes, we need to say farewell. I'll now start walking a world without you, and maybe we'll meet again in the afterlife. For in this world, we have to say goodbye.
Feel like the movie is about letting go. The death of loved ones must be remembered and their memories cherished but there comes a time to say goodbye. That's the vibe I get from this piece
This song, and this movie, just too beautifuck. And the song always hits me right in the heart, making me remember a special someone I had to part ways with. I'm glad I met her...
MN Siren LOL. I'm obviously cursing it. Just kidding, I'm complimenting it, I love this song. c: I'm back with the best friend I said I had to part ways with, too! (New account because the old one grew on me.)
I kind of wish to life forever but at the same time not to but to life forever u see many beautiful things comes and goes and it get hard to get used to when it gone and on the other hand u see horrible evil things come and goes too that u wish could stop from even happening before it happen but was powerless to stop it.
bryce hayward Makoto Shinkai, the Director of this film, actually expressed what you are saying. It's amazing that someone from another country who speaks another language can make you feel something so strongly despite the distance and differences of cultures and countries. He said that there is a very old Japanese word for love which sounds like, "koi". He said that this form of love is thought to be more of a sad type of love, and it is what he likes to write some of his films about.
I just watched the movie, which I had watched years ago as a child, and as it came to the end, just before the song starts playing but the story is actually over, I had totally forgotten about this song. But the second the song started, I felt so much nostalgia. It kinda was like travelling back in time paired with flashbacks. It was great.
Ironically I figured out that my crush is moving away and I found this song by accident. As soon I read the lyrics I burst into tears. It made me cry through the whole song.
Loritt Marlen it was for everything & everyone. Just saying farewell period. & coming to the realization that though death is sad, it is a natural part of us.
this made me into a emotional baby. brought tears to my eyes. made me think about life did it make anyone else think about life. hope it wasn't just me.
"Ever since I fell in love with you, I've started my journey" (@ 3:17) has such obvious symbolism with the movie, but it's so sad to comprehend to what it means....
i watched the movie for the first yesterday...I am so glad I did because my god.....this movie was great, just a fantastic world of fantasy with lots of character development and emotions and the animation....holy crap do I love Makoto Shinkai's work. I watched his short the garden of words before I watched children who chase lost voices but damn, every single frame that man creates is so beautiful that I could cry of sheer happines. and combined with a song as beautiful as this...i almost did cry during the ending credits.
I LOVE how she spells "hello. goodbye and hello" xD one AMAZING movie btw, watched it many times and I can't get enough of it, wish there was a sequel :(
When I first this I cried just like I am now this song is so beautiful it makes me sad but happy I wish Shun survived so that he and Asuna could be together and that his brother Shin could live on the surface...I'm such a baby I cry overtime I here this song
*I'm fucking crying. Just like when I watched the movie years ago. Fuck. It's been so long since I've seen it but the moment this started playing it all came back*
this song is so utterly beautiful. the soothing melody and the lyrics fit so well, i am at loss for words. such a wonderful voice combined with a great choice of intruments. it has been years since i saw the film and even though i cant remember the story at all, the lyrics still move my heart.
This song makes me think of my aunt ... How I didn't want to say goodbye...things I wanted to tell...how much I loved her....sayonara Erica. #justiceforerica
wow, the whole movie I was able to hold back tears but rereading the lyrics here....i just broke down crying for a little while. I love this song and I LOVE the movie so much!
i play this song over and over again... T_T rock music the kind of music i like. but when i listen to this song, it makes me want to cry. thanks to the sub now i can fully understand the entire song..
Thanks for playing this song I watch the movie and it's really really sad but I really liked the song I cried at the end alittle but I couldn't hope it.So Thank You For Playing That Song😂😂😂😂😂😂😇😂😂😁😁😁
I watched this about a year and a half ago and it was amazing. It was up there with spirited away for the best. Also I love every studio ghibli film ever made.
If u like this comment there's a 100% chance there will be a second movie on asuna and shun in love Edit: AH I wrote this a year ago and I went back to this song because is soo bootiful 😭😭
goodbye in all forms of life is inevitable.... but love is the one thing that we keep on hanging on despite of pain of losing someone or something...letting go does not mean forgetting them... letting go means unconditional love.... that there is more reason to move on and continue to love without expecting in return... love this movie as well as the song... it reminds me of my dad in heaven....
i suddenly remembered this song in the middle of rewatching Given and what i searched was, "say hello hello and good bye Japanese anime song" wrong lyrics but at least found it
